Dao Companion Crippled, Coveters Move
Chapter 588 513: Reuniting with Yueqiu
The moonlight poured down like water, illuminating a slender figure nestled closely behind Pei Yuhang.
Her silver hair, like freshly fallen snow, shimmered faintly in the night. For a dizzying moment, Pei Yuhang's heart skipped a beat; he almost thought it was Ji Shenyun.
But if it had been that wanton woman, she would have long since disregarded the situation, her hands roaming freely over his body. She might have even deliberately breathed against his ear and laughed, just to watch him squirm in embarrassment.
The silver-haired girl behind him, however, simply leaned against him quietly. Her breathing was shallow, and a warm breath carrying a familiar, faint fragrance brushed against the nape of his neck.
Her voice was incredibly soft, like a whisper in a dream, or like a long-suppressed yearning that had finally found an outlet:
"Master... Yueqiu missed you so much..."
Pei Yuhang's pupils contracted. He thought he must be dreaming.
He spun around abruptly. The silver-haired girl's face was clearly visible in the moonlight—
It was her... It was really her!
His first disciple, who had left without a word, shouldering the curse all by herself!
"...Yueqiu?"
A tremor of disbelief laced Pei Yuhang's voice.
He never would have imagined that the "reinforcements" Ji Shenyun had mentioned would turn out to be his own head disciple.
'But... doesn't that woman Ji Shenyun hate Yueqiu more than anyone? Isn't her possessiveness over me just a way to make Yueqiu jealous and get her revenge?'
'Why would Ji Shenyun allow Yueqiu to reunite with me?'
Qing Yueqiu tilted her face up slightly, her eyelashes trembling. A mist seemed to gather in her crimson eyes.
"Master, I'm back."
Her fingertips clutched tightly at Pei Yuhang's sleeve, as if terrified of being separated from him again.
Coming to his senses, Pei Yuhang swiftly pulled the young woman into a tight embrace.
He felt the increasingly rapid beat of her heart against his chest and asked softly:
"Yueqiu, where have you been all this time?"
"I've missed you so much, too. Why did you leave without telling me? You never got in touch after you left..."
The silver-haired girl, nestled in Pei Yuhang's arms, felt her master's longing and affection. The corners of her lips curved up in a sweet smile, as if she had just eaten a honeyed date.
"Master, after I left you, I went searching for the mysterious Yama Hall... They say there's a way to break Ji Shenyun's curse there.
I haven't sent any messages for the past six months because it's impossible to communicate with the outside world from anywhere near Yama Hall. Otherwise, how could I have possibly stopped myself from contacting you, Master?"
'The mysterious Yama Hall of the Cultivation Realm... reinforcements... the "old-timer" Ji Shenyun mentioned... and my long-lost disciple...'
Pei Yuhang frowned slightly. He was beginning to sense a connection.
But just then, a sharp rebuke interrupted his thoughts.
"Hey, hey, hey! How long are you two lovebirds going to be all over each other?"
"We're supposed to be in Stealth, sneaking into the city! No guards have spotted us yet, so let's get a move on!"
Bei Lingyin sounded impatient, as if she were sick of the cloyingly sweet atmosphere between the master and disciple in front of her.
In reality, she was secretly sending a telepathic message to Qing Yueqiu, warning her not to expose all of Yama Hall's secrets to Pei Yuhang.
'The righteous and demonic factions can never coexist,' she thought. 'Pei Yuhang is from the Xuanyuan Dao Sect. If he seduces Qing Yueqiu and gets his hands on detailed information about Yama Hall, we'll be in big trouble.'
Hearing this, Qing Yueqiu gave Bei Lingyin a helpless look.
But when she turned back to Pei Yuhang, little stars seemed to sparkle in her crimson eyes again.
"Master, this is Bei Lingyin, a friend of mine.
She'll be joining us on this mission. Some other people from Yama Hall have already reached the Demon Race's territory in the Endless Sea and are attempting to get to the Blood Skull Chalice.
If everything goes according to plan, we'll head to the Endless Sea in three days, grab the Blood Skull Chalice, and get out of there."
Bei Lingyin was wearing makeup, making her look different from when she had infiltrated Shang Miaoyan's side, so Pei Yuhang didn't recognize her immediately. He just found her vaguely familiar.
However, after hearing Qing Yueqiu's introduction, his gaze swept over Bei Lingyin with vigilance. He then subtly moved Qing Yueqiu behind him protectively.
"Someone from Yama Hall... It seems you've known Yueqiu for a long time. Were you the one who 'lured' her away from the Sect back then?"
A cold glint flashed in Pei Yuhang's eyes. The aura around him condensed, and though he hadn't drawn his sword, an oppressive pressure began to emanate from him.
Bei Lingyin squirmed under his gaze, her mouth twitching as she complained frantically in her mind:
'What's with that look? I'm not a kidnapper! Besides, it was Sister Yueqiu who wanted to come with me!'
Unfortunately, she possessed neither Ji Shenyun's overwhelming power to crush Pei Yuhang, nor Shang Miaoyan's knack for precisely exploiting his weaknesses.
Faced with the "Cold Sun Sword Immortal," the man ranked first on the Cultivation Realm's Divine Monarch List, she was completely helpless.
Resigned, she could only shoot Qing Yueqiu a subtle look, her eyes screaming with urgency:
'Quick! Use your feminine wiles! Hurry up and coax your master so he stops staring at me like I'm a human trafficker!'
Qing Yueqiu received her signal, blinked, and the corner of her lips tilted up. She then gently tugged on Pei Yuhang's sleeve and said softly:
"Master, Sister Lingyin is a very good person. She took great care of me on our journey..."
"Master, your disciple knows you have many concerns... When it's late and quiet tonight, Yueqiu will explain everything to you privately..."
Pei Yuhang's brow furrowed. His gaze lingered on his disciple's face for a moment, and seeing her earnest expression, he reined in some of his hostility. Still, he didn't lower his guard, merely saying in a low voice:
