Chapter 294: Chapter 160: Refining Primordial Essence for Yin-Yang; A Star’s Demise, A Return to Profound Yellow
"This isn’t a disturbance from a Celestial Demon." Xuzhuang’s brow furrowed. He had already refined the Ming Venerable’s Image Pendant into his Gangyun, which constantly purified his mind and spirit. It was highly unlikely for him to be so easily troubled by external demons. Now, operating at full power, he still felt nothing out of the ordinary, so he could rule out that possibility.
He mulled it over for a moment, thinking, ’Regardless, I can’t underestimate this anomaly. Even if I can’t find a clue, I should remain vigilant.’ With a flick of his sleeve, he instantly teleported from the meditation chamber into the grand hall.
Lieyun, being just a young beast, had never before witnessed the marvel of Xuzhuang’s Three-Element Dharma Body. He had assumed his master was in the hall the entire time, so when he suddenly saw two Xuzhuangs, he was left gaping in astonishment.
Xuzhuang, however, couldn’t be bothered to explain. He merged the Dharma Body in the hall back into himself, then beckoned with a wave of his hand. The dozen or so purification vases suspended in the hall slowly floated down before him.
A single glance brought a faint smile of pleasure to Xuzhuang’s face. For seven years, the Du Xu Palace had unceasingly collected and refined Cosmic Primordial Qi. Vases were now filled to the brim with the likes of solar Spiritual Essence, Taiyin Spirit Essence, and various other star-based energies.
But what truly gave Xuzhuang a pleasant surprise was, of course, the class of Spiritual Truths that only a Primordial Spirit True Man could refine. Among them, conspicuously, was Yin Yang Essence. Looking into one of the purification vases, he saw three round, jade-like Profound White Condensed Pearls.
Though the number seemed small, a single drop of this Yin Yang Essence was incomparably more precious than any amount of Yin Yang True Sand. The Yin and Yang Qi within wasn’t even the most crucial part; it was the contained principles of yin-yang transformation that cultivators yearned for but could never obtain.
In addition, there was another substance called Primordial Magnetic Qi Truth. Xuzhuang didn’t know how it formed, only that it was a type of stellar energy and one of the easiest Spiritual Truths to condense, which explained its greater quantity.
It was yet unknown if this substance would be beneficial to Xuzhuang’s cultivation, but its value was self-evident. He was still pleased and stored it away, thinking, ’This journey has already taken seven years, and the rewards have been substantial. I might as well return to the Profound Yellow Realm.’
Although there was no sun or moon to mark the days in the void, the Du Xu Palace had a formation that recorded the passage of time. Furthermore, a cultivator never lacked an internal sense for such things. With a quick calculation, Xuzhuang knew how long had passed. It was indeed time to return to his sect.
Just as he was contemplating this, Xuzhuang’s Spiritual Sense suddenly stirred. He focused his perception, and sure enough, less than a breath later, the grand hall trembled once more. This time, the tremor was far more violent, so much so that it activated the Defense Array. Talismans began to flash and light up on the hall’s beams and pillars.
Xuzhuang frowned. His eyes narrowed slightly before opening again as he activated his Dharma Eyes. A divine light shot out, piercing through the hall’s dome as he gazed into the void.
This tremor was more intense, but this time he was prepared. By concentrating his senses, he was able to faintly discern the direction from which the impact originated. Unfortunately, the void was too vast and profound. He peered into the distance but couldn’t see clearly, only sensing a faint, flickering light, vastly different from the steady, unchanging glow of the stars.
After a moment of contemplation, Xuzhuang refused to give up the search. He closed his Dharma Eyes, then formed a hand seal to activate another formation within the Du Xu Palace. This formation was called ’Cosmic Vista’, and as its name implied, its purpose was to illuminate the void for observation.
The name ’Cosmic Vista’ might have been a bit grandiose, but its function was truly extraordinary. Seven years prior, it was precisely this formation that had allowed Xuzhuang to detect the Western Dage True Gold inside the Hanging Stone Star Ore. The time was ripe to use it again.
Xuzhuang didn’t manifest Cosmic Vista’s effects externally. With a single incantation, the formation in the Du Xu Palace empowered him directly. A brilliant, clear light immediately shone from his eyes, illuminating the void. As expected, every detail became crystal clear, down to the very patterns on the Hanging Stone Star Ores his gaze swept over.
Aided by Cosmic Vista, Xuzhuang probed the distant direction from which the shockwave had come. Sure enough, he saw a brilliant radiance flickering. Following it with his gaze, a desolate star entered his vision. But before he could get a closer look—
Suddenly, a terrifying beam of light erupted from the star’s surface, instantly shattering Cosmic Vista’s prying gaze and searing Xuzhuang’s eyes with a flash of pain!
Xuzhuang let out a muffled grunt. Fortunately, the buffer provided by Cosmic Vista had prevented his Dharma Eyes from being destroyed. Even so, he was still lightly injured.
However, Xuzhuang had no time to worry about his injury. He briefly covered his eyes before opening them again and looking straight up. Just as he expected, a point of extremely bright light was now flickering ceaselessly in the void!
"That star..." Xuzhuang’s pupils trembled slightly as he held his breath.
Lieyun followed Xuzhuang’s gaze to see a point of light shining, lingering without fading. He scratched his head in confusion. When he turned back, he saw a trail of blood trickling from beneath Xuzhuang’s eyes and cried out in alarm, "Master! Are you injured?"
Xuzhuang didn’t respond. He suddenly reached out, grabbed several purification vases, and poured their contents onto the floor. The Spiritual Truth and Spiritual Essence, condensed from Cosmic Primordial Qi, flowed back into the Du Xu Palace. He then immediately activated the palace at full power, beginning the journey back toward the Profound Yellow Realm.
