Dao Companion Crippled, Coveters Move
Chapter 541 490: Resurrecting Ji Shenyun, The Chosen One's Plot
The Kunlun Mountain Range, the Land of the Far North in the Cultivation Realm.
This was a land of eternal frost, with glaciers as sharp as blades and winds as cutting as knives, a place that had not thawed for millions of years.
But today, this isolated, frozen world received several uninvited guests.
A man in black stood at the head of the group, his frame as rigid as cast iron.
He clutched five jet-black chains. At their ends, five Great Demons, battered and bruised, lay prostrate. Each radiated the ferocious Evil Qi of the Void Refining Realm, but now they could only manage low whimpers, their eyes filled with humiliation and resentment.
Beside the man in black stood a middle-aged man in a platinum-gold robe, his hands clasped behind his back and his gaze as sharp as a hawk's.
He narrowed his eyes slightly, gazing out at the vast, endless snowy mountains before him as if searching for something.
"Found it."
He spoke slowly, his voice low and confident. "The place where the Empress of the Ancient Asura Race is suppressed. The only Saint in the world today... If we can secure her help, victory in the third great war in the Cultivation Realm, which the organization is about to launch, will be all but assured."
He turned his head to look at the man in black, his eyes as deep as an abyss.
"Begin summoning our helpers. Without a few Mahayana Stage masters here to hold the line, even if we release that arrogant Ancient Empress, I'm afraid she'll just betray us on the spot."
"Yes, Profound Celestial Bishop!"
The man in black lowered his head respectfully, a flicker of fanaticism in his eyes.
With a flip of his hand, he produced an ancient Copper Mirror. Its surface was mottled, and its edges were entwined with eerie Runes.
The moment the Copper Mirror appeared, the five Great Demons behind him grew agitated, terror filling their eyes.
'They recognized that cursed thing! It was that forbidden object, an item that defied all logic, that had summoned countless undead from eras past into the present world.'
'With the help of those ancient powerhouses, their Northern Desert Demon Court had nearly fallen under the assault of the Chosen Organization!!'
The Great Demons struggled, but the Restrictions on the chains left them utterly weak, their roars turning feeble and listless.
"You beasts!"
The man in black let out a sinister laugh, his voice hoarse and feverish. "You will make a great contribution to the grand cause of us, the Chosen! Feel honored that you were fortunate enough to be selected!"
Before his voice had faded, he violently raised the Copper Mirror. A grayish-black miasma suddenly flared up on its surface, and within it, a strange purple pupil faintly appeared, gazing coldly and mercilessly upon the world.
VMMMM—!
A brilliant purple light shot out from the mirror, coiling around the five Great Demons like a venomous snake.
The Great Demons let out blood-curdling wails as their bodies twisted and collapsed in the purple light. The crisp snap of breaking bones was clearly audible as they were ultimately reduced to five indescribable heaps of flesh.
With a crazed look on his face, the man in black began chanting an obscure scripture:
"By spirit core, I guide you through the nether hall. Three souls to your seat, seven spirits to my call... Faded shades are not yet silent, ancient memories still burn bright. By this rite as our pact, I summon you back to the light!"
'Spirit Core Rejuvenation Technique!!'
Once the chant was complete, he violently slammed the Copper Mirror into the ground!
CRACKLE—
Countless black Curse Seals poured out from the mirror like a tide, spreading madly across the ice. In the blink of an eye, they had swarmed over the twisted heaps of flesh.
The heaps of flesh convulsed violently, emitting a hair-raising SIZZLE.
Purple vapor rose, and the heaps of flesh gradually dissipated.
In their place stood three stiff figures—
Three elders, their skin a ghastly waxen color and their eyes tightly shut. A deathly stillness surrounded them.
Their robes were ancient and magnificent, yet marked by the ravages of time, as if they had just crawled from their graves.
"The third Sect Leader of the Jade Pool Sacred Land, the fourth Martial God of Martial God Mountain, and the third Sect Leader of the Dragon Roar Sword Sect."
The man in black knelt on one knee, reporting to the Profound Celestial Bishop, his voice trembling slightly with excitement. "These three deceased have been recalled from the river of history.
Unfortunately, the two Taoist Lords of the Xuanyuan Dao Sect failed to arrive. Otherwise..."
"Enough. Summoning three peerless Great Powers is already quite good. They should be more than enough to provide support while we negotiate with Ji Shenyun.
Even if her Divine Abilities are heaven-defying and she's the only Saint in the world, she's been suppressed for countless eons. With her seal just broken, she's bound to be incredibly weak."
"That Empress will have no choice but to obediently wear the chains our organization has prepared for her and become a slave to the grand cause of us, the Chosen~"
The Profound Celestial Bishop sneered, and with a raise of his hand, he tore open the barrier to the Kunlun Secret Realm and strode inside.
Seeing the Bishop go on ahead, the man in black quickly activated a Secret Technique, making the three Holy Land Sect Leaders "come alive" and follow him.
CRACK... CRACK...
With the sound of stiffly moving joints, the kind-faced old woman on the far left suddenly opened her eyes, her cloudy pupils swiveling mechanically.
The robust, white-bearded old man in the middle began to breathe, his chest heaving violently. With each breath, the veins beneath his skin bulged further.
The one-armed man on the right, a sword at his waist, kept his head bowed, but the snow for thirty feet around him was silently vaporizing.
"Let's go, you three Sect Leaders."
"Welcome to the new age~"
...
...
Qing Yueqiu stared blankly at the black-gold energy fading in midair. Ji Shenyun's resentful cry echoed in her mind, and the shock in her crimson eyes lingered for a long, long time.
'That Ancient Demon who had troubled her for so many days... was finished off by Grandmaster with just a simple clench of his fist?'
'Is this Grandmaster's power?'
'This is the person Master admires the most...'
'And from what Ji Shenyun said, it seems she knows Grandmaster... In the Kunlun Secret Realm, the Four Symbols Array that sealed her had obvious signs of damage. It seems Grandmaster was the one who did that.'
'No wonder Grandmaster knew when a wisp of Ji Shenyun's Split Soul attached itself to me. He must have left some countermeasures in place back there.'
