Chapter 277: Chapter 277: Pretend Nothing Happened

She seemed to have been the one to initiate it, clinging to him and kissing his Adam’s apple. His warm palm had tried to push her away, but she had grabbed his wrist and pulled his hand onto her body.

She could even clearly recall the shiver that ran through her as his rough, lightly calloused palms caressed her skin...

What happened after that?

She seemed to have stripped off his beast hide and climbed on top of him.

After that, it all became a blur; she couldn’t remember clearly.

But one thing was certain: she had groped Jin Yi all over, taking full advantage of him.

Bai Wanwan had always considered herself thick-skinned, but now, recalling what she’d done to Jin Yi, she was so mortified she had the sudden urge to dig a hole in the ground, build a grand villa inside it, and hide away forever.

Jin Yi noticed Bai Wanwan’s gaze and subconsciously turned, his eyes meeting hers.

Those eyes were as beautiful as a crystal-clear spring during Yan Ji, the very source of the adoration that drowned him, leaving him unable to escape.

But the moment their gazes met, Bai Wanwan quickly turned her head away, as if trying desperately to distance herself from him.

Jin Yi lowered his eyelids, hiding the bitter feeling in his heart.

’She really doesn’t like me when she’s sober.’

Bai Wanwan’s heart was a mess of emotions, her eyes darting about in frustration.

’I took advantage of someone. Can I just pretend it never happened?’

She knew perfectly well that Jin Yi didn’t feel that way about her. He was probably still upset about what happened last night.

’So maybe... I’ll just pretend nothing ever happened?’

"What are you thinking about?"

Holding her, Zhu Xiu noticed her strange expression and asked.

There was no way Bai Wanwan would dare mention it. She immediately changed the subject. "Oh, right. Zhuo Ling escaped. Did you guys see her?"

Jin Yi, unaware of the grudge between Bai Wanwan and Zhuo Ling, replied, "There are males from the tribe nearby. If she escaped, she would have run into them."

That was why he hadn’t been worried, nor had he thought about looking for Zhuo Ling. The tribe’s beastmen were nearby.

If Zhuo Ling ran out, she would meet them.

Bai Wanwan snorted softly and thought to herself: ’What a pity.’

The disappointment in her heart hadn’t even faded when she heard Yan Lie speak up. "You mean the Zhuo Ling from the Black Dog Tribe?"

"Yes, the same Zhuo Ling who tried to harm us."

Even in front of Jin Yi, she didn’t hold back. Zhuo Ling had tried to harm her twice; there was no room for reconciliation between them.

She would definitely take Zhuo Ling’s life!

’If Jin Yi wants to become my enemy for Zhuo Ling’s sake, then there’s nothing more to be said. I’ll just have to be his enemy.’

’Worst comes to worst, we’ll leave the Golden Lion Tribe. We only came for the Energy Stones in the first place, and planned to stay through the rainy and snowy seasons.’

’But if we can’t stay in the Golden Lion Tribe, we can just find a cave in the mountains.’

’She had her System Space; she could build a comfortable place to live anywhere.’

Just as she was pondering how to get even with Zhuo Ling, Yan Lie spoke again.

"When we were coming over, we ran into that female named Zhuo Ling. Her leg had been bitten through by a wild wolf, and she’d lost a lot of blood..."

Surprise showed on Bai Wanwan’s face. "Did you see it with your own eyes?" she pressed.

Standing nearby, Yan Lie nodded and looked at Zhu Xiu and Xin Feng. "It wasn’t just me. Zhu Xiu and Xin Feng saw it too."

Bai Wanwan, with her arms wrapped around Zhu Xiu’s neck, glanced at him and then at Xin Feng. "Was she badly hurt?"

Inwardly, she was hoping Zhuo Ling was very seriously injured, but not dead just yet.

She had to "see her off" personally, to make sure she left this world "happily," of course.

Xin Feng saw the unconcealed schadenfreude in her sparkling eyes and softened his gaze adoringly. "Yes, she was badly hurt. Lost a lot of blood. Even if she’s taken back to the tribe, she might not be saved."

After all, females didn’t have the same powerful regenerative abilities as males.

Upon hearing this, Jin Yi’s expression changed, and he turned to walk out.

But when he reached the entrance, he suddenly stopped.

"Thank you for your help just now. But something happened to Xiong Zong. The Bear Clan will be investigating soon. You should all hurry back to your tribe."

With that said, he didn’t linger, disappearing from the entrance in the blink of an eye.

Bai Wanwan watched his rapidly departing figure and curled her lip.

’It really must be his first love. The moment he heard she was hurt, he couldn’t wait to go to her.’

She didn’t realize at all what this feeling of hers meant.

She just felt a slight irritation, especially since Zhuo Ling was her mortal enemy.

"Jin Yi said you killed Xiong Zong?"

It dawned on Bai Wanwan, and her beautiful eyes filled with worry. "I heard that Xiong Zong is the Young Clan Leader of the Bear Clan. This could get serious."

"He hurt you. He couldn’t be allowed to live," Zhu Xiu said, his expression calm as he carried her steadily outside. "Besides, we’re not beastmen of the Golden Lion Tribe. We can leave anytime. They can’t pin it on us."

As for whether it would cause trouble for the Golden Lion Tribe, that had nothing to do with him.

Xiong Zong’s original target was the Golden Lion Tribe’s Young Clan Leader anyway.

A grudge already existed between them.

Zhu Xiu carried her out of the mountain crevice, with Xin Feng and Yan Lie following close behind.

The three of them hadn’t gone far before they encountered two Bear Clan Beastmen.

Without a word, Yan Lie and Xin Feng moved forward, their first moves lethal.

The two Green Rank males didn’t even last ten seconds against them before they fell to the ground, stiff and lifeless.

Bai Wanwan looked at the two males, now devoid of life.

Her heart was completely calm. In just a short year since coming to the Beast World, she had already grown accustomed to this cruel law of the jungle.

After Bai Wanwan’s group had left, a curtain of hidden leaves was pushed aside, and several males hurried out.

Roger’s gaze shifted from the distant figures of Bai Wanwan and her males.

It fell upon the two Bear Clan Beastmen on the ground, his thoughts unreadable.

"Captain, those males are too powerful. We can’t convert them right now."

Roger just stared at the males on the ground, lost in thought, and didn’t respond.

The male standing on Roger’s other side spoke up. "Captain, we’ve already wasted a lot of time in the Golden Lion Tribe. We need to complete the mission as soon as possible and head back before the rainy season arrives."

Roger slowly raised his head, a dark, inscrutable look shimmering in his eyes.

He turned his head to the male who had just spoken. "How about you be the captain?"

The male was so frightened he immediately lowered his head. "Captain, that’s not what I meant. I’m just worried... if we don’t complete the mission, all of us will..."

Before he could finish, Roger cut him off with a raised hand. "I know what I need to do."

After a moment of contemplation, he made a decision. "We’ll deal with the remaining matters in the Golden Lion Tribe within three days, and then we leave."

This time, he had come to the Golden Lion Tribe with a mission.

Seeing Bai Wanwan alive was a pleasant surprise for him.

But... he couldn’t take her from those Yellow Rank Beastmen right now.

Besides, even if he did manage to take her, his own hands were tied; he couldn’t provide her with a safe haven.

’No need to rush. She’s still alive.’

’As long as she was alive... he still had a chance.’
