Chapter 59 MANA 101

Humiliation—that is something anguishing, something that’ll make you claw at the walls and force you to make those around you miserable.

I was humiliated after the Golden Knight—that is undeniable, I was.

Fisk... the Magician.

He beat me; bested me without competition.

Yet, I feel no humiliation.

He was stronger than me—and what about it?

Stood in my room—silently, without so much as a movement.

I could feel the cat’s eyes on me—I didn’t care.

Closed my eyes and continued standing like a statue.

"Fisk..."

I proceeded to suppress my MANA—its gravity subsided, becoming more obscure.

This time, I suppressed it even more than I did while fighting Fisk—I wanted to push it to the limit, so I had to force it to a rather profound state.

Then... I had my MANA go on my eyes—just a glimmer, nothing large or substantial to any extent—a light buzz of MANA—and then opened my eyes.

The cat had MANA, the curtains did, the computer—everything had MANA, very faint and dim, but it was all over the place—the surroundings all bathed in residual MANA that was barely tangible.

I knew what I had to do—I needed to experiment putting MANA on all my body parts, I’m not sure how I didn’t come up with this earlier, but it had to be done now or never.

Slightly, toned down my eyelids—breathing slowly, I could feel MANA entering and leaving my body.

The entire room—it was so tangible and pleasant, all of its floating MANA was in my arms.

Raised my right hand and had MANA go over it—without force, I increased my MANA on it...

And...

It began tingling.

The hair on my skin stood up and I could feel blood flow inside my arm.

Sharpened it—and poured even more MANA onto it—all while eyeing it with faint MANA on my eyes.

"It’s alive?" I whispered to myself.

*HISSSS!!*

I glanced at the cat. "Well, fuck you too then."

Then, I focused my MANA on my heart—gradually increased my MANA on it, with the tingling manually rising into a state of blood flow.

And it happened...

...heartbeat.

Put my hand over my chest—my heart was beating, it was alive and well.

Faintly, a smile popped up on my face.

I sharpened my right hand yet again, then pierced my chest and put my hand on my heart.

Hugged my heart as I softened my palm.

Grinning, I massaged it—tenderly like it’s my precious diamond.

It was.

Then...

"AH—"

Crushed my heart.

Immediately, I fell on my knees—I could feel pain, intense and nauseating pain.

Coughed blood—went over the carpet, leaving dark stains on it.

"Pain, huh..." I hadn’t felt it in a while—I thought.

Proceeded to focus my MANA yet again, this time on healing myself.

With my palm still inside my chest, my fingertips felt my heart regenerating from inside out—a brand new heart appeared and began beating yet again.

The hole in my chest healed over my arm inside it—had to take it out over the skin that was covering it.

I released my MANA and my heart quit beating—again empty, again dead and that of a corpse.

So, increasing MANA over my body returns it to a state of being alive?—and even returns physical pain to its glory?

Undeniably, this was interesting—most interesting.

I kept experimenting for a while longer—focusing my MANA all over my body, seeing what can and can’t be done.

"Hmm... Soyeon..."

I see a path with you now.

The next day came... sun rising... Sun Goh.

Sat down and opened up the computer—I hadn’t been online in a while, been too busy with other things lately.

As I browsed the internet, something peculiar was happening.

MANA.

I could see extremely faint MANA coming out of the computer—was that the internet?—is that why the internet is limited to the city you’re in?

I couldn’t see anything like that priorly, but now that I had decided to keep some MANA on my eyes at all times, it was very clear.

Instantly, I remembered the connection dimming with my raven over distance—the concept here seemed identical.

"System Killer—the plague of Immigrant City, three victims claimed."

I put my head closer to the screen and had my eyes widen.

"The Association finally goes public—a serial killer had been claiming victims for weeks on end."

"System Killer had been caught and executed—the only reason why the Association went public?—the internet speculates."

What is this?—that’s me, right?—why am I being talked about online?

And executed?—me?

I raised my eyebrow and glared.

"apparently some guy had been killing system users, ain’t that crazy?"

"Wdym system users?? It’s just a serial killer, it has nothing to do with systems idk why yall calling him a system killer"

"isn’t it a cool name though? the system killer?"

"Yeah cool name if you want to spread propaganda and fake news."

"i don’r believe he’s been killed tbh he will kill again, watch"

"fuck the system. fuck the association. fuck players. fuck this corrupt city."

I leaned back on my chair and had a grin gradually crawl onto my face—I was stupified, they were talking about me like I’m some legend.

"Haha..."

"HAHAHAHAHAHAH..."

Then I put my hand over my face and completely surrendered to this ever-overpowering laughter.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA...!!"

"Fisk...!!"

In yells...

"You... what the fuck did you do?! Was this your doing?!"

What did that man do?! Why are there rumors that I’m dead?! Is that his doing?!

With an increasingly more heinous grin, I began tapping my finger on the desk.

"If that is your doing, Fisk, I can’t exactly let you have your way, can I?" I said to no one—or perhaps, to the people that would beg to hear this.

Had my head go upwards—eyes glaring at the ceiling.

"System Killer," I can’t switch to outsiders now that they’re calling me that, can I?

Afterwards, a notification popped up—a notification from Nemo telling us about our next meeting, it was in a couple of hours to discuss the next mission and other details.

It was time.
