Chapter 382: Instant-killing the Elder, Vajra Jade Soul
Twisted purple thunder arcs flickered and danced in Lin Zhenyue’s eyes. The vast Magical Power within him surged like a nest of dragons and serpents. A tyrannical presence erupted from him, and the surrounding void trembled violently as if battered by a terrifying flood.
“Thunderfall Annihilation Fist!”
Lin Zhenyue raised his hand in midair and clenched it into a fist, gathering streaks of Thunder that crackled with tangled Thunder Arcs, ravaging the open sky. The next moment, he kicked off with a mighty stomp, instantly shattering the ground beneath him.
His figure then flashed like lightning, tearing through space. With the force of a thousand thunderbolts and a vast, imposing momentum, he shot toward Gu Yun!
Gu Yun stood with his hands clasped behind his back, his robes and hair fluttering in the wind. He watched the scene with deep eyes, his expression as placid as still water, showing not the slightest ripple of emotion.
He raised a hand in midair and extended one finger. Streaks of Thunder, imbued with immense Divine Power, coalesced around it, shimmering with a blindingly brilliant light.
SWOOSH!
In the next instant, a powerful beam of Thunder suddenly tore through the sky. Carrying a tyrannical might, it shot toward the oncoming Lin Zhenyue, who was himself wreathed in the force of a thousand thunderbolts.
BOOM!
The two supremely powerful attacks collided violently in the void, creating an earth-shattering explosion. Huge swathes of the surrounding space shattered, and endless astral winds gusted out from the dark abyss, exuding a terrifying aura that made one’s heart pound in fear.
The powerful aftershocks blasted out in all directions, creating a terrifying spatial storm.
For a moment, it seemed as if the entire magnificent Celestial Thunder Dao Peak, which towered into the clouds, trembled slightly.
“What’s happening?!” a disciple practicing Techniques on the training grounds exclaimed in alarm, feeling the disturbance from Celestial Thunder Dao Peak.
“It’s coming from the Celestial Thunder Hall,” a slender, white-robed youth with a calm expression said in a low voice. His senses told him that an exceptionally powerful force, like the might of the heavens itself, was being unleashed in the Celestial Thunder Hall at the summit of the Dao Peak.
“Ah, Senior Brother, could it be a rare treasure being unearthed? Or a Spirit Vein erupting?” the first disciple asked.
THWACK!
The white-robed man immediately rapped the disciple on the head and gave him an impassive look. “All you ever think about is rare treasures. Do you think serendipitous opportunities are so common?”
“Besides, what kind of rare treasure would appear on our Dao Peak? And for that matter, being allowed to stay on this peak and cultivate is a great opportunity in itself for people like us.”
“As for a Spirit Vein eruption, that’s even more nonsensical,” the white-robed youth added, his analysis sound and reasoned.
RUMBLE!
Along with a powerful roar, the aftershocks of the impact completely obliterated the floating white clouds. Sunlight poured down, shining with brilliant radiance.
“Senior Brother, what do you think is causing all this?” the disciple asked, his body trembling.
The white-robed youth’s face was grim. He looked up slightly, his gaze seeming to pierce through space itself to the summit of the Dao Peak. “If I’m not mistaken,” he said in a low voice, “it’s likely two True Monarchs doing battle.”
“True Monarchs fighting?” The disciple’s face was a mask of shock. “Could it be the Elders sparring?”
“That’s a possibility.”
The white-robed youth nodded, his eyes fixed on the summit of the Dao Peak with a hint of longing.
…
BANG!
Lin Zhenyue’s fist, wreathed in the might of a thousand thunderbolts, instantly collided with the beam of Thunder. The impact flared with a brilliant light, and the tyrannical force shattered all the surrounding space.
But just a breath later, the supremely tyrannical beam of light, which contained the ultimate power, instantly shattered the thunderous might gathered in Lin Zhenyue’s fist. In that same instant, an immense power invaded his body, and his internal organs felt as if they were about to be torn apart.
“What?!” Lin Zhenyue’s pupils shrank to the size of pinpricks, his eyes betraying his disbelief. His face was a mask of utter shock. ‘In that single strike,’ he thought, ‘I felt a terrifying, destructive power… It was unstoppable, like the might of the heavens itself!’
‘And that was just from a casual flick of his finger. If he were to use his full strength, what kind of monstrous power would he unleash? It would probably be enough to shatter the heavens and destroy the earth.’
THUD!
The next moment, Lin Zhenyue’s body shot out like a cannonball and smashed violently into the rubble-strewn ground, gouging out a massive crater and sending up a cloud of dust.
Gu Yun’s expression was calm, his eyes indifferent. He had anticipated this outcome from the moment he attacked.
‘Before this, I considered whether I should go easy on him to let him save face,’ he mused. ‘I could have exchanged a few moves before defeating him. That way, even in defeat, he would have retained some dignity and would have simply lamented my superior strength.’
‘But in the end, I decided to finish it in a single, clean move. The gap in our strength is as wide as the sky. Even though he’s an Elder, this will make him show me proper respect. He’ll understand his own level and won’t come looking for trouble again. It’s better to settle this once and for all.’
“Cough, cough!” Amid the swirling dust, Lin Zhenyue slowly rose from the rubble. He felt as if every bone in his body was broken. He stepped out of the dust cloud, shaking his head. “I’m done, I’m done. It seems this old man really is getting old.”
Lin Zhenyue laughed bitterly to himself. ‘To think I was planning on using my centuries of Cultivation experience in the Tongxuan Realm to give him a pointer or two. And here I am, unable to even take a single one of his moves. ‘Pointers,’ what a joke.’
“Heh, you really don’t pull your punches, kid.”
Lin Zhenyue felt a sharp pain from his internal organs, which felt like they were about to rupture, and he finished with a wry laugh.
