Chapter 1608: Chapter 189: Stirring Grass to Startle the Snake, Forcing the Demon Out (Part 2)

Zhang Yan let out a cold laugh; since they refuse to move, we will devise a plan to force them out.

Before subduing the Yu Yuan Tribe, he had already made such a plan, and now he could set it in motion.

He said in a deep voice, "Jing You, the Flying Books I drafted earlier can now all be sent out."

Jing You’s spirit was lifted, and he replied, "I will take care of it right away."

Not long after, within the Zhao You Heavenly Pond, dozens of Flying Books transformed into Spirit Light and flew out, heading to the various sects surrounding the Mingcang Sect.

An hour later, inside Bi Yu Xuan, the Sect Leader Yan Yuqing solemnly gazed at the letter in her hand, remaining silent for a long time.

Yan Xiaoyang was anxiously pacing back and forth, glanced at his mother’s expression, and couldn’t help but ask, "Mother, what exactly is written in the letter?"

Yan Yuqing put down the letter and sighed, "True Master Zhang has issued a Dharma Decree, ordering us to send disciples to investigate the Earth Vein’s Spirit Mechanism in the East Splendor Continent and to set up a Dharma Platform Forbidden Array at the congested Spirit Mechanism locations to preemptively discover the Demon Caves."

"What?"

Upon hearing this, Yan Xiaoyang immediately jumped up, his emotions intense as he said, "What did I say? What did I say? Even if my sister forms a Daoist couple with that Kid Han, Mingcang Sect won’t consider us as their own. Isn’t this evident by their arrangement to set up a Dharma Platform? How could the Six Great Demon Sects sit idly by? Clearly, they want us to confront them to the death."

Yan Yuqing, displeased, rebuked, "My son, stop speaking nonsense. Things are not as simple as you think."

Yan Xiaoyang retorted angrily, "Could it be that I’m wrong?"

Yan Yuqing rubbed her forehead, seemingly at a loss with her son. She put away the letter and patiently explained, "Our Bi Yu Xuan has survived the Demon Tribulation till now thanks entirely to the protection of the Mingcang Sect. Now that they have a use for us, if we utterly refuse, it would not only sour relations with Mingcang but also not make sense logically; furthermore, True Master Zhang has a far-reaching plan with other arrangements in place. If we act cautiously, even if there is loss, it likely won’t be too great."

Yan Xiaoyang replied with a cold smile, "There are innumerable disciples in the Mingcang Sect, why not send some of them instead? After all, they just want to use the lives of our Bi Yu Xuan disciples to exchange for the lives of their Mingcang disciples."

Yan Yuqing’s expression changed slightly, and she sternly warned, "You must never speak these words outside. Do you understand?"

Yan Xiaoyang seemed to realize he had misspoken, snorted once, and said no more.

Yan Yuqing pondered for a moment, activated her mana, and condensed a talisman, which she then placed into a Flying Book, preparing to send it out. However, seeing Spirit Light circling outside the Cave Mansion, she was taken aback and waved it into her hand. Upon opening it, she found it was sent by Linqing Temple’s temple master Song Hong. She took out the letter and after reading it for some time, she thought to herself, "Many fellow Daoists have received letters, so there is no need to send mine anywhere else."

She instructed the maid beside her, "Go and invite Miss Qiu."

The maid obeyed and left.

Soon after, a beautiful woman with a slender waist and lively eyes entered the Cave Mansion, greeted Yan Yuqing with a deep bow, and said, "Qiu Hanyue greets Master Yan."

Yan Yuqing quickly returned the courtesy, saying, "How can I deserve such a formal salute from Daoist Qiu?"

She knew well that this Miss Qiu was Fan Changqing’s eldest disciple, which made her a grand-disciple of True Master Meng, and their lineage had always been close with Zhao You Heavenly Pond. Hence, she consistently treated her with utmost courtesy, never daring to be negligent.

Qiu Hanyue blinked her beautiful eyes and smiled gently, "I have already read the details in Master Zhang’s letter, and since Master Yan has invited me here, it must be in regards to this matter, right?"

Seeing that she had brought it up, Yan Yuqing nodded in confirmation, "Indeed, my Bi Yu Xuan has benefited from the protection of your sect for two hundred years. Now that we’re being called upon to contribute, we must do our part. I just wonder how long it will take for the matter described in True Master Zhang’s letter to be properly arranged?"

Qiu Hanyue chuckled softly and said, "Hearing is believing, but seeing is the real deal. Whether it’s done or not, shouldn’t we find out?"

Yan Yuqing asked in surprise, "Could it be that True Master Zhang has already made arrangements?"

Qiu Hanyue laughed, "Just outside the Mountain Gate is the Qu River, a tributary of the Long River, connected to the East Sea. Would Master Yan care to walk outside and have a look?"

Yan Yuqing pondered for a moment, then nodded, "Alright."

Qiu Hanyue chuckled softly, "That Qu River outside the Mountain Gate is a tributary of the Long River, linked with the East Sea."

The two set off outside the Mountain Gate and walked for over ten miles before descending at a rapidly flowing river.

Following instructions from the letter, Qiu Hanyue performed a spell on the riverbank while Yan Yuqing closely observed.

Not long after, the water began to bubble and churn, and a blue carp surfaced, wagging its head and tail before the two. Upon closer inspection, one could see that its fins resembled a pair of thin flying wings and that its eyes were quite spirited, clearly identifying it as a Fish Demon.

With a curious gaze, Yan Yuqing stepped forward, performed a spell, condensed a talisman, and tossed it downward.

The blue carp leapt up and caught the talisman, then disappeared into the water.

It was hardly a moment later when a swift wave approached on the water’s surface, followed by a thunderous sound as a fully armored, burly and tall Demon General emerged from the water and cupped his hands towards them, speaking in a rough voice, "This little demon is He Zhuo; what instructions do the two envoys have for calling upon this little demon?"

Qiu Hanyue responded indifferently, "We summoned you here only to see if you were neglecting your duties."

He Zhuo felt a moment of panic, lowered his body, and said, "True Master Zhang ordered us to guard here; this little demon absolutely wouldn’t dare to shirk the duty."

Qiu Hanyue snorted lightly and waved her hand, saying, "Consider this a pass for today, you may leave."

He Zhuo bowed deeply and retreated.

Turning back to face Yan Yuqing, Qiu Hanyue said, "Master Yan, Junior Master Zhang did say that within a year, any place with river water in the Northern land will have a Demon General stationed to protect our Xuanmen Disciples. With this arrangement, can your sect now rest assured in establishing the Dharma Platform?"

Yan Yuqing sighed deeply, saying, "True Master Zhang is indeed extraordinary, able to command the Beiming Demon Department for his use. Though our Bi Yu Xuan can ride birds and tame beasts, compared to the skills of True Master, we must admit our inferiority. With this, the disciples of our sect can move freely outside without fearing the Demon Sect Practitioners anymore."
