Chapter 212: Chapter 211: Birds of The Same Feather
Boom!
Li Xinyue felt as if she had been struck directly in the soul by a massive spiritual hammer! Her face instantly turned deathly pale, her eyes wide with shock.
"Grandpa...Grandpa..." she stammered, her usual composure completely gone.
"You think you’ve hidden it well?" The patriarch sneered, taking a step closer: "You and Chen Xiarong have been inseparable since childhood. I am a Holy realm Master and Patriarch of this family! Nothing in this manor escapes my eyes!"
He snorted heavily, pointing a finger directly at her nose: "You condemn your third Brother for liking men, but aren’t you a homosexual yourself? You two siblings are truly birds of a feather! One cut-sleeves on the left, one cut-sleeves on the right! Is my Li family about to become a holy land of homosexuals?!"
Li Xinyue’s face turned from pale to deep red. Her heart pounded, as if it would burst from her chest. She had always carefully guarded her relationship with Chen Xiarong, not yet ready to go public. But her grandfather already knew!
Before she could even react, the old patriarch leaned down, a dangerous glint of provocation in his eyes: "Since we’re on the topic... Xinyue, are you planning to come to my study tomorrow to announce your intention to marry Chen Xiarong?! And will you also make me prepare a wedding sedan chair for her?!"
"Married?!"
The thought of standing in this room, introducing Chen Xiarong to her angry grandfather, sent Li Xinyue’s mind completely blank!
"Grandpa! Look! A lucky phoenix is flying in the sky!" Li Xinyue suddenly pointed out the window, her face was filled with astonishment.
The old patriarch’s gaze involuntarily drifted to the empty window, lingering for less than a second.
In that instant, Li Xinyue’s movement skill exploded to the maximum! She transformed into a streak of purple light, as she rushed away, pushing open the door, and leaping into the courtyard like a wild rabbit released from its reins!
"Grandpa, I suddenly remembered the alchemy furnace is still burning! I have to go!" Her voice faded into the air, and her figure disappeared beyond the outer wall.
Realizing he had fallen into a trap, the old ancestor turned around, his face instantly turning ashen!
"You brat! How dare you play tricks on this old man?!"
The old ancestor’s spiritual power surged, unable to control himself any longer, he slammed his right fist into the reinforced stone wall beside the door!
BOOM!!! A terrifying explosion resounded throughout the entire east wing!
A massive hole, three meters wide, instantly pierced through the three-foot-thick spirit-forged stone wall, sending dust, stones, and spiritual shockwaves flying fifty yards into the air!
Outside the courtyard, fifty yards away, Li Xinyue felt the ground tremble beneath her feet and heard the deafening roar of collapsing stones.
She stopped and looked back. A huge mushroom cloud of gray dust rose above her grandfather’s study, revealing a gaping hole in the once-solid stone wall, now unrecognizable.
Li Xinyue clutched her chest, her heart pounding, as cold sweat drenched her back.
"A monstrous... truly monstrous strength!" she gasped, wiping the sweat from her brow: "If I had stayed in that room for three more seconds, that punch would have landed on me!"
She swallowed nervously, watching the dust with a mixture of fear and relief: "Thank God I ran fast! I escaped with my life!"
What beloved granddaughter? When that old man is angry, he can beat anyone to death!
As the dust settled, Li Xinyue’s fear gradually turned into a burning rage!
Who was responsible for all of this?
Who knew the old dragon was breathing fire and still sent her straight into its lair?!
Li Jain!
"Third Brother...you scheming fox!" Li Xinyue gritted her teeth, straightening her sleeves. "You knew Grandpa was angry! Yet, you deliberately sent me to check up on him, so I could take the blame for you!"
Not only was she almost punched to pieces by the old man, but even her deepest and most private secrets about Chen Xiarong were exposed!
"You just wait and see!" Li Xinyue growled in a low voice, turning and stomping her foot as she stormed towards the courtyard: "Even if it’s the last thing I do, I’ll teach you a lesson!"
...
On the rooftop of the pavilion, Liu Xiong clutched his wine gourd tightly, laughing so hard his shoulders shook violently, almost causing him to fall. Panting heavily, his face flushed as he watched Li Xinyue rush out from the east wing, her purple robe fluttering like a startled rabbit. Right as the three-meter-wide hole was blasted into the spirit-forged stone wall behind her.
"Hahahaha! Fantastic! Absolutely brilliant!" Liu Xiong wiped away the tears of laughter from his eyes and took a large gulp of spirit wine. Goodness, he didn’t expect the Li Family to be so amusing.
He leaped lightly, landing like a feather on the rooftop, before landing steadily beside Li Xinyue, who was walking towards the central courtyard.
"Little Xinyue, your agility technique is truly exquisite!" Liu Xiong grinned, keeping up with her rapid pace: "You dodged the Holy Lord’s fierce attack by pointing at an invisible phoenix. That trick is absolutely amazing! I like you more and more!"
Li Xinyue glared at him, her chest still heaving from her near-death experience: "You! It’s all your fault! If you hadn’t shamelessly told Grandpa you were going to marry my Third Brother, he wouldn’t be so fierce!"
"Hey, don’t blame me for speaking the truth," Liu Xiong chuckled, completely unfazed by her angry glare. He leaned closer as his tone became mysterious and affectionate: "Besides, what I overheard through the hole in the wall just now...you and I are comrades traveling the exact same path, aren’t we? Cut-sleeves on the left, Cut-sleeves on the right! Since we share such profound mutual understanding, why don’t you give your future brother-in-law some advice? How can I get your Third Brother to agree to the official marriage sooner?"
Li Xinyue froze, staring at Liu Xiong as if he were an alien. Her jaw twitched: "Future brother-in-law? You shameless bastard! My Third Brother hasn’t even agreed to marry you yet, and you’re already calling yourself family? Get out of my way! I’m going to settle accounts with Li Jain!"
Without waiting for Liu Xiong’s reply, she kicked open the wooden gate to Li Jain’s yard and stormed in like an angry cloud. Liu Xiong merely chuckled, took another sip of wine, and casually followed behind her, planning to watch the show. He doesn’t know when, but his Xiao Jain has actually learned to be cunning.
In the courtyard, Li Jain was sitting beneath a blooming plum tree, elegantly brewing a pot of fragrant spiritual tea. The setting sun cast a soft golden glow on his serene face, making him appear like a calm immortal detached from worldly affairs.
Seeing his calm and composed look, Li Xinyue’s last shred of self-control completely erupted.
Li Xinyue slammed her hands on the stone table, making the teacups clatter: "You cunning, unfilial brother! You knew perfectly well that Grandpa was like a volcano! Yet you sent me there for him to erupt on me!"
Li Jain stopped pouring tea, looked up, and gazed at her with clear, innocent eyes. There was no trace of guilt or panic on his face; he simply pushed a freshly poured cup of warm tea towards her:
"Sister Xinyue, why are you so angry?" He asked softly, his voice as gentle as a cool mountain spring: "Have some tea to soothe your throat. Did Grandpa say something that made you angry?"
"What did he say that made me angry?!" Li Xinyue almost choked on her breath: "He almost beat me to a pulp with his Holy Fist! The entire east wall was destroyed! And worse... he found out something he shouldn’t have! He knows about me and Xiaorong! My deepest, most private secret has been exposed because of you!"
Li Jain blinked slowly, a thoughtful expression appearing on his face. He smiled warmly; his expression was filled with gentle comfort: "Is that really so? But sister, isn’t this a good thing?"
Li Xinyue stammered: "A good thing?!"
"Of course," Li Jain explained sincerely, his clear eyes sparkling with pure affection: "You and Chen Xiaorong have had such a good relationship for so many years. Keeping your relationship a secret from your family, must have been very hard. Now that Grandpa knows, you don’t have to secretly carry this burden anymore. Grandpa may have a bad temper, but he loves you very much. In time, he will definitely accept it. Shouldn’t I congratulate you for taking this step forward?"
Li Xinyue opened her mouth, but her mind was a mess. She had prepared a whole list of sharp words and complaints to teach her third brother a lesson for his scheming.
However, looking at Li Jain’s pure and sincere face... every single sharp word she threw at him felt like punching a thick stack of soft cotton. Not only did it fail to land any blow, instead it’s making her feel like the unreasonable one!
She stared at him for a full ten seconds, while Li Jain simply gave her a reassuring, gentle smile and handed her another teacup.
Li Xinyue’s shoulders suddenly slumped. All her enthusiasm vanished, replaced by a deep sense of powerlessness.
"I give up..." Li Xinyue slumped heavily into her chair, grabbing the teacup and gulping it down. She sighed deeply, saying helplessly: "Arguing with you is like trying to cut water with a sword. I don’t know how you do it, third brother; but your skin is even thicker than Liu Xiong’s."
Liu Xiong, leaning against a nearby pillar, grinned: "Don’t drag me into this. I’m just an innocent bystander."
Li Xinyue ignored Liu Xiong, her weary gaze returning to Li Jain: "Forget it. What’s done is done. Third Brother, I need two of your Instant Breakthrough dishes. Give it to me immediately."
Li Jain raised an eyebrow curiously: "Instant Breakthrough dish? Sister, your cultivation has long surpassed that level. Taking two at once won’t help your current bottleneck. What do you need them for?"
Li Xinyue sneered, a sly glint in her eyes: "Who said they were for me? This is a bribe! The only way out for us!"
