#Day 21 — 06:33

The morning started like most mornings now.

Warm skin. Soft light filtering through the slanted windows. The familiar scent of bodies that had spent the night tangled together—clean sweat, shared warmth, the faint trace of Aida's lingering jasmine oil.

But something was different.

The smell was muskier. Heavier. And the sound—

Zhao's eyes opened.

Vivienne was on top of Aida, their bodies moving in slow, deliberate rhythm. The same rhythm he knew well. The rhythm of penetration. But Zhao was right here, not inside anyone, so—

He sat up, and understanding dawned.

Between them, disappearing into both their bodies, was something white and curved. A double dildo. Vivienne's hips rolled in slow circles while Aida's legs wrapped around her, pulling her deeper.

Zhao knew what it was. He'd seen Aida use one in countless scenes over the years. It had been a favorite—something about the way two women moved together, perfectly synchronized, their pleasure mirroring each other. He'd watched those scenes alone in his room more times than he cared to admit.

Now it was playing out in real time, three feet from his face.

The two women noticed him watching. Their movements didn't stop—if anything, they grew more deliberate, more for him.

Vivienne smiled, breathless. "Mei-Lin's gift," she managed. "For the mornings."

A morning ritual, Zhao thought. Is that what this is now?

Aida's laugh turned into a moan as Vivienne's rhythm shifted.

Zhao watched, transfixed. His favorite scene, brought to life by the two women he loved most. He shifted closer, drawn by something deeper than conscious choice. His face hovered near where their bodies joined, where the white dildo disappeared into first one, then the other, slick with their combined arousal.

He breathed in. The smell was thick—earthy, intimate, unmistakably them. He'd never been this close to it before, never experienced it from this angle. It should have been overwhelming. Instead, he wanted more.

Is every morning going to look like this now? he wondered.

Ever since Vivienne moved in, her energy had changed the household. She woke hungry—for touch, for connection, for this. It was always morning with Vivienne.

A thought surfaced: where was Mei-Lin?

Aida caught his glance around the room. "She's probably looking for more things to rescue," she said, voice husky. Then, with that particular smile she had—the one that said she was already three steps ahead: "Do you want to join us?"

Zhao stopped.

In situations like this, he always wondered the same thing: How? How did you insert yourself into something already perfect? He'd fantasized about it countless times, but fantasy never included the logistics.

Aida, as always, noticed.

Maybe it was her years in the industry—the way she could read a room, read a partner, know exactly what was needed before anyone said a word. She shifted, repositioning herself on top of Vivienne, presenting herself to him. Her ass, curved and inviting. A silent offer.

That was new. Double penetration with a dildo and him? He wasn't sure it would work.

But he tried.

He positioned himself behind her, guided himself to her other entrance—the one they'd prepared so carefully on that first night, when everything changed. She was tight. So much tighter than the other way. He could feel the dildo moving beneath his cock, separated by only a thin wall of flesh, moving in its own rhythm inside her other opening.

It took him a moment to find the rhythm. To match the two women's pace. To become part of their dance instead of an observer.

Then he found it.

The three of them moved together—Vivienne thrusting into Aida with the dildo, Zhao thrusting into Aida from behind, Aida caught between them, taking them both. The sensation was unlike anything he'd felt before. He could feel Vivienne's movements through Aida's body, could feel the dildo pressing against him from inside her.

The rhythm built. Faster. Harder. Closer.

Vivienne came first—a sharp cry, her body tensing, her rhythm faltering. Then Aida, her internal muscles clenching around both of them at once, squeezing Zhao's cock in her ass while the dildo worked inside her. He felt her orgasm ripple through her body, through him, through Vivienne.

That was enough. He followed, spilling into her, the intensity of it all crashing over him.

They stayed like that for a moment—joined, connected, breathing together. A human sandwich of sweat and satisfaction.

Then they kissed. All three of them, mouths finding each other however they could, still tangled together, still joined. Tasting each other. Laughing against each other's lips.

Mei-Lin's gift. Perfect.

From outside the door, a voice: "Are you done yet?"

They froze. Then all three burst out laughing—real, helpless, body-shaking laughter that made it impossible to stay connected. They separated awkwardly, still chuckling, as the door opened.

Mei-Lin stood there, holding a potted plant with small white flowers. Her smile was pure mischief.

"You can keep going if you want," she said. "I'm happy you found my gift useful. I'll wait for my turn."

Aida was still catching her breath. "A morning ritual now, I suppose. With Vivienne here, every day starts like this."

Vivienne grinned. "You're welcome."

More laughter. It felt like coming home.

Aida glanced at the dildo, now resting on the sheets. "It's well made. Rare that I enjoy a double dildo, and I've tried hundreds."

"Your professional opinion noted," Vivienne said dryly.

Mei-Lin presented the plant to Aida.

"Jasmine," she said simply. "A species that grows well indoors. I thought you might like it."

Aida's eyes lit up. She lifted the small white flower to her nose, inhaled deeply, and for a moment her whole face transformed. Her jasmine oil had run out weeks ago. She'd said nothing—it was a small thing, unimportant next to survival. But Mei-Lin had noticed.

"Thank you," Aida whispered. She leaned in and kissed Mei-Lin—long, slow, grateful. When she pulled back, the shadows of last night's ordeal seemed momentarily forgotten.

Zhao smiled, then raised an eyebrow. "And my gift?"

Mei-Lin handed the jasmine to Aida, then turned to him. Slowly. Deliberately. She walked toward him with the kind of grace that made everything else fall away.

When she was close enough to touch, she lifted her skirt.

She wasn't wearing anything underneath.

Between her legs, the silver ring he'd first noticed weeks ago—the one Jia had given her—was different. Now three tiny stones dangled from it, catching the morning light. A white one that sparkled like diamond. A red one, deep and warm. A yellow one, bright as sunlight.

They all understood.

White for Vivienne. Red for Aida. Yellow for Zhao.

Zhao couldn't speak.

Aida stepped closer, her voice hushed. "Mei-Lin... that's permanent."

"I know." Mei-Lin's smile was gentle, certain. "Jia gave me this ring. It was her promise to me. When she died, I thought about removing it. But I couldn't. It was part of me."

She touched the new stones.

"These are my promise to you. To all of you." She looked at each of them in turn—Zhao, Aida, Vivienne. "I don't have words like Zhao. I don't have years of experience like Aida. I don't have a captain's authority like Vivienne. But I have this."

Her hand rested on the ring.

"This is my vow. I bind myself to you. To all of you. Forever."

The room was absolutely still.

No one had done this. No one had made a permanent, physical vow. Zhao had spoken words on a deck. Aida had given conditional acceptance. Vivienne had shown up, day after day, but never said it.

Mei-Lin had done it. She was the first to propose—to all of them at once.

And she'd included Jia. The woman she'd lost. The love that had shaped her. Not replaced—included. The ring still held Jia's memory; now it held theirs too.

Vivienne's eyes were wet. Aida's composure cracked—that same crack from Chen's cabin, widening. Zhao felt something swell in his chest that he couldn't name.

Slowly, he moved closer. His face found the warmth between her thighs. He breathed in—her scent, familiar and grounding, the smell of home. Then his lips found the ring, kissing it gently. Accepting. Vowing back in the only way he could.

He took it into his mouth for a moment, feeling the stones against his tongue, feeling her shiver above him. The cool metal. The warm skin. The promise of forever, made tangible.

Then Aida pressed close, her lips finding the same spot. Kissing the ring. Kissing Mei-Lin. Accepting.

Then Vivienne. Her mouth joined theirs, her tongue touching the stones, touching Mei-Lin, mingling with both of them.

Three of them worshiping the symbol of their union. Three of them accepting Mei-Lin's vow.

Fingers found their way inside her—one, then two, then three—moving in rhythm with their mouths.

Mei-Lin came with a cry that seemed to fill the whole room. Her release sprayed onto the jasmine plant below, watering it with her pleasure.

They collapsed together, laughing, kissing whoever was closest. But beneath the laughter, something profound had shifted.

Mei-Lin had given them her vow. Permanent. Undeniable.

And they had accepted.

Mei-Lin stood suddenly, gesturing toward the door.

They followed, still naked, still glowing.

In the corridor stood a medium-sized shrub, nearly as tall as Zhao's chest. Its dark green leaves were healthy, vibrant, alive. Mei-Lin's eyes shone with pride. Aida looked curious. Vivienne was clearly trying to figure out what she was seeing.

Zhao stared.

He knew this plant. He'd seen it countless times as a child, visiting his grandmother's small plantation outside Hangzhou. She'd tended them carefully, taught him how to pick the youngest leaves, shown him the precise way to dry them for tea.

"A tea tree," he whispered.

He couldn't believe it. Here, on this ship, halfway around the world from where it belonged—a living piece of his heritage.

European traders had gone on a colonization rampage for this tree centuries ago, he thought. They'd circled the globe seeking the shortest route to it. Wars had been fought. Empires had risen and fallen. All for this plant.

And now it was here. On their ship. Alive.

"Where did you find it?" Aida asked, her voice hushed.

"Among Stavros's supplies," Mei-Lin said. "Someone on his crew must have taken it. It was in a container with other plants—I almost missed it."

The four of them moved together, lifting the pot carefully, carrying it to the spot under the slanted window where the morning sun hit full. They placed it in the center of the room, where it would be visible from the bed, from the kitchenette, from everywhere.

They would never run out of tea now. Their morning ritual would continue.

One more memory preserved, Zhao thought. One more piece of who we are, saved from the fire.

The family bond could continue. Would continue. No matter what came.

He looked at the three women around him—Aida, still holding the jasmine, her eyes soft. Vivienne, her arm around Aida's waist, content. Mei-Lin, glowing with quiet pride, her ring catching the light.

They had given each other gifts this morning. But Mei-Lin had given the most: not objects, but recognition. She'd seen them. All of them. And she'd given them back pieces of themselves they hadn't known were missing.

Her ring marked her as theirs. Permanently. Undeniable.

None of the rest of us have anything like that, Zhao realized. Words on a deck. Conditional acceptance. Silent presence.

They would need to give something back. All of them. Something worthy of Mei-Lin Zhou.

But that could wait.

For now, the sun was rising. The tea tree stood in the corner. The jasmine perfumed the air. And four people who loved each other stood together, naked and unashamed, in the center of their world.

This is what we're fighting for, Zhao thought.

He hoped they'd get to keep it.
