"The technology is indeed not yet complete," the tall one admitted, "but we don't have much time. The Spirit Communicator Association has already started requesting support. I've received internal information that they are seeking help from the headquarters above, and headquarters has already approved it."

The pupils of the short one slightly contracted, sensing an ominous premonition in his heart.

"Who are they sending?" he asked.

The tall one closed his notebook and put it back inside his black robe.

He looked up at the short one, moved his lips, and uttered a word.

"A... Prophet."

The short one's face turned deathly pale in that instant.

Prophet.

It wasn't just a nickname, but an official title given by the Spirit Communicator Association headquarters to those spiritualists with strange destiny abilities.

Destiny elements of this plane are extremely rare, and those who can tame and seal them are even rarer.

But every person given the title "Prophet" possesses a terrifying level of foresight ability.

These are not the whimsical wizards from fairy tales, but genuine "Future Vision" that can be clearly articulated and verified.

"Once that one arrives," the tall one said in a lower voice, "I will also be exposed."

Neither of them doubted that the Prophet had this ability.

As a senior researcher within the association, the tall one's destiny line was too closely intertwined with the association.

Any inspection unfavorable to him would cause fluctuations on the destiny level, and it was only a matter of time before the Prophet detected it.

"Before that," the tall one lifted his head, a near-madness in his eyes, "we must initiate the final plan. At any cost."

The short one remained silent for a long time.

Finally, he nodded and turned to leave.

As his figure stepped outside the circle of kerosene lamp light, he merged into the darkness, like a drop of water falling into an ink pool, leaving no trace.

Only the tall one remained standing between the two kerosene lamps.

However, he did not immediately leave this space.

His body lingered for a few seconds, and then the entire space folded beneath his feet.

The light of the two kerosene lamps seemed to be kneaded into a lump by an invisible hand, twisting the light.

When they unfolded again, the tall one was no longer in that vast hall.

The surrounding environment looked like a laboratory.

The space was not large, about fifty to sixty square meters, with gray-white metal panels on the walls and ceiling etched with dense sealing runes.

In the center of the floor was a circular array about three meters in diameter, its lines drawn with some kind of luminescent liquid.

That liquid emitted a pale blue glow in the darkness, illuminating the entire array like a moon lying on the ground.

And in the center of the array stood a creature.

Its size was similar to the previous shark creature, but its shape was completely different.

It was an existence composed of various strange fragments, without a fixed form.

Its "body" was constantly changing, one second appearing like a large, hairless dog, the next transforming into a twisted, multi-limbed insectoid creature, and then collapsing into a mass of writhing, eye-covered flesh.

Each transformation was accompanied by a sound like shattering bones, the noise dense and continuous, like a thousand sticks of dry wood exploding in a single bonfire.

The tall one stood at the edge of the array, expressionlessly watching it.

The blue light of the sealing array extended under his feet, connecting with the central array to form a closed energy circuit.

He located the control nodes within the circuit, drawing a few strokes in the void with his fingers to bring up real-time monitoring data of this creature.

Stability: 17%.

Will synchronization rate: 8%.

Risk level of losing control: extremely high.

Estimated remaining survival time: less than 2 hours.

He frowned, his fingers drawing across the void to bring up a more detailed analysis report.

The report indicated that the core structure of this fused anomaly had already shown an irreversible collapse trend.

The will of the human host, after a strong initial phase, rapidly weakened and was devoured by the collective consciousness of the anomaly.

The host themselves did not even realize they were losing their identity, only that their thought patterns were becoming increasingly like those of the anomaly.

Once their thought patterns completely transformed, the anomaly would wholly occupy their body.

Then, once the balance between the two sides was broken, the body would quickly collapse.

Because the essence of the anomaly requires human spiritual wisdom as soil, without the restraint of the host's will, the forcibly pieced-together fragments of different anomalies would repel and attack each other, ultimately tearing the entire body apart from within.

The tall one watched the fluctuating data with no change in expression.

Suddenly, the creature in the center of the array let out a wail.

It was a sound mixed with a dozen different frequencies, meaningless and purely driven by pain.

The sound wave struck the metal panel walls, absorbed by the sealing runes.

Even though most of it was attenuated, the remaining sound waves still caused the air in the laboratory to visibly vibrate.

In response, the tall one manipulated the array emotionlessly, beginning further experimentation on it.

An hour and a half quickly passed, and the creature before him began to decay.

Its skin cracked and peeled away, exposing the colorless, gray-white muscle underneath.

The muscle lost its elasticity in seconds, becoming a heap of loose, fibrous material.

Then the bones began to fracture, snapping like dead branches one by one.
