Chapter 1596: Chapter 183: Thousand-Eyed Illusion Golden Spear (Part 2)

Zhang Yan remained unsurprised and smiled, saying, "The Demon Cave will soon emerge in this world, and those of the Demon Sect are extremely eager to learn my methods. The news of my battle with Zhu Bogao must have already spread early on. If they don’t come, that would be unusual."

Wei Zihong said, "Could the disciple prepare for tomorrow..."

Zhang Yan waved his hand and smiled, saying, "They must be well-prepared in coming here, so there’s no need to exert such effort. If they have the capability during tomorrow’s battle, let them watch."

On hearing this, Wei Zihong understood that his master had a way to deal with it and then took his leave.

Very soon, the night passed.

On the second day, Zhu Bogao left his tribes in Jin River and brought along a dozen followers, steering a small boat toward the shore. Upon reaching Shousui Mountain, he stopped and said, "True Master Zhang, Zhu Bogao arrives to fulfill our agreement."

Zhang Yan was seen coming up, exchanged a few words with Wei Zihong, and then, under the watchful gazes of all, rode on Gang Wind into the Heavenly Vault, bowing and saying, "Greetings to all Demon Kings."

Zhu Bogao returned the courtesy, then carefully examined Zhang Yan for a moment, suddenly sighed, and said, "Yesterday’s battle, I originally thought I could surpass True Master, but unexpectedly, I overestimated myself and invited humiliation. If I lose to True Master today, I ask that you not annihilate my tribes altogether."

Zhang Yan chuckled and said, "Why self-deprecate, True Master Zhu? To gather a million tribes in Beiming Continent is already on par with the Eight Great Tribes. How dare this poor Daoist underestimate you?"

Zhu Bogao’s eyes twinkled, then chuckled and said, "True Master Zhang, since I issued the battle challenge, the choice of the battleground should be yours."

Zhang Yan did not refuse, thought for a moment, and said, "How about fighting on the Extreme Sky?"

Zhu Bogao’s eyelids twitched and said, "Very good, very good, perfectly suits my intention. Please, True Master Zhang lead the way."

Zhang Yan smiled, gently shrugged, and then transformed into a breeze, flying upwards.

Zhu Bogao surged with Gang Wind and followed suit.

Han Wangke looked up, stopped the two beside him, Cai and Peng, who wanted to travel to Heaven, and said, "The Extreme Sky is unlike any other place. If we go up, it’ll be considered bullying by numbers, so let’s refrain from spectating and wait here."

Meanwhile, two members of the Demon Sect at a distance were stunned by this scene. The Extreme Sky is not like the ground, with surroundings all open. With Zhang Yan’s abilities, if they followed, they would instantly be detected by him, making it impossible to spy.

The strange-faced cultivator whispered, "Senior brother, what now?"

The dry and skinny Daoist hesitated and said, "There’s still a bottle of Shuyang Water, conceal our presence for an hour; it shouldn’t be an issue."

The strange-faced cultivator felt a pang of heartache and said, "This water was given by our master for life-and-death moments."

The dry and skinny Daoist thought carefully and said, "As long as we can see Zhang Yan’s methods, it would be a great merit. It shouldn’t be difficult to ask for more later, right? Moreover, we have the flying shuttle underfoot; if we keep a distance and are discovered, we can escape, so what’s there to fear?"

Both discussed and decided to take the risk, thus retreated to a hundred miles away, sprinkled Shuyang Water on the flying shuttle and themselves, making their presence faint and nearly undetectable unless one was extremely close.

Once they felt assured, they soared with the flying boat toward Heaven.

Meanwhile, Zhang Yan and Zhu Bogao had already broken through Gang Cloud, reaching the Extreme Sky.

Upon entering, Zhu Bogao suddenly swung his robe sleeve, with a swish, unleashed a blast of Gang Wind. Zhang Yan saw it but remained unchanged in expression, also gently shook his robe sleeve, each borrowing momentum to retreat a hundred feet, standing facing each other from afar.

Zhu Bogao’s face became solemn, raised his hand, from behind erupted a plume of black smoke, dispersing to reveal hundreds of Yueyu Gold-Plated Spears suspended in the sky, all without handles, only Beil Blades, radiating dazzling golden light under the fierce sun.

Zhang Yan glanced immediately, noticing the technique, slightly surprised, said, "Didn’t expect fellow Daoist Zhu is also skilled in arrays?"

Zhu Bogao’s gaze turned to Zhang Yan and said, "Just barely proficient, cannot say skilled. Against True Master Zhang, dare not be careless, hope you don’t say I’m playing tricks."

Zhang Yan slightly smiled and said, "Between you and me, it’s considered a fight to the death; any skill can be employed."

This array of Zhu Bogao wasn’t intended to trap Zhang Yan. He knew very well that with his own skill in maneuvering arrays, it was essentially useless against someone adept in Escape Skills, thus merely served as a cover.

He pondered that if defeated, he would move swiftly into the array, thus buying a moment of respite to recover his Qi Power before re-engaging.

Even if worse comes to worse, it can still maintain a stalemate; as long as he stands unbeaten, he can gradually find weaknesses in the opponent’s defenses.

He stood motionless before the array, pulling out a large bow from his sleeve, spread his legs, heaving a deep sound, sunk his body, drew the string to a full moon, aiming at Zhang Yan, released the string in a breath’s time, producing a whoosh, a streak of golden light shot straight ahead like a rainbow.

Midway, the arrow light suddenly split, becoming two, further down the path, four, and by the final section, it had transformed into eight arrow lights.

Power Dao Practitioners exhibit their skills only in close-quarters combat, as they have shortcomings in Escape Skills, thus most seek a treasure bow so that when engaging, it forces the opponent into melee.

This bow is named "Thousand-Eyed Illusion Bow," the arrows formed by the bow’s Spiritual Energy; though not particularly powerful, they track the enemy’s trace and create illusions, making reality indistinguishable.

Zhang Yan observed the arrow lights approaching, smiled calmly, didn’t deploy any Dharma Treasures, merely swept his robe sleeve, and a robust Gang Wind blew them aside.

Not giving the opponent a chance to draw the bow again, he lightly stomped, suddenly, dense mist emerged around him, and in mere moments, his figure vanished into the vast fog.
