Dao Companion Crippled, Coveters Move
Chapter 525 482: Pei Yuhang, Are You Still Going to See Ye Liyuan?
"Forget her..."
Her voice grew quiet, laced with a barely perceptible plea.
"Isn't having me with you enough?"
BUZZ—
BUZZ—
In the silent room, apart from the breathing of the man and woman, the repetitive busy signal from the Transmission Token was especially jarring.
Shang Miaoyan's eyes narrowed. 'Ye Liyuan... You just won't go away, will you!'
She stared at the constantly flashing Transmission Token, her chest heaving violently. It was as if every vibration from the token was Ye Liyuan mocking her!
'You bitch! If you're the one causing Xiaohan so much pain, why do you keep pestering him?'
'Why... can't you just disappear completely?!'
Shang Miaoyan's fingers suddenly splayed open. A scorching light gathered in her palm, and the searing Spiritual Power made the very air around it twist and distort.
However, just as she was about to strike—
A long, strong hand suddenly clasped her wrist. The grip wasn't heavy, but it was impossible to resist.
"That's enough, Xiaoxuan."
"Just because I'm going to see her doesn't mean I'll abandon you."
Pei Yuhang gently squeezed Shang Miaoyan's hand, as if soothing an angry cat, but his tone was firm and left no room for doubt.
"I... have to see her."
Shang Miaoyan's fingertips trembled slightly. The fire in her palm flickered unwillingly a few times before finally extinguishing.
She stared daggers at him, her red lips parting as if to say something, but in the end, she just let out a cold sneer and turned her face away.
Pei Yuhang, meanwhile, bent down, picked up the clothes scattered on the floor, and deftly threw on his robes.
Finally, he picked up the still-buzzing Transmission Token, pushed open the door, and walked out into the heavy rain.
Shang Miaoyan sat on the bed, staring intently at the closed door.
Her chest heaved violently, her pale fingers gripping the bedsheets so tightly her knuckles turned white.
'Xiaohan still went...'
'He still... can't let go of other women!'
THUMP!
Shang Miaoyan slammed her fist into the bed. The soft brocade quilt sank, letting out a muffled sound.
"Damn it...!"
Her voice was hoarse, laced with an irrepressible tremor.
'What on earth do I have to do... to make him have eyes only for me?!'
Shang Miaoyan took a deep breath, trying to calm her churning emotions, but the rage in her chest only burned hotter.
Just then, the shadow beneath her began to slowly squirm.
The pitch-black shadow spread like flowing water, finally coalescing into a slender figure beside her.
Fan Xuan emerged from the darkness and stood silently to the side.
Her gaze fell on the pouring rain outside the window, her eyes deep and unreadable.
After a long moment, she finally spoke in a low voice:
"Holy Daughter..."
"Using my identity to get close to him... is not a sustainable plan."
Shang Miaoyan slowly turned her head, her gaze sharp as a knife as it fixed on Fan Xuan.
She took a deep breath, then began unhurriedly combing through her disheveled black hair, the corner of her lips curling into a mocking smile.
"What's wrong?"
"Did seeing how happy I just was with Xiaohan displease you?"
Fan Xuan lowered her eyes and immediately knelt. Her head was bowed, her long lashes casting a shadow beneath her eyes.
"I wouldn't dare."
Shang Miaoyan sneered, casually tucking a strand of hair behind her ear as she rose and walked over to Fan Xuan.
She tilted her head down slightly, looking down at her with a condescending air. Her eyes were filled with cold pressure as she used her fingertips to gently lift Fan Xuan's chin, forcing her to meet her gaze.
"Fan Xuan, don't you forget—"
"You were the one who let Xiaohan get away back then. Now, you are atoning for your mistake. Everything you're doing, you owe me."
Shang Miaoyan's voice was soft, but every word was like a knife, causing Fan Xuan's fingertips to quietly clench.
"So, whatever I want to do, you have no right to interfere."
"I'll use your face, your identity to get close to him, and even—"
She leaned close to Fan Xuan's ear, her red lips parting as she exhaled a breath as sinister as a viper's.
"—use your body to seduce him... and you can only watch."
Fan Xuan's pupils contracted slightly, but they quickly returned to normal.
She silently lowered her head, her voice so quiet it was barely audible:
"...I understand."
"Hmph. You'd better understand."
Satisfied, Shang Miaoyan released her hand and turned to walk toward the window.
In the curtain of rain, Pei Yuhang's figure was long gone.
Her expression gradually darkened. She caressed the window frame with her fingertips and murmured:
"Xiaohan, you can't escape... Other women will only bring you greater pain. Compared to them, I am your final refuge."
...
...
Meanwhile, Pei Yuhang walked out the door and into the torrential rain.
The rain poured down in a sheet, and huge drops splattered against the ground, sending up countless splashes.
But Pei Yuhang's expression was calm. A lustrous Spiritual Energy Shield formed around him, repelling all the rain. His robes remained perfectly still in the wind and rain, and not even a single strand of his hair was wet.
The Transmission Token in his robes was still vibrating incessantly, letting out an annoying buzz.
Pei Yuhang's long fingers gently stroked the edge of the Token. After a moment of silence, he accepted the call.
"Liyuan."
Pei Yuhang called out softly.
After that absurd encounter with "Fan Xuan," he had managed to sort through his thoughts.
He had come to a conclusion: he still couldn't accept a Dao Companion who had deceived him for decades and whose hands were stained with countless dark deeds.
He decided that he and Ye Liyuan would live separately for the time being!
However... for several moments after Pei Yuhang spoke, there was still no response from the other end of the Transmission Token.
Pei Yuhang's brow furrowed slightly, a flicker of confusion crossing his deep eyes.
"Liyuan?"
He called out again, a hint of unease now in his voice.
But the other end of the Transmission Token remained silent. All Pei Yuhang could hear was the soft patter of raindrops on his shield.
His breathing quickened unconsciously, and his fingers tightened around the Transmission Token.
"Liyuan, can you hear me?"
Pei Yuhang's voice rose sharply, and clear anxiety appeared on his face.
A dead silence spread.
Pei Yuhang's thin lips pressed into a tight line.
'How dramatic. Just before, it was Liyuan who couldn't get a hold of me. Now, I'm the one who can't get a response from her.'
A sense of unease rising in his heart, Pei Yuhang's gaze sharpened. Without hesitation, he stepped into the air, his figure moving like a bolt of lightning. In an instant, he was hovering above the Cold Palace Sword Mansion, his vast Divine Thought pouring down like a tidal wave to envelop the entire estate.
Soon, he located the familiar aura.
'Ye Liyuan was in the master bedroom where he and Liyuan usually rested!'
However, her aura was in complete chaos, and it even exuded a faint, sinister coldness!
'Something's happened to Liyuan!'
Pei Yuhang's mind reeled as a burning wave of anxiety shot through him.
His figure flickered. Space distorted, and in the next instant, he had torn through the air to appear outside the master bedroom door.
"Liyuan! Can you hear me?"
As Pei Yuhang rushed into the room, his voice held a rare tremor.
On the bed before him, Ye Liyuan—wearing his clothes—was deathly pale, her lips bloodless. She was curled up tightly, like a small, dying animal.
Her slender fingers were desperately clutching one of his white robes. Her body trembled uncontrollably, and her breathing was rapid and weak, as if she were trapped in a nightmare from which she could never awaken.
Pei Yuhang touched her hand and found her body to be frighteningly cold.
'Did she catch a chill?'
'No... Liyuan is a Divinity Transformation Cultivator. With Spiritual Qi protecting her body, a mere chill wouldn't reduce her to this state.'
Pei Yuhang used his Pupil Technique to perceive his Dao Companion's Spiritual Qi and immediately discovered that her originally clear aura was now tainted with a chaotic blackness!
"It's a Dao Heart Demon!"
Pei Yuhang's pupils shrank. He immediately helped her sit up and began circulating his own Pure Yang True Qi, pouring it into Ye Liyuan's body. He intended to use the ultimate Pure Yang Fire Qi to help Liyuan purify the Qi Sea that had been contaminated by the Heart Demon.
Perhaps sensing Pei Yuhang's familiar scent, the unconscious Ye Liyuan regained a sliver of awareness.
Like a newborn, she instinctively grabbed the white robes on Pei Yuhang's chest and nestled into his embrace, murmuring indistinctly.
"No... Ah Han, don't leave me."
"I haven't done anything wrong..."
"I didn't hurt them... those people... and Xiaoling, I didn't hurt any of them! I didn't even know..."
"I'm sorry..."
Hearing this, Pei Yuhang subconsciously clenched his fists.
But then he relaxed his hands and slowly exhaled a heavy breath.
"Liyuan, I'm right here with you now. I'm not going anywhere. Let's focus on getting you better, okay?"
Held in Pei Yuhang's warm embrace, Ye Liyuan's cold body shifted slightly. She mumbled groggily, "...Okay."
