Chapter 354: Chapter 354: Why Not Repay Me Now

Bai Wanwan fell silent for a moment, then followed her heart and shook her head. "I have to leave."

Yin Ze’s expression darkened when he heard this.

He stood there looking at her for a moment before turning and going into the house.

Seeing this, Yin Mei offered her a comforting word before following him.

Bai Wanwan thought he was angry, and the usual smile left her lips.

She remembered nothing after waking up and lacked a sense of security. In truth, she had imprinted on Yin Ze and Yin Mei, who had saved her, like a baby bird.

She had grown quite dependent on them, and the sudden prospect of parting was difficult for her to accept.

But her subconscious told her that if she stayed here in a daze, without finding out who those four males were, she would regret it for the rest of her life.

Glancing in the direction of the stone house, Bai Wanwan decided to go ask again when the caravan would return. She wanted to leave with them.

Meanwhile, Yin Mei pushed open the door and entered the house. Staring at Yin Ze’s back as he drank water, she sighed and said, "Are you angry?"

Yin Ze didn’t turn around and continued drinking his water.

"Wanwan has forgotten her past, so she must be anxious. It’s only natural that she wants to figure out her history. If you’re getting angry at her for this, even as your Sister, I can’t take your side."

Yin Ze put down the stone bowl and turned around.

"I’m not angry. I just need some time to think about something."

"Oh? What is it?"

Yin Ze looked at his Sister, his eyes betraying an inner struggle.

He had taken her away to live in this mid-sized tribe precisely because he was afraid she would be mistreated in their old one.

He had promised the Beast God that with his Sister as his only family, he would always protect her and watch over her happiness.

But now, he felt an impulse to go with Wanwan, to help her search for her lost memories.

Yin Mei had grown up with him, after all. Seeing the hesitation in his furrowed brow, she quickly understood.

"You want to leave with Wanwan?" As Yin Mei said this, not only was she not angry, but her eyes lit up.

"I... Sister, I haven’t decided yet," Yin Ze said honestly.

This was no small matter. Even though his Sister had Kong Lai with her now, one male might not be enough to protect her.

To leave... he was worried.

Sensing Yin Ze’s worry and hesitation, Yin Mei stepped forward and gently hugged him. "Yin Ze, you’ve done enough for me. I hope you can fight for your own happiness too. Wanwan is a good female. I like her too. If you work hard and become her Beast Husband... I don’t have any cubs of my own, so how about I help you two raise yours in the future?"

A blush crept up from the base of Yin Ze’s ears. "You’re thinking too far ahead."

Yin Mei burst into laughter. "Alright, alright, so your Sister was getting ahead of herself. Then it’s settled. You escort Wanwan. I’ll go prepare some things for you both."

"Okay. I’ll bring Wanwan back with me in the future."

"Good. I’ll always be here waiting for you."

After talking with his Sister, Yin Ze felt as if a weight had been lifted from his heart. Once the decision was made, he no longer hesitated. He strode out on his long legs to find Bai Wanwan.

When he found her, she was talking with several males.

The males looked as if they wished they could glue themselves to her. With a dark expression, Yin Ze strode forward and pulled Bai Wanwan behind him.

The males were initially a bit annoyed, but after seeing it was the Orange Rank male, Yin Ze, they all piped down. Not daring to say another word, they immediately turned and left.

"Hey, wait, you weren’t finished talking..."

Yin Ze grabbed the hand she had raised and pulled it down. "What do you need to ask? You can ask me."

Bai Wanwan’s lips moved hesitantly. ’We have to part sooner or later anyway,’ she thought, so she just said it directly. "Fine. I wanted to ask them when the caravan is coming. I want to leave with it when it arrives."

"No need to ask." Yin Ze looked at her face, suddenly feeling the urge to tease her. "You’re just going to leave like that? Aren’t you going to thank us for saving you?"

Bai Wanwan sighed. "I have nothing right now. In the future... once I’ve found my past, I’ll come back and repay you."

Even Bai Wanwan felt a little embarrassed making such an empty promise.

"Then why not repay me now?"

Yin Ze suddenly leaned in and pulled her into his arms.

In the twilight, his emerald eyes glinted with a dark light, and his handsome profile was edged in gold by the bonfire. Bai Wanwan was momentarily dazed and forgot to struggle.

But her reason quickly returned. ’I’m not staying here. Nothing can come of things between me and Yin Ze, so the best thing to do is make a clean break.’

Just then, a Beastman passed by. After Bai Wanwan pushed him away, Yin Ze looked resigned but didn’t press the matter.

"It’s late. Let’s go back."

"I still want to ask about the caravan."

Yin Ze pulled her by the hand, leading her back. "There’s no need to ask. Someone will escort you out."

Yin Ze’s words put Bai Wanwan at ease, but she couldn’t stop asking, "Who? Is a Beastman from the tribe leaving?"

Yin Ze’s eyes flickered. "Mhm."

"Who is it? When can I leave?"

Bai Wanwan’s eyes sparkled as she clutched his hand, looking as if she wished she could leave that very instant.

Yin Ze felt a little sour. ’After all these days together, is she really this impatient to leave?’

"Tomorrow. You’ll find out who soon enough."

After saying that, Yin Ze offered no other explanation. When they got home, he didn’t say another word to her.

That night, Bai Wanwan lay awake for a long time before falling asleep.

’But all good things must come to an end. Parting is inevitable.’

She tried to console herself with this thought, but when she woke up the next day, she still had two huge dark circles under her eyes.

"What’s this? Didn’t you sleep well?" Yin Mei noticed at a glance and pulled her over to ask.

Bai Wanwan mumbled an "Mhm." "It was probably a little hot. I didn’t sleep well."

Yin Mei didn’t call her out on it, instead shooting a reproachful glare at Yin Ze, who was standing nearby.

Then she turned back to Bai Wanwan and said, "Didn’t Yin Ze tell you?"

Bai Wanwan was distracted but still responded, "He did. He said a Beastman would escort me out today. Sister Yin Mei, when I’m gone, you have to take good care of yourself. If I get the chance, I’ll come back to see you."

She opened her arms and hugged Yin Mei.

Yin Mei hugged her back, gently patting her on the back. "Okay. I’ll wait for you all to come back and see me."

"Us?" Bai Wanwan raised an eyebrow in confusion. ’Is Sister Yin Mei talking about the Beastman who’s escorting me?’

"Yin Ze. He’s taking you personally. That rascal, he didn’t tell you and let you worry for nothing."

Hearing Yin Mei’s words, Bai Wanwan whipped her head around, her gaze landing on Yin Ze beside them.

He deliberately avoided looking up at her, seeming a bit uncomfortable.

"Is what Sister Yin Mei said true?"

Yin Ze had planned to tell her today anyway. He finally nodded in response. "Mhm. I’m going with you, to keep you from being tricked by other bad Beastmen."

Bai Wanwan’s lips curved into a smile. "Yin Ze, thank you!"

"Why thank him? It’s what he ought to do," Yin Mei responded with a grin.

After they finished eating, Yin Ze shouldered a bundle and, with Bai Wanwan by his side, they slowly walked out of the Peacock Tribe’s gate as Yin Mei watched them go.
