Chapter 487 464: Ji Shenyun: "Let Pei Yuhang Come!

  • Next Chapter

The news that an emperor had been slaughtered in the marketplace like a stray dog had sent the Capital City into an uproar.

But here, in the Imperial Palace, the very center of power in Great Zhao, almost no one cared.

Due to the Emperor of Zhao's long-standing neglect of his duties, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Liu had long ago seized control of the Imperial Palace's entire Forbidden Army.

Now, under the banner of "eradicating the demon plaguing the nation," the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister were leading thirty thousand soldiers of the Forbidden Army toward the Gilded Dragon Hall!

WHOOSH—

Blinding flames erupted from the once majestic and resplendent Gilded Dragon Hall. As the great vermilion pillars shrieked and splintered in the inferno, the entire structure lost its last supports and collapsed into rubble with a thunderous crash.

A wave of heat blasted them, flushing the faces of the nearby soldiers red.

"Prime Minister, that Demoness must have been utterly annihilated!"

Su Ziheng gazed at the ruins of the palace, still belching black smoke. His tense expression finally relaxed, and he heaved a long sigh of relief.

'Under a barrage that nearly blotted out the sky, no one could have survived, right? Even if she is the legendary Demoness.'

Prime Minister Liu slowly unclenched his sweat-soaked palms.

'The "Ancient Demon Immortal" the Sword Immortal mentioned... was she really killed so easily by us mortals?'

Unlike Prime Minister Liu, the Crown Prince of Zhao at his side had never witnessed the divine feats of a Cultivator as he had with Pei Yuhang.

He lifted his chin arrogantly, his eyes filled with disdain and triumph, a smug smile playing on his lips.

'To him, the so-called National Preceptor was merely a being with somewhat more extraordinary martial skill.'

'And nothing more... than a mortal.'

"We did it! We succeeded!"

The Crown Prince suddenly burst into manic laughter.

"The Demoness who brought chaos to the Imperial Palace is gone, and my father is dead! I can take the throne! I can finally take the throne! Hahaha~~"

But just as the Crown Prince was beside himself with joy...

BANG—!!

A tremendous explosion erupted from the still-raging inferno of the ruins.

Everyone's expression froze instantly. The Crown Prince's arrogant smile froze on his face, Prime Minister Liu's eyes widened in terror, and Su Ziheng subconsciously took a step back.

Tens of tons of bricks and rubble were blasted away by an immense force.

A black and gold aura seeped out, instantly extinguishing any flames it touched. The rubble it contacted corroded into nothing, turning to ash that scattered on the wind.

The Crown Prince of Zhao, Prime Minister Liu, Su Ziheng, and the tens of thousands of Forbidden Army soldiers stared as if seeing a monster at the silver-haired woman standing in the center of the black and gold aura.

After a bombardment that had consumed nearly all the gunpowder in the Capital City, the woman's dark Daoist robes were completely unscathed!

Her silver hair billowed, her face was as cold as ice, and her jet-black eyes were like the Abyss itself, threatening to pull everyone in for eternal damnation.

"Pei Yuhang, is this your masterstroke?"

The corners of Ji Shenyun's blood-red lips curled, but her jet-black eyes held the frost of millennia.

She slowly rose into the air, looking down imperiously at the dark mass of soldiers in the distance. Her dark Daoist robe snapped in the wind like a billowing banner of death.

"I admit, I underestimated you."

Ji Shenyun scoffed, a cruel, cat-and-mouse smile on her face. "I didn't expect you to use these mortals from the Illusion Realm to scheme against me..."

Before the words had even left her lips, a monstrous Black Gold Gang Qi erupted from her, making her devastatingly beautiful face look all the more demonic.

"But—in the face of absolute power, it's meaningless."

On the fortress wall, Prime Minister Liu gazed up at the silver-haired Demoness hanging in the sky. Veins pulsed on his temples, and a look of grim resolve ignited in his cloudy old eyes.

He violently snatched the ceremonial sword from the hands of the Crown Prince, who stood beside him, dumbstruck with fear. An astonishing strength burst from his wrist as he pointed the blade toward the heavens.

"All troops, hear my command!" Prime Minister Liu roared, his voice hoarse and his graying beard trembling violently in the wind. "For Great Zhao, we hunt the Demoness! We will fight to the death!"

"WE OBEY!!"

Tens of thousands of soldiers roared in unison, the shockwave of their voices making the very stones of the fortress wall tremble.

Ji Shenyun watched with cold eyes as the army surged toward her like a tide, the corner of her mouth hooking into a mocking smile.

She lifted a hand, and a gale of black-gold Gang Qi roared forth like a vicious dragon.

The Forbidden Army soldiers at the head of the charge didn't even have time to scream before their bodies, armor and all, were reduced to ash.

"Hmph."

Ji Shenyun narrowed her eyes in contempt, watching as the charging soldiers of the Forbidden Army dissolved into nothing in the gale of Gang Qi. "You ants of the Human Race," she said coldly. "After all these millennia, you are still just as senseless."

Yet, as the soldiers behind them watched their comrades turn to ash, their eyes grew bloodshot, but not a single one flinched.

They gritted their teeth and advanced over the scorched earth, now covered in ash, their shields locking together with a deafening CRASH.

"KILL—!"

A young commander suddenly broke through an opening in the gale of Gang Qi.

His eyes were crimson, his face crisscrossed with bloody cuts from the wind. The great saber in his hand gleamed menacingly as he spurred his warhorse into a leap, swinging his blade down at Ji Shenyun.

Ji Shenyun arched an eyebrow, a flicker of interest in her eyes for the mortal who had managed to break through her defense.

But in the next instant, with a flick of her delicate hand, she watched with a cruel smile as the young commander exploded into a mist of blood in midair.

A scarlet rain of blood drifted down, only to be repelled by an invisible barrier three feet from her body.

Ji Shenyun laughed softly, her eyes devoid of any warmth. "Then let's see just how many lives you're willing to feed me."

This was without a doubt a massacre.

Even Pei Yuhang could crush the world's strongest Martial Artists without using his Spiritual Qi Cultivation.
