The three Dungeon Bosses of the Abandoned Tropical Island were the "Great Black Panther", the "Cannon Beak Toucan" and lastly, the leader of the tribe of intelligent monsters living on the island, the "Lizardman Shaman King".

Each one fought differently, so defeating one didn’t mean the next would be any easier. The Panther was difficult to catch, the Toucan was dangerous to approach, and the Shaman King had his entire tribe under his command.

The Great Black Panther was a deadly foe, capable of shifting between shadows and unleashing potent assassination attacks. It was fast and could avoid attacks easily, or even teleport away outright, so it took some time to catch and take down.

Whenever they thought they had cornered it, the monster slipped into another shadow, leaving their attacks to hit nothing. Then it appeared from a different direction, aiming its claws at whoever had left an opening.

Chasing it around only gave it more chances to attack, especially with so many trees blocking their view. They had to keep watching each other’s backs instead of focusing only on where it had last appeared.

Even when they managed to land a hit, they couldn’t let their guard down. An injured Panther was still a Panther, and it kept trying to escape until they finally stopped it from disappearing again.

By then, simply keeping track of the monster had become as exhausting as fighting it.

The Cannon Beak Toucan was a flying monster, a massive toucan the size of a truck. Its beak heated up before firing a powerful cannon blast at its foes. The attack was explosive and deadly, but its heavy beak also made it slow.

Unlike the Panther, it wasn’t difficult to spot. The problem was getting close enough to attack without standing directly in front of its beak. Whenever it started heating up, they had to move out of the way, because blocking a blast like that wasn’t something they wanted to try. Its size made every movement easy to follow, though, and turning around took it longer than it probably wanted.

Once they noticed that, they stopped trying to meet it head-on and went after its wings instead. It tried to keep them away, beating their wings and turning its beak toward them, but it couldn’t cover every direction at once. It ended up being far easier than the Panther once they took out one of its wings, brought it down, and defeated it.

And lastly, there was the Lizardman Shaman King. Unlike the two previous bosses, he had been brainwashed along with his tribe. A special Enslavement Collar around his neck forced him to obey human commands, while the lizardmen under his control were used as free labor to maintain the island.

They weren’t serving those humans because they wanted to. Their own king had been turned into a way to control them, and as long as the collar remained on his neck, none of them could refuse. That made fighting him different from hunting down the other two monsters. He was still dangerous, and letting him attack freely wasn’t an option, but he wasn’t the one who had chosen this fight. Every time he moved, the collar moved with him, an annoying reminder of who was actually responsible.

And right now, Kagehisa was fighting him. There wasn’t much time to think about the humans who had put the collar on him, not with the Shaman King attacking right in front of him. Kagehisa had to watch his movements and look for a chance to get closer, but every attempt brought another attack his way.

The collar was right there. He could see it whenever the lizardman turned but seeing it and being able to reach it were two very different things. For now, he had to keep the king occupied without getting himself killed.

CLAAASH!

"UNGAAAAHHHH!"

The gigantic, crocodile-like lizardman roared, thrusting his massive spear forward while conjuring powerful shamanistic spells, including deadly curses and poisonous fog. He also controlled totems that combined into powerful formations and barriers.

The fog spread around his feet as the totems blocked Kagehisa’s path, forcing him to move around them while avoiding the spear. Getting close meant dealing with several attacks at once, and the King kept casting spells whenever Kagehisa tried to find an opening.

Even with such a massive body, he knew how to keep an opponent from reaching him.

"Hah, you’re one tough nut to crack, aren’t you?!"

Kagehisa smiled and thrust his own Demonic Spear, the manifestation of his family treasure, unleashing several devastating thrusts that shattered the earth beneath him. He followed with a spinning attack, scattering dozens of blood-red petals.

His spear struck the barriers before the King could pull back, breaking through them and forcing the lizardman to defend himself. Kagehisa didn’t give him time to cast another spell. He stepped forward with each thrust, pushing him back instead of letting him rebuild his formations.

There were still totems standing around them, but stopping to destroy every single one would only give the King a chance to recover.

BOOOMMM!!!

"G-GAAAHAA?!"

The Lizardman Shaman King was unable to stop his rush of powerful attacks, which never let up for a single second. He raised his spear to block, only for Kagehisa to change the angle of his next thrust.

Trying to retreat didn’t help either. Kagehisa followed him, staying close enough that the King couldn’t use his spear’s reach to his advantage. The lizardman roared again, frustrated that none of his attempts were making Kagehisa slow down.

Kagehisa blurred and appeared behind him, firing dozens of explosive kunai into his massive body. The King turned to strike him, but the kunai exploded before his spear could reach him. Kagehisa was already moving, taking down the rest of the Undead the King had summoned and crushing them with his spear.

They tried to surround him while their summoner recovered, reaching for him from both sides. He swept his spear through the nearest ones and struck the others before they could close in. Leaving them alone would mean fighting the King with enemies at his back, and he wasn’t about to give them that chance.

Even then, he kept checking the lizardman’s movements, ready to return to the fight as soon as the last Undead fell.
