Days as a Spiritual Mentor in American Comics

Chapter 6129 - 5142: A Journey of Wonder (17)

Let’s just say, this long series of prison disasters has exhausted the players. There’s a limit to how much shit a person can take in a given time, even the most talented shit-eaters; anyone would feel nauseated after tasting multiple "niche masterpieces" in quick succession. That’s how these players feel right now.

After enduring the tortures of the estate labyrinth, followed by endlessly scrolling through dialogues and animations, then experiencing the shocking twists of the hidden genius awards, they’ve tasted all the flavors of shit available on the market. As a result, when the plot advances to this point, no one is interested in savoring it further, not even if it conceals a nuclear bomb that could destroy Earth. All they care about is getting out of prison.

After killing the shop owner, the two of them rummaged through the counter and found quite a bit of money. They also got the car keys from the owner, exchanged for a more powerful pickup, filled the tank, and even grabbed more fuel from the gas station, heading north all the way.

Visa checkpoints between America and Canada are virtually non-existent, especially from America to Canada; basically, anyone can cross, even a bear could if it could drive, without anyone bothering to check.

These two people entered Canada so smoothly. But whether it’s because of a guilty conscience or anxiety over the enormity of their crime, worrying about possible international pursuits, they dared not enter any cities, continuing north until they reached the mountains.

Due to geographical and climate issues, Canada is not completely traversable. Many provincial and even national roads aren’t open during winter. This does not mean someone physically blocks the roads, but attempting to drive through would likely result in death; usually, nearby towns would provide warnings, or there might be road signs around.

But these two were in a panic, neither settling in a small town nor checking road signs, and drove onto a non-open road. Sure enough, snow began falling at night, with no streetlights nearby; darkness enveloped them, temperatures rapidly dropped.

The players couldn’t feel the cold; not only were they not cold, their hearts burned with joy, fervently wishing these two scumbags would freeze to death!

Unfortunately, since they looted the gas station, the car’s energy was abundant, with heating available, certainly preventing them from freezing. Plus, the pickup was high-end with some off-road capability, and they just kept driving onwards.

Nature provides an enduring lesson to every illiterate. Had they turned back at the start of the snowfall, chances of survival were high, but instead they drove further in, resulting in snow accumulation that made the car immobile, and they could only stop.

Once stopped, it’s likely impossible to start again as snow keeps falling, potentially blocking the road, and even abundant gasoline can’t sustain such consumption. Not to mention there’s no lighting around; with darkness and cold, the two were nearing collapse.

But sadly, by morning, providence had turned a blind eye. Unknown to them, a hunter, possibly a local from a nearby town, followed an injured deer into the vicinity of their car.

The four players’ orbs gleamed over his head like an angel’s halo, each shouting in his ear: "Go on!! Don’t save them! Just go!!!"

But unfortunately, this hunter might have thought their car indicated they were tourists, wanting to lend a hand, so he knocked on the window, waking them up, and escorted them to the nearby hunter’s cabin beyond the hill.

The players could predict what would happen next. This time, aware playing the victim wasn’t effective on these locals, Nina simply resorted to seduction. Her appearance closely resembled a woman, considered pretty post-makeup, and the hunter couldn’t resist the Temptation, ending up killed by the pair.

The players weren’t surprised, but they weren’t entirely resigned either. When the two tried to light the fireplace, the players took turns blowing on the flames. The two weren’t quite professional, unaware of starting with kindling, attempting to ignite the logs directly. The flames, small initially, couldn’t handle harsh winds, rendering them unable to start a fire.

Without fire, staying in the mountains was impossible, yet with snow continuing, they couldn’t leave either. So they decided to go back to the car for gasoline, pouring it on the wood might aid ignition.

They arrived led by the hunter, but unable to follow the route, plus the dark surroundings made discerning directions impossible, soon getting thoroughly lost in the woods.

The players celebrated, wishing they could craft makeshift coffins and carry them away amidst a drumroll. However, as the saying goes, good people don’t live long, but scourges last forever. Wandering cluelessly, walking slowly, after considerable time, they hadn’t ventured far, merely ended back at the cabin.

This time Andrew learned, collecting twigs outside, igniting them before tossing them into the fireplace, successfully keeping them alive.

The next morning, snow gradually stopped, the car became operational again, and the pair resumed their journey. They eventually arrived at a sparsely inhabited, secluded town in northeastern Canada, where no one recognized them, affording them a temporary rest.

For these two villains, this could be considered a happy ending. Having murdered so many people, they could settle in this deserted town, with American police unlikely to chase them here. Here, they might hide for a while, before possibly moving to Europe or Southeast Asia, starting over.

But, it’s still the same thing, for those who have already entered the meat grinder, it’s really hard to climb out relying on their own Strength. Even if they have already integrated into this huge machine and become one of its parts, they will still be shattered when their short lifespan is exhausted.

Not surprisingly, Andrew’s drug addiction flared up. People like him aren’t the kind who smoke marijuana; Andrew had long evolved to injecting. At this point, there’s basically not much time left to live. Moreover, when it flares up, it becomes particularly painful, as if being roasted in the flames of Hell, while completely losing sanity, turning into a true Beast.

Although drugs are rampant in Canada, this small town they came to is too remote. It’s one of those closed and backward villages where there aren’t so many chemical drugs. Even if there are, they are not familiar with the place so there’s no way they could obtain them, no one would sell to them.

Andrew rolled on the ground in pain, Nina tried to help him up, but ended up being pulled down to the ground by Andrew. Nina let out a scream, but this seemed to stimulate Andrew, he suddenly turned over and pressed onto Nina, choking her.

Nina instinctively wanted to resist, but Andrew’s tendency towards violence was stronger, seemingly to relieve his own pain, he kept beating Nina. Nina struggled to escape, initially just wanting to run away, but Andrew seemed angered by her actions. As Nina ran towards the door, he pulled out a gun.

Bang!

This gunshot to the players was no less than a celebratory cannon, signifying they were finally about to be freed, this goddamn game was finally coming to an end, there better not be another segment!

Just then, they entered another memory. This time it was the blissful time when the two were in love, walking together on a road filled with fallen leaves, humming their favorite songs together. It was supposed to be a very warm scene, but the players were not moved at all.

If you say they went from this sweet romantic state to suddenly one side fell ill or accidentally killed the other due to other mental issues, that could still be considered a tragedy. The problem is, in between this, they killed so many innocent people, to put it simply, even Deathstroke would have to show some conscience, when he executes tasks he wouldn’t indiscriminately kill innocents, they are even more badass than the world’s greatest mercenary.

Then strangely, the story entered the ending animation, Nina fell to the ground struggling painfully, judging from her movements the bullet should have hit her lung, followed by an overhead view, the two lying on the ground one after another, then a close-up shot focused on Andrew’s painfully twisted expression, a single tear slowly slid down the corner of his eye.

This ending really disgusts the players, they are still trying to force the narrative of pure love, as if this were a love movie, even if they are mentally ill, drug-addicted gamblers and Killer devils, they must express love, to show the true heart of rotten people, as if this could purify the entire world.

It’s safe to say that after players have endured so much torture, when their Physical Strength and energy are about to be exhausted, they receive such a mental blow, it truly inflicts real damage. Just these four without such high moral standards, find it difficult to watch, it’s hard to imagine what kind of feeling those Superheroes with moral standards would have after watching, Miyazaki must have paid for this lesson during childhood.

And at the moment when Andrew’s tear fell, Greed found a blue crystal tear in his hand. At this point, he already had three collected items in his hand, namely a tooth, a piece of face skin, and a crystal shaped like a tear. But so far the hidden storyline still has no clues at all, could it be this is just playing with people?

Greed knew it wouldn’t be that simple, because he understood, this entire game is not about some rotten people playing naturally, but rather normal people intentionally making it rotten, just to torment Batman-like compulsive disorder and Superheroes, these items couldn’t possibly be meaningless collectibles, they must have some use.

While thinking this, a Whirlpool appeared before them again, sucking them in. Only this time there was no new game scene, they appeared in a vast darkness, with only one spot of light.

They kept walking towards it, a huge stone monument appeared in their vision. This monument had many rings, each ring connected to three small circles, which were empty inside, seemingly could be filled with something.

Greed counted, there were at least more than 100 rings, and the small circles added up to about 300, and at this moment the small circle on the bottom-most ring was faintly shimmering with light.

Greed looked down at the three items in his hand and realized, this monument might be the ending catalog, the three items in his hand are the three endings of the three stories they played. The scary thing is, just this shitty story has over 100 different endings.

But when you think about it, in these three games they didn’t actually do anything else, neither using genius creativity nor solving mysteries, they just followed the flow, ultimately achieving the worst ending.

Greed thought about it, if playing seriously there were indeed many places to operate, like the estate map should have many unexplored areas, possibly with some scattered storylines. The Survivor Organization on the zombie map could be saved. The last story even more so, there should be different rescue endings, only they didn’t play them.

But the game is made like this, there’s truly no patience to play, Greed directly handed over the three items in his hand. Placing the tooth, the bottom circle lit up with white light. Placing the face skin, the left circle lit up with yellow light. Placing the tear, the right circle lit up with blue light.

The three colored light points detached from the monument, floating behind the players, gradually merging into something. When they turned around, what they saw was a giant glowing... emoji?!
