Chapter 186: Chapter 186: Yan Lie Flees His Marriage

"Yes, that’s right."

If something really happened to the host, it would be severely weakened by having to rebind to a new one.

"Then hurry up and find out why."

Now, she cherished her life more than ever before.

If she were still unattached like she was at the beginning, life and death wouldn’t have mattered to her.

But now she had family and friends. She truly couldn’t be as detached as she used to be.

She didn’t dare to imagine how mad Zhu Xiu, Xin Feng, and Yan Lie would become if something really happened to her.

"I’m looking into it. Host, please also mate more with your Beast Husbands to increase the possibility of pregnancy."

They were her Beast Husbands, after all, so Bai Wanwan didn’t feel the same psychological burden she did with Chou Rong.

So her reply was crisp. "Okay."

After Hua Sheng’s voice faded, Bai Wanwan found it difficult to fall asleep for a long time.

She usually slept very well, but with Zhu Xiu’s departure and Hua Sheng’s words, her heart grew heavy.

Just as she was about to turn over, she suddenly felt a slight movement behind her.

Her body tensed instantly.

She subconsciously reached for the Stone Knife in her System Space, but then she heard a familiar voice from behind her:

"Wanwan... are you still awake?"

It was Yan Lie’s voice.

Bai Wanwan’s heart eased, and her tense body gradually relaxed.

"What are you doing here?" She turned over to face him, a hint of exhaustion in her voice.

"I just heard the door and saw Zhu Xiu leave. I thought I’d come and keep you company."

Heaven knew he couldn’t sleep at all and had been listening for any sound.

"You don’t have to stay with me. Go get some sleep..." Bai Wanwan said softly.

’Although I need to get pregnant with a cub as soon as possible, this room belongs to Zhu Xiu, after all, and he could come back at any moment. If that jealous king returned and caught us, none of us would get any sleep.’

Yan Lie just rested his arms on the edge of the bed, apparently not intending to get in.

"I’ll just keep you company like this. I’ll leave once you’re asleep."

Yan Lie also keenly sensed Bai Wanwan’s emotional turmoil. He reached under the covers, took her hand, and said, "If you can’t sleep, how about I tell you about my family..."

Bai Wanwan looked up at him. The room was pitch-black, and she couldn’t make out Yan Lie’s features.

But she could feel the male’s gaze fixed on her.

"Okay, I’m listening."

She really didn’t know much about Yan Lie’s past. With so many Beast Husbands at home, she didn’t have much time to talk with him.

"I actually come from a large tribe, too. I’m my Mother’s youngest cub. Not only did my Mother and Father Beast dote on me, but my older brothers also took good care of me."

"Mm, then why did you run away on your own?"

She still remembered the first time she met Yan Lie. He had collapsed on a snowy plain, on the verge of death.

Yan Lie looked at Bai Wanwan’s face, his expression slightly tense.

When Bai Wanwan saw him remain silent for a long moment, she couldn’t help but ask, "Why did you stop?"

Yan Lie quickly gripped her hand. "Wanwan, if I tell you, you have to promise not to get angry."

"That depends on what it is. As long as you didn’t cross a line, I won’t be angry."

Yan Lie’s scalp tingled. "Actually... I almost mated with a female."

Bai Wanwan’s brow furrowed. "Was it ’almost,’ or did you actually mate?"

"No, Wanwan, we didn’t mate! I don’t like her. If I had mated, how could I possibly be clinging to you now?"

He was now incredibly grateful for his decision back then. If he had really mated with Hua Ying, he would never have met Wanwan.

Or even if he had met Wanwan, he wouldn’t have been able to brazenly pursue her and become her Beast Husband.

"Then what exactly happened?"

"Well, my Father Beast and Mother saw that I didn’t like the females in the tribe and refused to mate with them, so they made a deal with the Fox Clan to have their female, Hua Ying, mate with me. I had never even met her and didn’t like her at all, so before my Father Beast could arrange our mating, I ran away..."

Bai Wanwan’s expression turned a little strange. She hadn’t expected to encounter a drama like a runaway groom.

She teased, "The females of the Fox Clan are supposed to be very beautiful, aren’t they? What if she was a peerless beauty? Wouldn’t you regret it?"

Afraid she was angry, Yan Lie immediately shot up from his crouch, leaned over to pull her into a full embrace, and buried his head in her hair. His voice was firm, without a trace of hesitation. "No regrets. Leaving home was the best decision I’ve ever made. Otherwise, how could I have ever met you?"

Bai Wanwan didn’t press him with pointless questions like, "What if she was a thousand times more beautiful and better than me?"

She trusted Yan Lie’s feelings for her. She reached out from under the covers and hugged him back. "Then once Zhu Xiu has recovered, we’ll go to your tribe and visit your Father Beast, Mother, and family."

Yan Lie’s eyes lit up, and he hugged her even tighter. "Wanwan, you’re the best."

Distracted by Yan Lie, her naturally carefree disposition took over, and the heavy thoughts that had just begun to weigh on her dissipated.

As they talked, she started yawning in Yan Lie’s arms.

"Sleepy?"

Bai Wanwan let out a lazy "mhm," found a comfortable position in his arms, and her consciousness began to drift.

Yan Lie held her like one would a small cub, patting her back gently and seeming to murmur something.

Bai Wanwan listened drowsily, but she couldn’t make out what he was saying before she slowly drifted off to sleep.

The next day, she woke up in a warm embrace.

Bai Wanwan shifted, snuggling in closer, wanting to go back to sleep.

But the male beside her was awake and gently lifted his arm, about to leave.

Bai Wanwan yawned and opened her eyes. The one she saw was not Yan Lie, but Zhu Xiu.

She had no idea when he’d gotten back.

Zhu Xiu hadn’t meant to wake her, but even his light movements had disturbed her.

"You can sleep a little longer. We’re going out of the city to catch fish. We’ll be back soon."

Bai Wanwan sat up, clutching the blanket. Her hair was messy, but her delicate features were fair and beautiful, giving her a kind of lazy, disheveled, natural beauty.

"I’m not going back to sleep. Did you find anything out when you went out yesterday?" she asked, her eyes half-open, not yet fully awake.

"I’ve checked most of the other places but found no trace of the Energy Stone. There’s still Clan Leader Jin Cang’s residence, but it’s heavily guarded. If I go in, I’ll alert them. I’ll wait for another chance to try again."

Zhu Xiu walked over, tilted his head, and planted a kiss on her cheek. "We’re leaving now. Take care of yourself. If you run into any unreasonable Beastmen, just lock the door and wait for us to get back."

"Okay, don’t worry. You’ll only be gone for a little while. Nothing will happen."

Zhu Xiu nodded. With more of them, their chances of success were higher. They would go and come back quickly.

Bai Wanwan got out of bed to see her Beast Husbands off. After sending all of them out the door, she yawned and headed back inside.

Xin Feng had already fed the cubs, who were now running and jumping around in the central courtyard.

Shi Hua had been up for a while and was playing with the cubs.

Looking at her belly, which was getting bigger by the day, Bai Wanwan asked, "Any stirrings yet?"

By her calculations, it was almost time for her to give birth.

"Mhm, they’re very well-behaved. They haven’t been bothering me."

"That’s good. Such considerate little cubs."

Bai Wanwan turned to wash up, chatting with Shi Hua as she did.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK...

The abrupt knocking interrupted their conversation.

Shi Hua started to get up to answer the door, but Bai Wanwan stopped her. "You stay put. I’ll get it."
