Chapter 313: Chapter 313: Going to Find Him Personally

Yan Lie was in turmoil as well. ’Why isn’t Xin Feng back?’

"I just saw him a moment ago..."

He hadn’t wanted to worry Wanwan, but now Xin Feng was really gone.

He watched the Golden Lions rush toward the tribe’s gate, but there was no sign of the Silver Wolf.

Bai Wanwan said no more and quickly turned, running down the stone wall.

The wind howled across the snowy plains, carrying a bone-chilling cold. She stood before the tribe’s gate, her fingers clutching the hem of her clothes.

Her gaze frantically searched the crowd of returning Beastmen for a familiar figure.

The one with silver-gray fur and a powerful build, who was always by her side, silently protecting her.

But he wasn’t there. Even after the last Beastman had returned, she still hadn’t seen any sign of Xin Feng.

Bai Wanwan’s heart suddenly pounded, and her chest felt like it was being squeezed by an invisible hand.

She hurried over to the nearest Golden Lion Clan Beastman. The male was bent over, licking a wound on his arm.

"Excuse me, the Silver Wolf who was fighting alongside you—did you see him?" Her voice was taut, suppressing the panic rising in her heart.

The Golden Lion looked up, his golden eyes weary. "Yeah, I saw him on the battlefield just now."

"Then where is he?" Bai Wanwan pressed, unconsciously taking a step forward.

He glanced around, his thick mane still matted with wet blood. "Strange, I don’t see him."

He scratched his head. "I saw him weaving through those Beastmen from the Black Bear Tribe."

Bai Wanwan pressed her lips together and immediately turned to the Beastman next to him. "Excuse me, did you see the Silver Wolf on your way back?"

"I saw him outside just now, but I don’t think I’ve seen him since we got back."

As he spoke, he also looked around.

Bai Wanwan’s heart sank.

’He was fine. Why would he suddenly disappear?’

’Did not a single Beastman see him?’

She turned and stopped another injured Beastman who was walking slowly.

She asked tirelessly, but he gave the same answer: the last time he saw Xin Feng was in the middle of the battlefield, and he hadn’t paid attention after that.

One by one, she questioned every single Beastman.

The answers were all more or less the same. Everyone had seen Xin Feng, but no one knew where he had ended up.

Bai Wanwan’s nails dug deep into her palms, but she couldn’t feel the pain.

She turned around to face the world outside the tribe’s gate.

The snow continued to fall softly. Outside the tribe, on the trampled, chaotic plains, countless Beastman corpses lay scattered about.

In an instant, she made a decision.

"Jin Cang Clan Leader!"

Bai Wanwan strode toward the Lion Clan’s Clan Leader, who was directing the treatment of the wounded, her voice rising with anxiety. "My Beast Husband isn’t back yet. Could you lend me some High Rank Beastmen? I want to go look for him."

Jin Cang turned his head, seemingly surprised, his thick golden eyebrows knitting together. "Your Beast Husband isn’t back?"

He glanced around, his expression growing grim. "Alright. I’ll have Jin Yue take some men and search for him immediately."

He waved over the powerfully built Jin Yue and gave him a few brief instructions.

"Bai Wanwan’s Beast Husband has not returned. Take the males with Yellow Rank Talent and go find him at once. You must bring him back!"

The tide of this battle had turned thanks to Bai Wanwan and her Beast Husbands.

If not for her and her family, the Golden Lion Clan might have lost their home.

And many more of their clan members would now be lying dead outside.

"Yes, Clan Leader. I’ll take them and go search right away."

In the blink of an eye, Jin Yue had assembled a dozen or so High Rank Males.

Bai Wanwan pulled her down jacket tighter and stepped forward to join the group.

"Wanwan, it’s too dangerous out there." Jin Cang reached out a hand to stop her. "Let the males go look for him."

"I’m going too."

The Black Bear Tribe had already retreated from the snowy plains, and the battlefield wasn’t too far away.

She couldn’t bear the anxious wait any longer; she had to go see for herself.

Bai Wanwan looked directly into the Clan Leader’s golden eyes, her voice firm. "I want to find him myself. Please help me look after Zhu Xiu for a while. I’ll be back soon."

Yan Lie, who had been by her side the whole time, heard she was going out and immediately spoke up. "Wanwan, I’ll go with you."

Yan Lie dragged his battered body forward. His fur was matted with grime, blood, and ice, and some of his wounds were still oozing blood.

Most worryingly, he kept scratching at certain spots on his body with his claws, already opening new wounds.

"Don’t move!"

Bai Wanwan pressed his paw down, her heart aching. "You’re this injured, you don’t need to come with me. The Golden Lion Clan Beastmen will protect me; I’ll be fine. Go find the Witch Doctor to treat your wounds, and help me watch Zhu Xiu. I’ll be back soon."

"No."

Yan Lie stubbornly shook his head, his amber eyes fixed on her. "I can’t let you leave the tribe alone. Unless I go with you, you’re not going out either."

Bai Wanwan bit her lower lip. There was no time to waste.

’It’s probably impossible to talk Yan Lie out of this,’ she thought. ’In that case, we’ll just have to go and come back quickly.’

"Fine. Let’s go now."

Yan Lie lay down in front of her, and Bai Wanwan easily climbed onto his back.

But she didn’t dare lie down casually as she used to.

He was covered in wounds. Although some had been treated with golden sore medicine, he couldn’t stop scratching because of the intense itching.

Scabs that had just formed were scratched open again.

She sat stiffly, her heart aching as she stroked his blood-stained fur.

"Does it hurt a lot?" Bai Wanwan leaned over and blew gently on his wounds. "Just bear with it. I’ll figure out a way to stop the itching when we get back."

Just as the maddening itch flared up and he was about to raise his paw to scratch again...

...he felt Bai Wanwan’s breath on his wounds, and the itch in his heart and his irritation seemed to be soothed as if by a feather’s touch.

"Wanwan, blow on them again. If you blow on them, it won’t itch or hurt anymore."

How could it possibly not itch or hurt? But at a time like this, her heart was filled with nothing but pity, so of course she would grant his request without question.

Not only did she blow on his wounds the whole way, but she also exchanged for more golden sore medicine to apply.

Yan Lie ran across the snowy plains with the other Golden Lions, fighting the urge to scratch several times.

"Don’t scratch. Just bear it."

So he forced himself to endure the itch. Sometimes it was so intense that he would tremble all over from the effort.

The group of Beastmen galloped across the snowy plains, and the wind immediately struck them like a knife.

While applying medicine to Yan Lie, Bai Wanwan buried her face in her scarf, but she could still feel the cold seeping into her bones.

There were even more bodies on the snowy plains than it had seemed from a distance—both from the Black Bear Clan and the Golden Lion Tribe—all covered in a thin layer of snow.

In a little while, it would probably be impossible to tell who was who.

It would be even harder for her to find Xin Feng.

"We need to move faster. Look, the snow is about to completely cover the Beastmens’ bodies."

Finally, braving the snowflakes, they arrived at the place where the battle had been fought.

Jin Yue and his group had been faster and were already searching the nearby Beastman corpses.

Yan Lie was the last to arrive. The moment Bai Wanwan slid off his back, he could no longer bear it and began to scratch furiously.

Bai Wanwan had no time to worry about him now; she had to hurry and find Xin Feng.

"Xin Feng!"
