Chapter 758: Chapter 120: Holy Land Pursuit

Suspicion surged in his heart, and he took out the Insect Catching Net to try again.

The result was still the same.

“Could it be related to the Celestial Dao Laws of this place?”

Li Ji’an made a guess in his heart.

However, what puzzled him most at the moment was not the failure of the Dao Artifact, but the tracking ability of the Cangyuan Holy Land Cultivators.

Clearly, his Divine Soul was far stronger than that of ordinary Core Formation Cultivators; even if he restrained his aura and suppressed his cultivation, he should not be discovered so easily.

Yet the fact was, the other side could always pinpoint his position with precision, as if some inescapable mark had been planted on him.

To figure out the reason, he even had the Little Fire Spirit release Origin Flame several times, burning his entire body over and over.

The Origin Flame was incomparably overbearing, enough to burn away the vast majority of man-made marks and Soul Seals.

But even so, he still could not shake off their pursuit.

Another thing he could not figure out no matter how he thought about it was the wanted order issued by the Cangyuan Holy Land.

When passing through a small city, he had seen the wanted notice posted at the city gate.

The wanted order bore his likeness, and the crime stated was actually “stealing the Immortal Pill of a Cangyuan Holy Land Elder, crime monstrous, reward offered for his capture.”

“Stealing an Immortal Pill?”

Whenever Li Ji’an thought of this, he felt it utterly absurd.

He had no ties whatsoever with the Cangyuan Holy Land, he did not even know where the Holy Land’s mountain gate was; how could there be talk of stealing an Immortal Pill?

This was clearly an excuse the Cangyuan Holy Land had fabricated on purpose to hunt him down, and it was obviously a clumsy cover-up to conceal the real reason.

But why did they need to go to such lengths to hunt him?

Just because he had come out of the Abyssal Forbidden Ground?

Li Ji’an’s brows knitted tightly, the doubts in his heart growing deeper and deeper.

“Hm? Coming again?”

Just as he was hesitating, Li Ji’an’s Divine Sense once more caught two auras.

They were a pair of Cultivators wearing the standard Daoist Robes of the Cangyuan Holy Land, who had originally been patrolling normally outside the border of Yuanzhou.

But when they were about a hundred zhang away from him, the two suddenly halted, their gazes locking precisely onto the direction where he was, then closing in on him without the least hesitation.

“It seems that merely dodging can no longer avoid this.”

A sharp glint flashed in Li Ji’an’s eyes.

This half month of unending flight had stirred even his usually broad and gentle Heart Nature into a bit of ire.

Yet cowed by the Holy Land’s prestige, cowed by the heritage of an Immortal Emperor’s legacy, he had been doing his utmost to avoid clashing with them; now, however, he could no longer evade.

Since he could not dodge, he might as well take the initiative and find out what was really going on.

Once he made up his mind, he no longer concealed his figure and proactively sped off in a direction leading away from the Yuanzhou border.

He controlled his speed, deliberately luring that pair of patrol Cultivators toward an abandoned mine pit dozens of miles away.

That mine pit had long since been desolate, the broken walls and shattered ruins laden with the marks of time, making it a perfect place to make a move.

“Thief, where do you think you’re going!”

Seeing this, the patrol Cultivators behind him shouted harshly and accelerated their pursuit.

Li Ji’an could not be bothered to respond and charged straight into the abandoned mine pit.

A moment later, that pair of patrol Cultivators also rushed in.

Li Ji’an looked up and saw that behind this pair of Cultivators were three more Mid-stage Core Formation Cultivators; clearly, this was a complete patrol squad.

“So it really is you! The thief who stole the Holy Land’s Immortal Pill!”

The Mid-stage Core Formation True Man in the lead locked his gaze onto Li Ji’an, his expression icy; the longsword in his hand flashed out of its sheath, spiritual light flickering.

“Save your breath.”

A cold light flashed in Li Ji’an’s eyes; he did not give the other side any chance to say more.

The Magical Power around him erupted all at once, Golden Core pressure far beyond his realm instantly enveloping the entire area.

The faces of those five Cangyuan Holy Land Cultivators changed drastically; they had clearly not expected the “wanted criminal” before them to possess such terrifying strength.

“Late Core Formation? No, Golden Core!” The leader’s expression grew solemn in an instant.

But before they could react, Li Ji’an was already in motion.

The Coiled Dragon Staff appeared out of thin air in his hand; with a shake of the staff, several thick vines sprouted from nowhere, coiling toward the five like venomous snakes.

At the same time, the Flying Sword condensed from Evergreen Magical Power buzzed as it shot out, transforming into three razor-sharp streaks of sword light that went straight for the five men’s vital points.

The Invisibility Puppets hadn’t even been deployed; just the four Tier Three Mid-Stage Puppets already had them firmly suppressed.

This battle held no suspense.

Li Ji’an’s strength far surpassed that of these patrol Cultivators, and with the added advantage of striking while they were unprepared, his attack was like thunder.

In just the short span of a single incense stick, the five Cangyuan Holy Land Cultivators were all slain, their corpses lying in the ruined mine pit, blood staining the ground red.

Li Ji’an put away his Magical Treasures and walked to the corpse of the leader, planning to Soul Search while the man’s soul had not yet fully dispersed so he could find out the reason for the pursuit.

But the instant his Divine Sense touched the other’s Sea of Consciousness, that corpse’s Sea of Consciousness instantly collapsed!

A Restriction had been set in the Sea of Consciousness; once Soul Searched, it would collapse.

He then examined the other four corpses in succession and found that they were all the same.

“If I don’t figure out the reason, I won’t be able to eat or sleep in peace.” After a brief silence, a resolute look rose in Li Ji’an’s heart.
