Chapter 142: Must Calm Down

Chapter 142: Chapter 142: Must Calm Down

Shi Hua’s fingers dug deeply into Bai Wanwan’s arm. She remained silent, but her trembling fingertips betrayed her terror.

Bai Wanwan’s heart was in her throat.

Xin Feng was exceptionally talented, but even his immense strength couldn’t hold up against a battle of attrition with over twenty ferocious Eagle Beasts attacking him.

She quickly opened the system panel, her fingertip flying across the holographic screen as she scanned the categories: daily necessities, food, medicine, furniture, home goods, apparel, cosmetics, building materials...

Eight categories, and not a single one could solve her immediate crisis.

"Hua Sheng, Hua Sheng."

"There are over twenty Eagle Beasts attacking outside! Do you have any way to deal with them?"

"I’m sorry, Host, but I am powerless to help. I can only advise you to protect yourself."

Bai Wanwan gritted her teeth. "If I die now, who’s going to complete missions and earn Points for you?"

The system let out a human-like sigh. "Host, I’m just a system. I really can’t help you. If you had taken my advice earlier and accepted a few more Beast Husbands and had a few more children, you would have unlocked the weapons category by now. Dealing with these Eagle Beasts would have been a piece of cake."

’What’s the use of saying that now?’

’Forget it...’

The battle outside was growing more intense. She forced herself to calm down.

’There’s medicine in the system that could treat Mu Feng’s injuries,’ she thought, ’But if Mu Feng backs down now, Xin Feng will be in even greater danger.’

The situation grew more dire with every passing moment.

With nearly twenty Eagle Beasts attacking frantically, Xin Feng could no longer go on the offensive. He could only use all his strength to defend the doorway of the stone house, shielding Mu Feng at the same time.

Suddenly, three of the Eagle Beasts changed direction, their sharp beaks aimed straight for Mu Feng!

"Watch out!" Shi Hua shrieked.

Mu Feng swatted one of them away with a paw, but his foreleg was pecked to a bloody pulp in the process. Blood dripped from his fur, glistening eerily in the moonlight.

"Mu Feng, get inside! Let Wanwan treat your wounds."

’Since Wanwan could heal me, she can definitely heal Mu Feng’s injuries. To protect Wanwan and the cubs, I need Mu Feng’s help.’

At great risk to himself, he weathered the Eagle Beasts’ attacks to get Mu Feng to the door of the stone house.

Mu Feng endured the pain and forced back two Eagle Beasts with a swipe of his paw, then quickly turned to Xin Feng. "If I go inside, it will be even harder for you."

"I can hold on for a little longer. Get inside."

Shi Hua and Bai Wanwan had already heard them. The door was open by the time the two beastmen reached it.

"Xin Feng, be careful."

"Yeah." His gaze was resolute as he quickly shut the door.

’I’ll risk my life to slaughter every last one of these Eagle Beasts. I won’t let them harm Wanwan and the cubs.’

Mu Feng was too large for Bai Wanwan and Shi Hua to lift. They could only help him lie down slowly.

Mu Feng was still in his beast form, his body seemingly soaked in blood. His wounds were so deep the bone was visible.

Tears streamed uncontrollably down Shi Hua’s face. "Mu Feng, does it hurt?"

"It doesn’t hurt. Don’t be afraid." Mu Feng forced himself to comfort her, but his voice was so weak it was barely a whisper.

’If this were a human, they would have already bled to death. Beastmen are incredibly tough. To be injured like this and still be able to fight...’

While Shi Hua and Mu Feng were talking, Bai Wanwan opened her system panel.

Seeing her balance was just over twenty thousand Points, she sighed and tapped on the medicine category.

The cheapest medicines at the top of the list cost only a few dozen Points.

But the fast-acting, high-potency medicines usually cost several thousand Points.

Mu Feng’s condition wasn’t life-threatening. If the situation weren’t so urgent, a few hundred Points worth of golden sore medicine would have been enough.

But right now, he needed the high-potency version, and a single tube of the ointment cost two thousand Points.

’If Mu Feng can recover, he can at least take some of the pressure off Xin Feng.’

’The Points have to be spent.’ Bai Wanwan gritted her teeth and hit the "Redeem" button.

Grasping the ointment that had materialized in her hand, Bai Wanwan quickly went to Shi Hua’s side and passed it to her. "Shi Hua, put this on Mu Feng."

Shi Hua had been panicking, but after hearing Bai Wanwan, she quickly took the ointment and began applying it to Mu Feng.

In less than two minutes, the bleeding stopped.

Mu Feng seemed much more alert.

Once the worst of the pain subsided, Mu Feng stood up, only to be pulled back by Shi Hua. "You’re injured! Don’t move around."

"I’m much better now. I have to go help." Mu Feng knew very well that if Xin Feng couldn’t hold on, everyone in the house—the females, the cubs, and himself—would die.

After hearing him out, Shi Hua reluctantly released her grip. "Please be careful."

"Don’t worry."

After reassuring Shi Hua, he turned to Bai Wanwan. "Thank you. If Shi Hua and I make it through today, my life is yours."

"Your life is your own. I helped you for Shi Hua’s sake, but also because I need you to help my Beast Husband."

"Alright. I’ll protect him with my life."

With that, Mu Feng decisively pulled open the door and went back outside.

With Mu Feng back in the fight and much recovered, the pressure on Xin Feng eased.

The ground outside the stone house was already littered with the corpses of Eagle Beasts, and blood was everywhere.

Both females were pregnant. After standing for so long in a state of high tension, Shi Hua was starting to feel unwell.

She held onto the door to support herself.

Bai Wanwan noticed her pale expression and immediately reached out to steady her. "Go sit down inside for a bit. Have faith in them. They’ll be okay."

Shi Hua took a deep breath, trying to ease the discomfort in her abdomen. "Okay."

’I’ve made up my mind,’ Bai Wanwan decided. ’We’re going to wear these Eagle Beasts down until they’re all dead today. I can’t even bring myself to buy snacks, and today these Eagle Beasts made me spend two thousand Points! If I’m spending two thousand Points, I might as well spend a few thousand more. In any case, these Eagle Beasts are all going to die today!’

After Bai Wanwan helped her sit down, Shi Hua spoke up. "Sister Wanwan, I’m fine, don’t worry about me. You’re pregnant too. Are you feeling uncomfortable?"

’Her own stomach was starting to ache faintly. Sister Wanwan was probably not doing much better.’

"I’m fine. If you’re really uncomfortable, take a deep breath and exhale slowly. Repeat that a few times."

Shi Hua immediately did as she said, slowly inhaling and exhaling.

After a few breaths, Shi Hua suddenly stopped. "Sister Wanwan, did you hear that?"

Bai Wanwan listened carefully. As she listened, she slowly raised her head.

THUMP. THUMP. THUMP...

The sound grew louder. Bai Wanwan quickly pulled Shi Hua to her feet. "Quick, get up!"

She ran to the sofa, trying to lift the cubs’ entire nest.

But the cubs were too heavy; it wouldn’t budge an inch.

Just then, a large hole was pecked through the roof overhead.

A sharp beak stabbed through, but its body was too large to fit, getting it stuck in the opening.

’I have to stay calm. If we rush out the door now, Xin Feng and Mu Feng are already having a hard time. They couldn’t possibly protect us and the cubs. Going out would be suicide. Staying inside is our only chance of survival.’

"Shi Hua, quick, throw something at it!"

’Right now, we just need to stall for as long as we can. At least there’s only one hole in the stone house, and the Eagle Beast can’t get all the way in.’

Bai Wanwan ran to the kitchen, grabbed a cleaver and a Stone Knife, and rushed back.

She climbed onto the stone bed, bringing her less than a meter away from the Eagle Beast.

Shi Hua was terrified. "Sister Wanwan, it’s dangerous! Come back!"
