Death Leveling

Chapter 51 Toilet Bound Darren

  • Next Chapter

Got to my door, a whole week away from this place, and...

It’s not opening.

Last week it took a while until it opened, but afterwards I could walk in and out without an issue—did my MANA change again?—did it?

Strangely, the thought made my expression upgrade to a grin.

Yet again, I sat down... what’s the date again?—January 24 or 25?—can’t remember.

Then... it opened.

This time, Meowximus didn’t even come near me—it sat in the corner with its little eyes and glared at me, without movement—was it afraid?—heh.

From this distance to the raven, I couldn’t see anything—I could only "feel" that it exists, along with the other offspring I tortured and dumped into the lake.

Both of them were these little dots of MANA in my brain—inaccurately—or accurately—I could tell where they were, but that was the extent of my observation.

Hmm...

Let me...

Started focusing my MANA specifically on my brain and then closed my eyes.

"Mmm..."

"Ahh..."

What the fuck?!

Why did that cause pain?!

Yet again, I closed my eyes in another attempt...

My face began showing signs of struggle and... mild physical discomfort.

Faintly, as if it’s a badly shaped dream, I could see through the raven—I couldn’t see anyone at the lake—he’s gone?—I am able to feel two MANAs, so it would make sense.

Is he a success then?—is it a success because I forced my MANA onto him?—or is he just compatible with me?

Whatever the case...

I’m hungry.

Should I start hunting again?

There’s that girl that saw me... is there any chance I could just... run into her again?—that’s so unlikely, but at least I remember her face.

I raised my hand and stared at the ceiling lights...

Should.

I should.

From the bottom of my heart, I desire it.

When’s the tournament and academy starting again?—February something?

Sigh.

I peeped at the clock... "7:46 PM..."

It was time.

That time of the day again.

This kimono might be a little recognizable, but one ought to kill for aesthetic pleasure before hedonism!—yeah, right...

As I was about to take it off, the cogs in my brain began spinning.

"No..."

I set out—wearing.

Left the building and started walking around beneath a grim and rainy sky—city lights piercing through my eyelids and shining upon every corner.

It’s quite ridiculous how dense the MANA is in Im City—it’s nothing like outside, and it feels like my senses for MANA have increased even more.

I... almost find all this MANA irritating.

Walked and walked... all over the city with one hand inside my kimono.

Dodging cameras was easy—all of them had MANA imbued into them, so they were like sore thumbs.

Then stopped, after being in the middle of walking past a rather run-down restaurant that gave off the energy of buildings outside of Im City.

So many people inside—is there a show?—or some type of event?

I went inside.

The restaurant—or bar, whatever you’d call it—perfectly mirrored the buildings outside walls: dark wood, paneled ceiling, worn-down floor with dozens of framed records and posters overfilling the already-crowded space. It smelled like liquor and sweat—disgusting.

No security cameras, huh?

"So, ladies and gentlemen—would anyone volunteer to take the stage and perform with the legendary magician, Lord Fisk?!"

"Me!!" "I volunteer!!" "Me, me, me!"

Everyone yelled, raising their hands with overtly excited expressions that simply exhausted me.

"Lord Fisk... a magician?" I softly whispered to myself, with loud and obnoxious voices overshadowing every last word that came out of my mouth.

Don’t care.

Yet again, my eyes darkened.

I proceeded to skim over the crowd... reading their MANA and seeing whom I could devour from this place.

Suddenly, noticed a skinny guy with a backpack open a door at the side—someone’s ’bout to shit? I thought to myself.

Staggered my way next to the door as well and put my hand on it—had my palm on it for a few seconds, focusing on my hearing rather than anything else.

Just as he entered a stall, I peered the door open—and went in.

The sounds of people outside reverberated, yet I could tell that he was trapped in the bathroom with just me.

I turned around and... I can’t let anyone oversee us, can I now?—smirked.

Hardened my finger...

Then cut it off.

Had it pierce through the doorknob, wedging it in place—the door opened inward, so anyone trying to enter would find it stopped by my finger.

Then held up my hand, and my finger immediately regrew.

I flexed it around—it felt brand new.

Yet again, smirked—I’m getting better at regrowing my body parts, I thought.

Walked up to the stall he was in and put my hand on the doorknob—it’s locked—oh?—well, obviously, it would be.

He didn’t let out any sounds, in spite of someone clearly trying to enter.

So... I simply pulled.

And the stall door came off.

He held some type of magazine in his hands while having his pants down.

His expression though... mmmh... mm...

"Um— what?" he let out, staring at me in disbelief and puzzlement.

"You... what’s your name?" my voice on the other hand, was commanding yet vacuous.

"Name?— what?"

I sat down next to him and glared.

"Name—are you deaf or retarded?"

"J— John Darren," he mumbled in anxious stutters.

"And what’s your Level?" I replied instantaneously, maintaining the cold tone.

This time, words wouldn’t leave his mouth.

He began shaking—I wasn’t even letting out any bloodlust—what’s wrong with him?

"What are you reading?" I proceeded to grab the magazine out of his hand and...

"Boys love? The fuck you reading?"

Glanced at him yet again, my eyes were vacant—empty.

"Um— who—"

Instantly, my hand was inside his mouth—held his tongue.

Then crushed it.

"AAaaahh!!—"

Stood up, grabbed his head, and forced it into the toilet bowl—he began gurgling and struggling against my grip, desperately trying to pull himself free.

Less than a minute passed and his struggles had ended.

Cut off his head and left it in the bowl.

Devoured his upper half and left the rest in the stall.

Used his clothes to wipe away the blood from my lips.

"Darren..."

Released my MANA from the loose finger and it immediately burnt up... I guess, I can do this with all body parts then?

Put my hand yet again into the kimono and left the bathroom...

The magician is still performing—quite interesting.

His MANA is by far the densest here, but I can’t act on his MANA alone—even if he’s some nobody performer, relying on MANA quantity is unreliable.
