Chapter 66 Unsaid Wishes

  • Next Chapter

The perspective of a stranger:

"You’re always hanging out with them—you barely give me any time."

I sighed. "Well..."

As my hand went onto the doorknob, I turned around to face her.

"Bros before hoes, what can I say."

Immediately, she shook her head.

"Don’t give me some bullshit meme answer—take it seriously, I’m tired of this."

"It’s a serious answer."

"What’s serious about that?—enough."

"Whatever..." then as I began closing the door on her... "I’ll be back before midnight—I’ll text you, alright?"

She didn’t answer; I closed the door on her.

You know that cliché?—where you part ways with your loved one on bad terms, and then later regret it?

They happen because something goes wrong—you can’t fix the terms anymore, so you’re stranded with your words forever.

I don’t know where I’m getting with this, though—it’s just a passing thought, how I’m doing the same thing that creates deep-seated regret for people.

But so what if it does?—doesn’t mean it has to end like that for me.

That said, I might’ve just jinxed it now that I’ve processed all of these thoughts—is it over for me, chat?

I pulled out my phone and then stared at it—her message was the last one, so it was only right for me to message her next.

But...

I didn’t.

"Yo! We’re only missing Madison?"

"Yeah, but he should be here soon."

Finally, all three of us were here—we ordered drinks and prepared to feast, it was a day to celebrate with drinks! A massive day.

A big event!

An anniversary!

Also known as Friday!

An hour in...

"Got a horrible story to tell y’all..."

"Yeah?" "I’m all ears."

"So, this dude is hitting on my friend at work... while having a wife!!"

"Yikes..." "Oh no..."

"See, if he just wanted to have an affair it’s whatever... shit like that happens... maybe the marriage is dry or whatever. The problem is... well..."

"...she’s 18!! And he’s 43!!"

"Oh fuck..." "Did you try informing the boss or something?"

"She did, but it didn’t go anywhere—and he keeps on hitting on her any time he gets the chance to."

We got slightly offtopic for a bit, but then...

"Nah—what do you even mean report?—she’s 18, we can’t do anything."

"He’s 43, man—they’re bound to find something if they go through his devices, his ass needs to get jailed as fast as possible."

"Wait!! I got a better idea, actually!!"

Suddenly, Sinn got all excited... stood up from the table and moved around his hands frantically.

"What if we get all the proof and then send it to his wife?—won’t that settle it for good?"

"Ou, shiii!!" I let out instinctively... he’s a flipping genius!! "I’ll let her know tomorrow then."

"Yep, yep—praise me now, for being so smart!!"

"Okay, don’t push it, bro."

Another while had passed... it was getting late now.

"Fu...ck... I’m so hammered," I said as my face kissed the pub table... everything was spinning to hell.

"You never hold back, do you, Liam?"

Then with friendly aggressiveness, I pulled my face upwards and voiced, "das cuz’ you gotta blackout when you drink!! What kind of idiot drinks to just get a buzz, ehhhh?!—an idiot, das what kind of idiot!!"

"So, who’s getting this guy back home?—and don’t look at me," said Madison in playfulness.

Sinn... "what do you mean who?—the only other person here is me and I’m also piss drunk."

"You seem pretty concise for someone ’piss drunk,’ I ain’t gonna kid."

"Fuck home!! I don’t wanna ret— return to that woman!!"

Both of them instantly sighed—why da’ flip?!

"Avoidants certainly are the worst to date, aren’t they?" claimed Sinn as he glanced at Madison; so, they’re calling me an avoidant?!

"Fuh... ya— yall..." I let out as my head kept wiggling in circles...

"Should we go to the park once we’re done here then?—if you don’t want to go home?"

"HELL YEAH!! And smoke some cigs!!"

"Sure, sure."

We set out...

Fuh—I’m out of it!!

Sinn and I walked together—he held my arm as if my ass was disabled!! Sumbody get me a wheelchair, for reals.

We sat down on a bench in darkness...

"Should... shhuod— FUCK, I CAN’T SPEeakK!!"

"That’s what you get for drinking so much, man."

Grumpily, peeped at him with a comical expression—just for a moment!!

"Gimme dat!!" I said and proceeded to grab a cigarette out of his mouth—immediately took a massive puff myself.

"That’s... more like it!! Anyway..."

Then, my excitement was taken over by melancholy.

"...should I... text her?"

"Yeah, man—don’t ruin your relationship over some stupid shit that you could resolve through basic communication."

He right!! So many relationships die over that... I ain’t going to be like those dumbasses!!

"Mmmh... yeah... I should..."

I pulled out my phone and began staring at the chat...

dafreak67 [1:13 PM]: "Yeah, ok, sure SURE SURE"

Bonnie [1:14 PM]: "Why won’t you just communicate? If you have a problem, JUST SAY IT. Why do we need to run in constant circles with this??"

That was the message I didn’t reply to—we talked about it directly afterwards, but we didn’t get to resolve it anyway.

I had left on a bad note... to get drunk with my friends of all things.

"What should I say, though?" I said in a slightly sad voice.

"You should tell her you love her."

Huh...

I peered my head up and...

"Who you?"

As those words left my voice, gently his hand went onto my arm holding the phone.

With his right hand, he grabbed the phone and dropped it onto the ground...

Then...

"AAAAAAAHHH— FU— FUC...!!"

I screamed at the top of my lungs...

HIS FUCKING HAND WENT THROUGH MINE!!

The middle of my palm—smoothly, his sharpened hand pierced straight through it, splitting my palm along its very crease, as if my flesh were nothing more than a sheet of paper.

"Who— who the fuck—" Sinn...

"AHHHHHH!!" yet again... Sinn...

I couldn’t focus... all of it went onto the pain.

And then it doubled...

As my vision suddenly disappeared into red.

I couldn’t see—my left palm went onto my eyes and I could feel liquid.

Madison... "w— what’s happening?!"

"Don’t worry, you’ll have your sight for this one, darling."

His voice was gently disturbing.

I have never heard a voice this deeply debilitating.

He was right about one thing, though.

Which was...

"Bonnie..."

I love you.
