Chapter 301: Chapter 164: One Table, Eight Talents, and Master Yu Bo
Xuzhuang was slightly surprised to see this person.
The man who had just ascended to the top floor was none other than Pang Ban, the master of Bianlan Pavilion, with whom Xuzhuang had just done business that very day.
Pang Ban glanced around the room. He, too, seemed a little surprised to see Xuzhuang there. He gave a slight nod in greeting, then found an empty table and sat down alone.
Seeing Pang Ban greet Xuzhuang, Cen Fenghong asked in surprise, "You know this man, Fellow Daoist?"
"We just met today, so I wouldn’t say we’re acquainted," Xuzhuang replied. "It seems you know him, Fellow Daoist?"
"Ah, so that’s how it is." Cen Fenghong nodded and said, "I’ve been in Weiyun Immortal City for a while, so I know a little. I heard he ascended from the Celestial Stars and was recognized and recruited by many factions, but he refused them all. He insists on making his own way and has built quite a name for himself in Weiyun Immortal City."
Although Xuzhuang had sensed that this man was extraordinary, he hadn’t expected him to have such a legendary background.
The two didn’t bother to hide their conversation with a voice transmission. Hearing them discuss him, Pang Ban’s expression didn’t change as he simply closed his eyes to rest.
Meanwhile, two men at another table exchanged glances for a moment, then suddenly stood up and walked directly toward Xuzhuang’s party of three. The leader showed a smile and clasped his hands. "Pardon the intrusion, Fellow Daoists."
His gaze fell upon Xuzhuang as he asked, "My junior brother and I happened to overhear your conversation. Might you be Fellow Daoist Xuzhuang?"
Xuzhuang raised an eyebrow. ’I have some renown in the Profound Yellow Realm, but surely not enough for it to spread to other realms? Why is it that both Cen Fenghong and these two seem to have genuinely heard of me?’
’Could it be that there’s some other famous genius who shares my name?’
After a moment’s thought, Xuzhuang clasped his hands and replied, "I am. And you two are?"
"It truly is you, Fellow Daoist. I’ve long heard of your great name." The leader smiled slightly and replied, "I am Changhua, and this is my junior brother, Changxin. We are disciples of Master Qu Zhao of Dinghu Mountain."
"So you are the esteemed disciples of a Dinghu Mountain Zhenren," Xuzhuang said. "Please, have a seat, Fellow Daoists."
Xuzhuang was not entirely ignorant of the Guangyuan Realm. Dinghu Mountain was one of the two Taoist Sects under True Monarch Guangcheng, the other being Mi Zhen Dao. These two Taoist Sects were the two great Xuanmen of the Guangyuan Realm.
As for the Guangcheng Dojo, it did not recruit disciples. It was simply the place where True Monarch Guangcheng cultivated and delivered his lectures.
The brothers Changhua and Changxin did not stand on ceremony and sat down together. Changhua, clearly a socially adept person, took the initiative to greet Cen Fenghong. "You look very familiar, Fellow Daoist. I believe this isn’t our first meeting?"
Cen Fenghong smiled. "I have been traveling through the Guangyuan Realm for some years now. I was once fortunate enough to be invited by you, Fellow Daoist, to attend a lecture at the Guangcheng Dojo. Perhaps we met then."
"Ah, I see." Changhua said with an air of sudden realization. He then added, "The True Monarch has been in high spirits recently and will be giving another lecture soon. If you don’t mind, I can invite all of you to attend together."
When True Monarch Guangcheng gave a lecture, it wasn’t only for the disciples of his lineage. On the contrary, anyone with the right affinity could attend. When he was in the mood, he would often give pointers to the younger generation. Thus, over countless years, many experts had received his guidance, which was one of the reasons for True Monarch Guangcheng’s high prestige and respected status.
Perhaps influenced by this, the disciples of True Monarch Guangcheng’s lineage were also mostly well-connected individuals who never hesitated to invite fellow Daoists to the Guangcheng Dojo for lectures. Upon hearing the invitation, Cen Fenghong readily agreed. "I benefited greatly from the last lecture. Now that I have another chance, there is no reason to refuse."
He then turned to Zhong Shenxiu and Xuzhuang and asked, "Brother Zhong, Fellow Daoist Xu, are you interested?"
Zhong Shenxiu didn’t think for long before accepting. Xuzhuang had nothing urgent to attend to, so he had no reason to decline either.
Changhua was delighted that all three had accepted. At that moment, Changxin turned to Zhong Shenxiu and asked, "I haven’t had the chance to ask, what is this Fellow Daoist’s name?"
Zhong Shenxiu smiled faintly and replied, "I am Zhong Shenxiu. I cultivate in the Profound Yellow Realm."
"What?" As soon as he said this, both Changhua and Changxin exclaimed in unison, "So it’s you, Fellow Daoist!"
Changxin immediately said, "To think that on this trip to Lai Xian Hall, we’ve had the good fortune to meet two... three such esteemed Fellow Daoists! This trip has truly been worthwhile."
Compared to Changhua, Changxin was clearly more direct and nearly misspoke. Fortunately, Cen Fenghong didn’t seem to mind and merely smiled faintly.
Seeing their reaction, Zhong Shenxiu was a bit surprised. He asked, "You two know of me?"
Changhua, smiling cheerfully, replied, "You may not know this, Fellow Daoist, but our master is a close friend of Master Xuan Ying from your esteemed sect. They correspond often. After a trip to the Profound Yellow Realm, our master frequently used your name to spur on us disciples."
Changxin chimed in, "You’re a famous figure among the current generation of my Dinghu Mountain, Fellow Daoist."
Zhong Shenxiu couldn’t help but laugh. "Words of encouragement, surely you can’t take them seriously..."
"Master Xuan Ying... isn’t that the one whose fame rivals that of the Taixuan Profound True Monarch?" Xuzhuang, listening from the side, couldn’t help but be surprised as well.
According to rumor, all the Zhenren of the Upper Profound Sect who had refined a Primordial Spirit took ’Xuan’ as part of their title. However, the Primordial Spirit True Men of the Profound Yellow Realm were all as elusive as divine dragons, so ordinary cultivators had no way of knowing the names of these great experts.
But with the Taixuan Profound True Monarch’s return to the Profound Yellow Realm, many long-forgotten old stories were being brought up again, so it was inevitable that he would have some impression of the name.
’So Zhong Shenxiu is famous on Dinghu Mountain for that reason... but is that why I am too?’ Xuzhuang felt something wasn’t quite right and wanted to ask, but just then, Cen Fenghong inquired about the origins of the banquet at Lai Xian Hall. "Do you two know anything about Master Yu Bo? Is there any particular reason for this immortal banquet?"
"Rest assured, Fellow Daoist. Master Yu Bo is a renowned senior expert in our Guangyuan Realm, and he has always been kind to others." Changhua replied with a smile. "As for the reason for the immortal banquet, I don’t know either. I only know that the ones Master Yu Bo wishes to entertain are all true cultivation geniuses."
