Dao Lord: Starting from a Top-grade Golden Core
Chapter 164 - 99: Clay Chickens and Tile Dogs
Chapter 164: Chapter 99: Clay Chickens and Tile Dogs
The flood dragon was vanquished, and the thunderclouds began to disperse, allowing rays of daylight to pierce through the gaps.
Hearing the voice, Lieyun was instantly overjoyed and cried out, "Master!"
The expressions of everyone present changed. They looked up to see a figure who had appeared in the sky at some unknown time. His back was to the sun, obscuring his face. As he raised a hand, his wide sleeves billowed, and he pointed a finger gently downward.
SHING! A clear ring echoed as a cold light flared. A beam of sword light, like a bolt of lightning, shot out and traced a thousand-zhang rainbow as it slashed straight down.
The Skull Dragon Elder shouted in alarm, "Attack!" Everyone knew this was a critical moment and dared not hold back, unleashing all their techniques at once.
A sky full of hair-thin black ropes rose to meet the attack head-on, but the sword light didn’t even try to evade it. With a single flash, the myriad black ropes shattered inch by inch. The light then met the two beams of sword light from the Two Sword Monarchs and cleaved right through their pincer attack!
The instant they made contact, a cringe-inducing, shattering sound echoed through the void. The Two Sword Monarchs let out a wretched howl, spat out mouthfuls of blood, and plummeted from the sky.
The newcomer was, without a doubt, Xuzhuang. With his level of Swordsmanship and the power of his Taiyi Rainbow Sword, how could these people possibly withstand him? With a single strike, he had destroyed a cultivator’s bonded Flying Sword, grievously injuring its owner.
Everyone’s expression changed drastically. However, Xuzhuang had no intention of tangling with them any longer. He formed a Sword Technique seal with one hand, and the beam of sword light quivered in mid-air. It then multiplied, splitting into innumerable beams that shot out in all directions, instantly transforming the sky into a blinding world of light.
Sixty-four dazzling rainbows of light crisscrossed the sky, slashing wantonly. No matter the Spell, Magical Artifact, golden corpse, or iron corpse, all were severed in a single strike. Wherever the blades’ edges passed, heads rolled.
Another beam of light flashed past. The Skull Dragon Elder let out a great shout, but before he could mount any resistance, his head was sent flying. The sword light passed through him as if he were nothing and shot off toward another target.
Unexpectedly, the Skull Dragon Elder’s head had not flown far when the large tumor on it burst open with a SPLAT. A red-backed centipede shot out amidst a spray of blood, unfolded six cicada-like wings on its back, and with a gentle flap, instantly shot several hundred zhang away, about to make its escape.
Xuzhuang was slightly surprised, but that was all. He casually pointed a finger. BOOM! A crimson thunderbolt flashed through the air and, in the blink of an eye, struck the red-backed centipede.
The creature shrieked as the Thunderproof Brocade Handkerchief rose from its back once more, flying up to meet the attack. It intended to use the same trick to block the thunder Spell, but upon contact with the Profound Fire True Thunder, the Thunder Protection Cloth was like paper meeting a blade. It instantly lost its spiritual light and was torn apart. The thunderbolt, its momentum unbroken, descended upon the red-backed centipede with another BOOM, erupting in crimson thunder-fire before vanishing and leaving only emptiness behind.
These low-to-mid-tier Golden Core Cultivators, who walked such unorthodox paths, were like clay chickens and pottery dogs before Xuzhuang’s sword—utterly defenseless. This ferocious display terrified Jiang Shicheng, his eyes filling with dread and his legs trembling uncontrollably. When he saw Xuzhuang’s sword light flying toward him, his soul nearly fled his body. As he summoned his Magical Artifact to block, he screamed, "Fellow Daoist, spare me! I am willing to surrender—"
Before he could finish speaking, his Magical Artifact was split in two. The sword light flashed, and his head and body parted ways, each plummeting toward the ground.
By now, in the space of just a few breaths, Xuzhuang had already killed eight people. Only Song Yuming, Taishi Zhe, and Quan Youfeng remained in the air, their faces as white as paper and their teeth chattering in terror.
Xuzhuang smiled faintly and halted the beams of sword light, leaving them suspended in the air. A single beam turned and shot toward Lieyun. With one slash, it severed the Yellow Smoke Rope. Lieyun’s massive draconic body was instantly freed, and he let out a long roar. But when he saw Xuzhuang glance his way, he immediately froze and put on his signature sycophantic grin.
Seeing this overwhelmingly ferocious flood dragon act so meek and cautious before Xuzhuang, Song Yuming, Taishi Zhe, and Quan Youfeng were at a loss for what to think. They felt cold sweat soaking their temples and a bitter taste in their mouths. Although the beams of sword light had stopped moving, they still hung suspended in every direction, and the three men dared not move an inch.
"Taishi Zhe, isn’t it? I remember you." Xuzhuang drifted down, landing just above the three of them. He swept his gaze over them before letting it rest on Quan Youfeng and saying coolly, "And you. I recall you as well. Are you also from the Moyun Sect?"
Xuzhuang had spared these three alone for a reason. He had seen Taishi Zhe and Quan Youfeng before at Lianyun Mountain. As for Song Yuming, the fact that he could produce a Tier Six Daoist Talisman made it easy to deduce he was the mastermind, or at least the coordinator. All of them could be useful later; Xuzhuang already had a plan forming in his mind.
As for Jiang Shicheng, Xuzhuang had never met him. His death, it seemed, was for nothing.
Hearing Xuzhuang’s question, Taishi Zhe replied in a strained voice, "That is correct. Greetings, Fellow Daoist."
Seeing Xuzhuang land nearby, the thought of a surprise attack rose in Quan Youfeng’s mind. But as he watched the rainbows of light flickering all around them, pulsing with Sword Qi, he couldn’t bring himself to act. When he heard Taishi Zhe speak, a wave of relief washed over him. He cupped his fists and replied, "Quan Youfeng. Greetings, Fellow Daoist."
Xuzhuang nodded slightly, flicked out two yellow talismans, and said coolly, "Accept my Detention Skill, and you may avoid death."
Taishi Zhe was decisive. He simply closed his eyes, and the yellow talisman landed on his forehead, causing his entire body to stiffen.
Quan Youfeng’s expression shifted several times. He asked in a low voice, "May I ask what you intend to do with us, Fellow Daoist?"
Xuzhuang said coolly, "That is not for you to know, Fellow Daoist. If you would prefer death, I can grant you a quick end."
Quan Youfeng’s face twitched. He then closed his eyes and submitted.
Xuzhuang was not surprised. He called Lieyun over and ordered him to take the men. Lieyun didn’t stand on ceremony. He opened his massive, bloody maw and, with a GULP, swallowed both of them whole. The sight made the corner of Song Yuming’s eye twitch.
