Chapter 225: Chapter 129: Ferocious Might of the Panlong Great Halberd; Masterful Scheming Falls 1 Move Short

Without a second thought, Chu River raised a finger. A Divine Wind instantly howled forth from above the Gangyun. Yang Bijie struggled to steady himself mid-air, but a calm smile actually spread across his face.

It turned out that after his strike with the Panlong Halberd had failed to take Chu River’s life, Yang Bijie knew he had lost his chance for victory. His subsequent attack was merely a ploy to force Chu River’s Nascent Soul from its body so he could destroy the physical shell.

This was an overt scheme by Yang Bijie, and he had indeed achieved his goal. The Chu River everyone now saw was, in fact, merely his Nascent Soul body. It was only because he was a Nascent Soul Great Successor Cultivator, his spiritual energy cultivated to perfection, that it manifested an appearance seemingly identical to his true self. While this form was approaching that of a Primordial Spirit, in essence, the two were still worlds apart.

A Primordial Spirit Practitioner’s spirit can coalesce into a physical form or disperse into energy. Its appearance is born from the mind, and it can even leave the physical body, travel through the Qingming, and roam freely between Heaven and Earth.

But a Nascent Soul, no matter how perfect or how much it resembled its true self, ultimately could not exist separate from a physical body. Now that Yang Bijie had destroyed Chu River’s body, his path of cultivation was severed. How could he not be furious?

Thus, even though Yang Bijie had already conceded defeat, Chu River was still seething with a maddening hatred. He raised his finger, and a Divine Wind began to howl from above the Gangyun once more. Just as the Gang Stone Annihilation Divine Wind was about to be unleashed, a streak of rainbow light suddenly shot upward. It materialized into a graceful and elegant young master in a loose sash and light furs, who stylishly blocked Chu River’s path. Waving a folding fan, he said, "That’s enough. Do you want the Divine Flow Sect to become a public enemy?"

Chu River’s heart sank. He was suddenly reminded that this was the Celestial Waterfall Dharma Assembly, in full public view. Yang Bijie had already conceded. Killing him might be satisfying, but it couldn’t change the reality that his physical body was devoid of life. Worse, it would give others a pretext to interfere in the struggle between the Divine Flow and Dragon Image factions.

Chu River lowered his arm, and the Divine Wind above the Gangyun gradually died down. Seeing this, Yang Bijie knew at once that Chu River would not press the attack. Strangely, a look of what seemed like regret appeared on his face. He gave a casual salute and descended back toward the Jade Platform in a flicker of light.

Chu River watched with cold eyes as Yang Bijie returned to the Dragon Image Jade Platform. Only then did he slowly say, "Thank you for the reminder, fellow Daoist."

He Haojun waved his folding fan and offered a gentle smile. "Junior Brother Chu," he advised, "we are now of the same sect. You should just call me Senior Brother."

Chu River had already lost his physical body and thus no longer posed a threat to He Haojun’s claim on the Grotto Heaven position. In fact, if he chose not to reincarnate and start anew, but instead found a body to possess, he could even become He Haojun’s right-hand man. It was only natural, then, for He Haojun to speak to him so warmly.

Chu River naturally understood the implications. His expression darkened for a moment, but he slowly clasped his hands in a salute and responded, "Yes... Senior Brother He."

A satisfied look appeared on He Haojun’s face. He said, "You have worked hard in this match, Junior Brother. Go on down and recuperate. I will handle the next match personally."

Chu River looked down to see Yang Bijie return to the Jade Platform. Without even pausing to recuperate, Yang Bijie said a few words to the Crane Robe Taoist beside him, who simply smiled in response. The sight of their calm expressions was an unbearable sting to Chu River’s eyes. After a moment of consideration, he said, "Senior Brother, I still have half of my Magical Power. Why not let me fight another round?"

"Oh?" He Haojun was slightly taken aback. He hadn’t expected Chu River’s mentality to shift so quickly. After a moment’s deliberation, he replied, "Junior Brother, there’s no need to force it. A mere Nascent Soul Second Level Cultivator is someone I can handle with ease."

Chu River replied in a low voice, "Senior Brother, the Dragon Image faction clearly came prepared. If I fight another match, even if I can’t win, I can at least force them to reveal another one or two of their techniques."

Chu River was certainly one who could be flexible, but he wasn’t doing this for He Haojun; he was doing it for the future of the Divine Flow Sect’s Dao lineage.

He had schemed endlessly to help the Divine Flow Sect become one of the Five Domains Great Sects. Now, he had even lost his physical body. Having come this far, even a one-in-ten-thousand chance of defeat was unacceptable to him.

Seeing Chu River’s determination, He Haojun slowly nodded and simply said, "If that’s the case, then I’ll have to trouble you to fight another round, Junior Brother."

Chu River did not respond. He watched He Haojun fly back down to the Jade Platform, then fixed his gaze upon the Dragon Image Jade Platform. Taking a deep breath, he roared, "Dragon Image whelps, who’s next to face me!"
