Death… And Me
Chapter 4618: Not Staying For Long
After informing the guild of their departure, Roan left the Besgol Region alongside Rean, Lunelle, and Luxa. Celis remained behind, while Kentucky took the opportunity to visit Kachia again.
However, the group wasn’t traveling alone. Tobao had also decided to join them, and he hadn’t taken no for an answer. As one of the cultivators with full access to the Godly Pressure Adaptation Project, he had already reached approximately 40% immunity to Godly Pressure over the past few years.
Of course, the initial adaptation was always the fastest part of the process. The closer a cultivator came to complete immunity, the more difficult it became to make further progress.
Rean and Roan didn’t mind Tobao’s presence. He already knew about Luxa and Lunelle; in fact, pretty much everyone did, so there was no point in hiding their existence from him or anyone else. Besides, they had no intention of using any of their system abilities or entering the Great Void during this trip.
Naturally, they didn’t travel too far from Besgol. Roan had only decided to leave the Region because Luxa’s previous breakthrough had been so destructive. He didn’t want another similar incident to attract unnecessary attention within Besgol itself, especially when they could easily find a suitable location nearby.
"So... will it really be as ridiculous as you said it was when Luxa broke through?" Tobao asked, unable to contain his curiosity. He had read the reports submitted by Arcis, who had witnessed Luxa’s breakthrough firsthand, and the descriptions had been quite impressive.
"How would we know?" Rean replied with a shrug. "They don’t cultivate the same way we do, remember? Perhaps Lunelle’s breakthrough will be so boring that we won’t feel a thing."
Lunelle turned her attention toward Rean. ’Boring is good. I want strength, no showoff.’
Roan nodded slightly in approval. "Well said."
He then stopped and carefully scanned the surroundings with his Godly Sense while also checking the radar aboard Rean’s airplane. "There doesn’t seem to be anything dangerous nearby. Lunelle, let’s go out."
’Yes, Roan.’
Lunelle immediately flew out of the airplane, and the others followed shortly afterward. Once they were outside, Roan guided them a few kilometers away from Lunelle, giving her plenty of room to undergo her breakthrough without accidentally involving them in whatever might happen.
They had chosen a massive lake stretching for several hundred kilometers. Water Element and Yin Energy were abundant in the area, making it an ideal location for Lunelle to advance. The vast expanse of water would also provide her with plenty of energy to draw upon, while the surrounding area offered enough space for the phenomenon to unfold without causing trouble.
Rean, Tobao, and Luxa stopped beside Roan, their attention divided between Lunelle and the surrounding environment. Even though they hadn’t detected anything dangerous, they weren’t about to let their guard down.
Meanwhile, Lunelle opened the Spatial Storage attached to her anklet and took out a Godly Predator Crystal. Until now, she had only consumed Godly Beast Crystals throughout her cultivation. She had heard what had happened to Luxa after the latter consumed Godly Crystals that were far beyond her current level, and Lunelle had no intention of making the same mistake. There was no reason to take unnecessary risks when she could advance at her own pace.
Lunelle began pecking at the crystal, breaking it apart and swallowing the fragments. As the energy entered her body, it immediately flowed toward her bloodline and eyes. Her navy-blue and golden eyes suddenly lit up, radiating an intense glow that reflected across the surface of the lake. At the same time, the Water Element in the surroundings began to surge, gathering around her as though an invisible tide had suddenly swept across the region.
*Zuah!*
Every feather on Lunelle’s body stood on end. They resembled countless tiny antennas, drawing in the Water Element and Yin Energy from the surroundings and channeling both into her body. The energy gathered at an astonishing rate, eventually condensing into a gigantic sphere of navy-blue and golden water around her. Its size was comparable to the Sphere of Fire Luxa had created during her own breakthrough.
Rean watched the enormous sphere take shape and couldn’t help commenting, "From the looks of it, her breakthrough will be just as eye-catching as Luxa’s was."
Roan nodded. "That’s fine. At least we know Lunelle can control when she decides to break through."
Unfortunately, the phenomenon soon grew beyond what could be considered a simple gathering of energy. The lake began to churn violently, and the entire area seemed to fall into the eye of a massive storm.
Giant waves rose from the water, their towering crests rolling toward Lunelle before being drawn into her sphere. Water from every direction surged toward the center, feeding the enormous mass of navy-blue and golden energy surrounding her.
In the end, Lunelle’s breakthrough proved every bit as spectacular as Luxa’s. Whatever Tobao had imagined after reading the reports, the reality was certainly living up to his expectations.
It didn’t take long for Roan to sense several cultivators approaching. There was nothing particularly surprising about that. They were close to Besgol’s borders, where cultivators frequently accepted missions, trained, or ventured out to gather Godly Spawn Crystals. A phenomenon of this magnitude could easily be seen from hundreds of kilometers away, so it was only natural that curious cultivators would come to investigate.
"Ah! Senior Tobao!" One of the newcomers immediately recognized the familiar figure standing beside Rean and Roan.
Tobao turned toward the approaching cultivators, his trademark gentle smile appearing on his face. A moment later, a Godly Sense message reached the group. ’Amitabha, amitabha... these little friends arrived just in time. You may watch, but make sure you don’t get too close. A friend of mine is conducting a little test on this lake, and it will take some time.’
The cultivators nodded vigorously. It was already an extraordinary opportunity for experts of their level to see Tobao in person, let alone receive a message directly from him. None of them intended to waste that opportunity by behaving recklessly. "Yes, Senior Tobao. We shall not get in the way."
Besides, the existence of Luxa and Lunelle was no longer a secret. There was little point in trying to conceal the breakthrough itself, especially when the phenomenon was so enormous that hiding it would be practically impossible. The only thing the group needed to ensure was that the newcomers stayed out of the restricted area and didn’t interfere with Lunelle’s evolution.
Naturally, the cultivators weren’t content with simply watching. They quickly activated their Ring Communicators and began broadcasting the event live. Since they were still close to Besgol, the Besgol Network Signal reached the area without any trouble, allowing their transmissions to spread throughout the Region.
Before long, the lake had become a major hotspot. More cultivators arrived as word of the extraordinary breakthrough spread, and the number of spectators continued to rise. Tobao quickly established a restricted area around Lunelle, making it clear that anyone who entered without permission would have to answer to him personally. Needless to say, not a single cultivator dared to challenge that warning.
The breakthrough continued, lasting just as long as Luxa’s had. The main difference was the number of witnesses. Through the network, millions of cultivators were now watching the event live, all wondering what exactly was happening at the lake. Even those who couldn’t understand the details of Lunelle’s bloodline could tell that they were witnessing something extraordinary.
Rean glanced at the growing audience and smiled. "She’s going to become quite famous."
*Rawr!*
’Kentucky would absolutely love to be in her position!’ Luxa added enthusiastically.
"Hahaha!" Rean laughed, immediately agreeing with her. "I can already picture the jealous look on his face when we get back."
Roan, however, wasn’t particularly interested in the growing attention. "We won’t be staying in Besgol much longer anyway, so who cares?"
Tobao naturally heard that comment. His smile faltered slightly as he turned toward Roan. "What do you mean you won’t be staying for much longer?"
Roan met his gaze. "We have a few plans to put into motion."
Rean placed his hands behind his head, casually adding some context. "To be more precise, we need better cultivation conditions. We’re already using our Godly Horror Crystals, and from the looks of it, the ones we have here will only barely be enough to get us to the Late Stage of the Zone God Realm. We mentioned this to you before, remember? Our cultivation energy pools are simply too large, so we need many times more resources than ordinary cultivators to advance."
Tobao took a deep breath, still struggling to accept the sheer scale of their resource requirements. "You ended up with twenty-one Godly Horror Crystals, and that’s only enough to reach the Late Stage?"
"Maybe not even that," Roan added bluntly. "We’ll see how far they take us."
"Fine, fine. I understand that you need a lot of resources," Tobao conceded, rubbing his forehead as he tried to digest the information. "But what about this leaving business? Where exactly are you planning to go?"
Rean remained silent. Since Roan had brought up the matter in front of Tobao, it was clearly because he wanted Tobao to hear it. Rean simply waited to see how Roan intended to explain their plans.
However, before Roan could answer, a deep rumbling sound suddenly spread across the lake.
*Dhrummmmm...*
Just as it had during Luxa’s breakthrough, the phenomenon began to change. The energy surrounding Lunelle shifted, and the enormous sphere started reacting in a way that immediately drew everyone’s attention back to her.
Roan turned toward the sphere, his expression becoming more focused. "Seems like she’s about to finish."
