Jin Yi could have dodged, but if he had, the Eagle Beast’s claws would have struck Bai Wanwan.

In that split second of hesitation, the Eagle Beast’s claws sank into him.

Completely ignoring the gashes on his back, Jin Yi whipped his head around and bit down hard on the Eagle Beast’s neck.

With a sickening CRACK, the Eagle Beast’s neck snapped. Jin Yi tossed its body to the ground like a broken sack.

The Eagle Beasts kept attacking relentlessly as blood gushed from his wound.

The rich, coppery scent of blood drew even more Eagle Beasts toward him.

Xin Feng looked up, observing the situation. He frowned and said to Jin Yi, "Young Clan Leader, help me look after Wanwan. I’ll take your place."

With the sky full of Eagle Beasts, there was no room for error. The consequences of losing Wanwan would be unbearable for any of them.

With no time for another word, Xin Feng set Bai Wanwan down. "Wanwan, you have to stick close to the Young Clan Leader. Don’t wander off."

As soon as he finished speaking, Xin Feng took Jin Yi’s place in the fight.

Jin Yi’s wounds weren’t actually severe, but being injured, he was indeed the best choice to look after the little female.

He walked silently to the female’s side, shielding her from view with his massive body.

From a distance, the Eagle Beasts had completely surrounded them, a dark, oppressive mass blotting out the sky.

On a nearby cliff edge, two tall Eagle Clan males were coldly observing the battle.

"We should make our move."

"Let’s wait. Those males have very strong Talent Power. Now isn’t the right time to strike."

"Grey Feather, do you think that female is really the Holy Female?"

Bai Wanwan watched the Eagle Beasts blotting out the sky above her, her heart pounding with anxiety.

Sensing her emotional turmoil, Jin Yi spoke. "Don’t worry. The tribe will notice the commotion soon. Your Beast Husbands will be fine."

His words did little to soothe her. She kept her gaze fixed nervously on her Beast Husbands as they fought off the swarm.

The situation was growing more and more unfavorable for them. Grey Feather decided the time was right and threw his head back, letting out a piercing shriek.

Then, he and the other Eagle Beastmen behind him shifted into their beast forms. Spreading their massive wings, they dove toward the female in front of the Golden Lion.

Jin Yi was protecting Bai Wanwan, only striking out at the occasional Eagle Beast that slipped through their defenses for a surprise attack. He remained vigilant of his surroundings, so he was the first to spot the Eagle Beastmen as they began their dive.

"This is bad! There are Eagle Beastmen hiding in ambush nearby!"

If Eagle Beasts were the bane of small and medium-sized tribes, then Eagle Beastmen were the nightmare of all Beastmen.

Among Beastmen of the same rank, Eagle Beasts held the advantage of the sky. If they caught a male and dragged him into the air, even the most powerful warrior would face certain death.

Jin Yi’s warning immediately drew the attention of Zhu Xiu and the others to the five Eagle Beasts diving in from behind them.

They were clearly larger and stronger than the wild Eagle Beasts.

Zhu Xiu’s expression turned grim as he made an instant assessment. "They’re after Wanwan! Protect her!"

The males immediately tightened their protective circle, shielding Bai Wanwan completely in the center.

Jin Yi stared intently at the approaching Eagle Beastmen. ’It’s strange,’ he thought. ’To snatch a female, they’re willing to incite wild Eagle Beasts to attack us. Aren’t they afraid of our tribe’s retaliation?’

"We need to get rid of these Eagle Beasts, and fast!"

Gritting his teeth, Yan Lie leaped into the air. His sharp fangs pierced the wing of the nearest Eagle Beast, and he viciously slammed it to the ground.

In an instant, the transformed Eagle Beastmen were upon them. They didn’t attack Zhu Xiu or the other males; their target was clear as they dove straight for Bai Wanwan.

Zhu Xiu swung his Snake Tail like a giant iron hammer, smashing it toward the five diving Eagle Beasts.

Jin Yi also moved swiftly to Bai Wanwan’s side, pulling her into his embrace with one massive paw.

Bai Wanwan was tense when she felt the massive body press against her back.

"Stay close to me."

Only if she stayed close could Jin Yi guarantee they wouldn’t be able to snatch Bai Wanwan from under him before they took him down.

Zhu Xiu’s long tail successfully intercepted three of the Eagle Beasts, but the other two seized the opportunity to attack from the side, their sharp talons reaching for the female in front of Jin Yi.

Jin Yi roared in fury, pinning Bai Wanwan to his chest with one paw as he opened his fearsome jaws and lunged for the flapping wings.

But the Eagle Beastman was clearly more intelligent and agile than the wild Eagle Beasts. He swiftly dodged Jin Yi’s attack, circled in the air, and swooped back in.

Unable to move much while protecting Bai Wanwan, Jin Yi’s head and back were pecked several times by the Eagle Beast.

If not for the power of his Yellow Rank Talent, the Eagle Beast would have already pecked his skull open.

Bai Wanwan glared resentfully at the circling Eagle Beasts. They dove again and again, relentlessly attacking her Beast Husbands.

The memory of what happened in the Black Dog Tribe flashed through her mind.

As the Eagle Beasts launched yet another attack, Bai Wanwan pressed the confirmation button on her panel. A huge pile of meat chunks was suddenly scattered into the air.

The wild Eagle Beasts immediately abandoned their targets, their eyes tracking the meat that had practically been delivered to their beaks.

Zhu Xiu and Xin Feng seized the opportunity. Zhu Xiu’s long tail whipped out, smashing four Eagle Beasts out of the sky. Meanwhile, Xin Feng and Yan Lie each tore open the belly of an Eagle Beast with a single swipe of their claws.

In a matter of moments, most of the wild Eagle Beasts had been dealt with.

Without the wild Eagle Beasts to obscure their vision, Grey Feather and the other Eagle Beastmen would face greater risks if they tried to approach again.

"Grey Feather, they’re guarding her too closely! What do we do if we can’t get her?"

A decisive glint flashed in the Eagle Beastman’s eyes. "Now! Attack the Golden Lion with everything you’ve got and snatch the female!"

With that, the five Eagle Beastmen took advantage of the moment Zhu Xiu and the others were focused on finishing off the wild Eagle Beasts, and dove in unison toward the Golden Lion.

Bai Wanwan saw them coming. Pressed against Jin Yi’s chest, every muscle in her body tensed.

Zhu Xiu and Xin Feng rushed back to help. Zhu Xiu reared up his massive beast form, opened his terrifying jaws, and lunged, intending to swallow Grey Feather whole...

Grey Feather had pushed his speed to the absolute limit, but Zhu Xiu still managed to tear off several of his feathers.

"Damned Snake Beast!"

Grey Feather cursed. In the instant he glanced back, he saw Zhu Xiu switch targets, swallowing another Eagle Beastman whole.

The remaining Eagle Beastmen were petrified. Forgetting all about capturing the female, they frantically flapped their wings to get away from the ground.

CREAK...

The main gate of the Golden Lion Tribe swung open, and a pack of Golden Lions charged out.

Grey Feather looked at the female, so close yet so far, his heart filled with bitter resentment.

"Snake Beast, you’ve injured one of our clan’s own! The Eagle Clan will hunt you to the ends of the earth!"
