Death Draw System: Infinite Revives in the Horror Dungeon
Chapter 239: Fear Chicken Totem.
Little Dove stood helplessly at the doorway, looking like someone who had reached the end of his rope and had no idea what to do next.
"OMG! Shen Yu, you shameless green-tea master!"
"He’s so casual with Lin Wan and Lin Yao, but when it comes to Little Dove, he puts on a whole performance. I’m done!"
"I can only say this is just another ordinary day in Shen Yu’s life. A beginner in the dating world meets a top-level succubus!"
The comments section erupted once again.
Meanwhile, Shen Yu calmly stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the seventh floor.
Ding!
As the elevator slowly ascended, the Chicken medal in his hand began to glow.
A system notification sounded right on cue.
Ding!
You have obtained the Fear Chicken Totem.
Fear Chicken: Causes the target to experience fear.
Your size, attributes, and physical abilities will continue to grow without limit over time.
Shen Yu raised an eyebrow.
So this was what Kill the Chicken to Warn the Monkey meant!
Ding!
The elevator arrived on the seventh floor.
The moment the doors opened, Shen Yu saw something he hadn’t expected.
Ning Xu and Zhu Changyin stood in front of the painting depicting the Tree Sea, their eyes wide as they stared at it, seemingly waiting for something.
Beside them, Long John watched the two with interest, gesturing at their figures as though he were preparing to draw them.
"What are you doing?"
Shen Yu stepped out of the elevator and asked curiously.
Zhu Changyin turned toward the elevator. His face immediately lit up.
"Deputy Leader! Deputy Leader, you’re here!"
The two hurried over to surround Shen Yu.
He glanced suspiciously at the painting of the Tree Sea, as though he had already guessed what had happened.
"Deputy Leader, we failed to obtain the Monkey medal. We’re sorry."
Ning Xu shook his head helplessly.
"Bloodshed is powerful, but unfortunately, we both took turns using the Derived Snake’s power. Before long, our mutation levels were completely depleted. There are simply too many monkeys in the Tree Sea. We killed dozens of them, but not a single leader monkey came out to negotiate with us."
Shen Yu nodded, indicating that he understood.
"It’s fine. I was thinking too simply. The monkeys have their own way of dealing with intruders. I’ll go in again."
"Then, Deputy Leader, should we go with you?"
Zhu Changyin hesitated before continuing.
"Ning Xu and I will wait outside and restore our mutation levels so we can activate the Derived Snake Totem again. As long as we don’t use the totem’s power, our mutation levels should continue accumulating while we wait."
Shen Yu looked at him with a hint of admiration.
"Not bad. When there are no other options, coming out to recover your mutation level before activating the Snake’s power again is indeed the wisest decision for now."
He then turned his attention to Long John.
"What about you? What are you doing here?"
Long John shrugged.
"Nothing in particular. I just wanted to see how long these two youngsters would keep playing around."
He glanced at Zhu Changyin.
"Changyin has a little potential. Just a little."
Then his expression grew more serious.
"Shen Yu, you came up from the floors below. You must have seen Lin Wan, right?"
His tone carried a deeper meaning.
Shen Yu’s expression tightened.
"Isn’t that obvious? With Lin Wan’s personality, anyone who sees her will know that she intends to take revenge on the Perfect Human. She’s one of the leading forces of the resistance."
He paused before continuing.
"She has good relationships with Rat, Rabbit, Dragon, and Snake. That gives us four potential allies. We still need six more."
Long John cracked his knuckles.
"Once you’ve gathered those forces, I’ll give you a clue. I believe you’ll find it interesting."
Shen Yu shook his head.
"No need. We have six now."
The Chicken medal in his hand glowed faintly.
Long John’s eyes flickered with surprise.
He didn’t ask any further questions. Instead, he stepped away from the Tree Sea painting to clear the surrounding space.
"Let’s go."
Shen Yu didn’t hesitate. He took the lead and stepped into the painting.
Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!
The familiar dizziness washed over them.
When the scene finally cleared, Shen Yu and the others were standing atop a dense canopy of trees.
Almost the instant they appeared, countless rustling sounds rose from the branches below.
The monkeys’ cries grew closer and closer.
Shen Yu turned toward the sound, only to discover a group of mountain baboons with hollow eye sockets.
Their eyeballs had been gouged out.
Now, their dark, empty sockets stared upward, creating a deeply unsettling sight.
"Holy shit! Why are they all blind?"
Ning Xu muttered in disbelief.
"When we first arrived, they were just a normal group of mountain baboons!"
As he spoke, he silently bit his finger.
Fresh blood welled from the wound, and delicate snake scales began emerging across his skin.
Bloodshed!
He was preparing to activate the Derived Snake’s power to deal with the mountain baboons.
But before he could act, Shen Yu stopped him.
Shen Yu studied the blind baboons and suddenly let out a helpless laugh.
"Those servants of the Perfect Human... Their eyes were taken just like that, weren’t they?"
He looked toward the depths of the forest.
"You knew we were coming, so you sent these insignificant minions to exhaust us."
His voice grew colder.
"Ho Yunying, how many eyeballs do you think it takes to satisfy the Perfect Human? Or should I ask this instead: once all the mountain baboons have had their eyes removed, what will you use to serve the Perfect Human?"
After Shen Yu finished speaking, a figure moved rapidly through the forest.
A sharp, familiar voice rang out.
"You know me? We only met once at the banquet, yet you already know who I am?"
The voice carried unmistakable surprise.
After all, in Shen Yu’s second playthrough, the afternoon meeting’s punishment had never been triggered. Naturally, he hadn’t had the opportunity to interact with Ho Yunying before.
"Don’t worry about how I know you. Let’s get back to the point."
Shen Yu’s expression remained calm.
"Are you really going to keep harming your own people just to survive?"
"What else can I do?" Ho Yunying retorted.
"Should I sacrifice myself to the Perfect Human because of some foolish ideal from the past?"
Her voice grew sharper.
"I know you’re one of Lin Wan’s people. I’m sorry, but I’m not a lunatic like Lin Wan. As long as we don’t resist, we can still survive."
She paused.
"If they take our eyes, we’ll give up our arms. If they take our arms, we’ll give up our legs. That’s how we survive!"
Shen Yu listened silently.
Ho Yunying’s voice gradually weakened.
"How about this, then?"
Clang!
The Fear Chicken Totem in Shen Yu’s hand suddenly glimmered.
At the same time, his neck began to swell and writhe. Large pores opened across his skin, and feathers sprouted along his neck before spreading over his entire body.
His spine twisted as his shoulder blades stretched outward.
Suddenly, two fleshy wings burst from his back, rapidly growing feathers.
His face began to shrink, his features gradually reshaping into a sharp, triangular beak.
Screech!
In the blink of an eye, Shen Yu had transformed from a human into a dove.
Flap!
The dove beat its wings and rose into the sky, hovering above the forest.
The entire canopy below shook violently in response to the powerful gusts.
A huge shadow spread across the trees.
Ho Yunying’s voice abruptly stopped.
"You... How do you possess Mr. Fu’s abilities?"
Her voice trembled.
"Did you kill one of his people?"
"Heh, heh, heh."
Shen Yu’s voice remained calm.
"Do you need me to kill him? Didn’t you see what happened last time? Mr. Fu sacrificed one of his legs."
He slowly circled above the forest.
"At the next celebration banquet, he’ll have nothing left to offer. Will he have to cut off his other leg?"
Shen Yu’s tone turned mocking.
"Do you think he could still survive as a Chicken after that?"
"You... You’re talking nonsense!"
Ho Yunying’s voice grew agitated.
"Doesn’t he still have relatives? Why would he be the one to make the sacrifice?"
"Well, what if I told you the Perfect Human has become more demanding?"
Shen Yu’s voice was as cold as ice.
"It wants an entire Chicken now."
He paused deliberately.
"Mr. Fu is different from you. He only has one daughter, so he can only sacrifice himself."
His words struck one psychological defense after another.
"Of course, you might suspect that I killed Mr. Fu. But tell me, could I kill something that can fly through the sky?"
Shen Yu’s voice was calm, yet every word felt like a cold blade cutting through Ho Yunying’s defenses.
After all, Shen Yu couldn’t possibly kill something flying in the sky.
But did the Perfect Human really intend to demand an even greater sacrifice next time?
A red-eyed baboon as large as a gorilla crawled out from between the branches. It nervously raised its head to look at the enormous dove overhead.
Ho Yunying still tried to maintain her composure.
"You can’t fool me! The Perfect Human has never changed the number of sacrifices. You’re trying to deceive me into resisting it!"
Her voice became defensive.
"Do you think I’ll turn against the Perfect Human? You and Lin Wan are lunatics, but I’m not!"
Despite her words, she was clearly unsettled.
Screech!
The dove hovering in the sky had inexplicably grown much larger.
It was now approximately the size of a small helicopter.
"Heh, heh, heh!"
Shen Yu laughed.
"You say you don’t believe me, but aren’t you still worried deep down?"
"You can’t fool me!"
Ho Yunying’s voice rang out again, but her confidence was already beginning to crumble.
Meanwhile, the Fear Chicken Totem had fully activated.
Shen Yu could feel his body expanding rapidly.
His wings beat faster and faster, sending powerful gusts through the air and violently shaking the treetops below.
