Chapter 275: Chapter 275: A Feast for the Eyes

Xiong Zong dug his claws into the earth, his voice brimming with excitement.

His gaze swept over Zhu Xiu and Xin Feng, who stood beside Jin Yi. Although he could tell the two males possessed considerable Talent Power, there were only three of them in total.

He didn’t give them a second thought.

Jin Yi stared at him coldly. "Xiong Zong, your actions will turn the Golden Lion Clan and the Bear Clan into mortal enemies. Is that what you want?"

Xiong Zong let out a laugh. "HA! And how is it any better now? There are only so many resources around here. The existence of your Golden Lion Clan is already hindering the future of the Bear Clan."

Jin Yi’s gaze hardened. ’With the attitude Xiong Zong is showing, it looks like this won’t end peacefully.’

He quickly turned to Zhu Xiu and Xin Feng. "You don’t have to get involved in this. Take Bai Wanwan and go, now."

Both Zhu Xiu and Xin Feng looked at him.

Zhu Xiu remained silent, but Xin Feng voiced their intentions.

"These Bear Clan Beastmen hurt Wanwan. Even if it weren’t for you, we would still need to settle this score for her."

Xiong Zong wasn’t paying attention to their conversation. Instead, he turned his head and glanced around.

He was a little disappointed not to see Bai Wanwan.

"You sure got off easy. Where’s that pretty little female? Did you get to mate with her?"

Xiong Zong looked like he was enjoying the drama. "What a shame. I was hoping to see if you’d help her. If you hadn’t run away, we could have watched a good show."

The male was completely oblivious. As he spoke, the gaze of the other male standing nearby—the one whose pupils glowed red—grew increasingly frigid.

The two males beside him, however, did notice. They immediately moved to stand in front of Xiong Zong, staring warily at Zhu Xiu.

Xiong Zong paid it no mind. He pointed a bear claw at Zhu Xiu, then at Jin Yi, his tone dripping with contempt. "You three think you can turn this around and kill me? Pathetic. Jin Yi, you’re destined to never lead your Golden Lion Tribe to glory..."

As soon as he finished speaking, his Beastmen lunged forward to attack.

But Zhu Xiu was faster. A colossal, pitch-black King Cobra materialized, blocking their path.

The attacking Beastmen froze, taking several steps back in fright.

"A King Cobra..."

The massive beast’s body and the crushing pressure it exuded made Xiong Zong sense the danger.

He spoke tentatively, "This is a grudge between the Bear Clan and the Golden Lion Clan. If you don’t want trouble, you’d best step aside."

The King Cobra’s vertical pupils shone with a sinister light. With a flicker of its scarlet, forked tongue, it drew close to the nearest Bear Clan Beastman.

In a matter of moments, the menacing Bear Clan Beastmen were thrown into chaos.

Sprayed by a toxic mist, two Green Rank Talent Bear Beasts died instantly.

The other Bear Beasts that tried to attack Zhu Xiu were sent flying by his long tail.

Xiong Zong realized he was facing terrifying combat strength.

He held up a hand, gesturing for Zhu Xiu to calm down.

"Just stay out of the conflict between us and the Golden Lion Clan. If you ever need a favor from the Bear Clan in the future, I’ll be sure to help."

The King Cobra’s vertical pupils swiveled, scarlet and sinister. "If you hadn’t harmed my female, I might have considered your offer."

"Your female..."

Xiong Zong repeated the words, and his expression froze. "That female... Bai Wanwan... she’s your Wife?"

But Zhu Xiu had lost all patience for conversation. He lowered his massive head and charged straight for Xiong Zong.

Xiong Zong was, after all, a Yellow Rank Talent Beastman.

He dodged in a flash, swiping his Talent Power-infused claws toward the snake’s belly.

This was the very opening Zhu Xiu had intentionally created!

As Xiong Zong charged forward in excitement, he failed to notice the Snake Tail already looping around behind him.

The instant Xiong Zong struck, the Snake Tail was poised to constrict.

In an instant, Zhu Xiu twisted. The sharp claws scraped across his tough spine with a high-pitched SSSKKKRR, but failed to pierce his hide or leave a single scratch.

This was a new ability he had gained—a blessing in disguise from absorbing the Energy Stone—which had boosted his power.

"How is that possible?"

Xiong Zong stared at his claws in disbelief. The next second, his beast form was caught in the King Cobra’s tight embrace.

The intense pressure shifted his internal organs. Amid the excruciating pain, regret and fear began to set in.

He looked up at the giant snake head. "Let... me go... I... I am... the clan’s... Young... Clan Leader."

Zhu Xiu looked down at him, his expression cold and unresponsive. He only coiled tighter.

Jin Yi took a step forward, about to intervene.

’If they really kill Xiong Zong, this will become a serious problem.’

But as he moved, Xin Feng moved too.

He reached out, stopping Jin Yi.

"The Bear Clan already tried to kill you, Young Clan Leader. Do you really think your two tribes can coexist peacefully if you let him go?"

Xin Feng’s eyes were fixed on the suffocating Xiong Zong.

He thought the same as Zhu Xiu. Xiong Zong had threatened Wanwan, and after today, an inescapable feud would exist between them.

Wanwan was a Holy Female, and she had few Beast Husbands to protect her.

’We can’t leave such a threat lingering.’

So, he continued, speaking to Jin Yi, "Dozens of the males the Bear Clan’s Young Clan Leader brought are dead. The feud is already set in stone. If you let him go, he will only come back for revenge with even more ferocity. Even if you can’t hide the fact that he died here, his death will still weaken the Bear Clan’s strength. Young Clan Leader, please, think it over."

Jin Yi’s forward step halted.

’He’s right,’ Jin Yi thought. ’Xiong Zong planned to kill me today. I wasn’t going to let him leave easily, either.’

The seeds of hatred had been sown. Xiong Zong himself had destroyed any chance of peace.

Jin Yi took a shallow breath. After a moment of rapid thought, he made his decision.

’No matter how the Bear Clan reacts when they learn the truth, Xiong Zong must die here today.’

In that short time, Xiong Zong’s face had turned a horrifying purplish-red. His eyeballs bulged, and his tongue lolled limply from his mouth.

"Jin Yi... I beg you..."

Xiong Zong squeezed out the words with the last of his strength.

Jin Yi stood motionless. "You brought this on yourself!"

The distinct sound of cracking bones was piercing in the suddenly silent forest.

Xiong Zong’s body convulsed violently a few times before going completely limp.

Zhu Xiu released his coils. Xiong Zong’s massive body slammed onto the ground like a sack of broken rags, lifeless.

The remaining Bear Clan Beastmen watched, their faces ashen with terror.

They had wanted to rescue their Young Clan Leader but had been too afraid to move. Now that he was dead, they scattered, fleeing for their lives.

But the moment they moved, the three males gave chase.

Three powerful Yellow Rank Talent males swiftly hunted down the remnants of the Bear Clan group.

The forest was filled with sporadic screams and the thick stench of blood, terrifying the nearby wildlife into stillness.

Bai Wanwan was also awakened by the commotion.

The first thing she felt was a warm embrace. Her fingers twitched, brushing against firm, hot skin.

"You’re awake?"

The male’s voice was a lazy, contented drawl as he gently lifted her into a sitting position.

Bai Wanwan opened her eyes to the sight of a handsome, bare-chested man who looked good enough to eat.

But her head was still a bit dizzy. She leaned against his shoulder and asked affectionately, "What happened to me?"
