Delicate Villainess, Desperate Males – A Beast World Reverse Harem
Chapter 372: How Much Longer Are You Going to Pretend?
Chapter 372: Chapter 372: How Much Longer Are You Going to Pretend?
Her eyelids fluttered and then slowly opened...
Her vision was filled with a stark white, which then rearranged itself like shifting mosaic tiles.
She could finally see everything clearly.
’This... Is this a hospital room?’
She tried to move, but her body was so weak that even lifting a single finger felt like an impossible task.
"Wanwan?"
A familiar male voice pulled her back to reality. She saw a handsome face, magnified and close.
He looked vaguely familiar, but she couldn’t remember where she had seen him before.
The man had a five-o’clock shadow, and he looked haggard.
His bloodshot eyes were fixed on her. "Wanwan, hang in there. I’ll go get a doctor right now."
But Bai Wanwan felt her consciousness slipping away. She was so sleepy, her eyelids growing heavier and heavier.
When the man turned back, he saw Bai Wanwan slowly closing her eyes.
He rushed over and gripped her hand tightly. "Wanwan, you can’t sleep... I still have so much to explain to you. What you saw isn’t real. Please, give me a chance. Let me explain, okay?"
’No...’
’I don’t even know him, and I’m so sleepy.’
"Wanwan... Wanwan..."
Amidst the repeated calls of her name, Bai Wanwan sank back into darkness.
This time, many images flashed through her mind.
There was Xin Feng, catching fish and shrimp with her in a clear lake. There was Zhu Xiu, his long tail wrapped around her as he carried her across a vast, snowy plain.
There were the Eagle Beast attacks, where her Beast Husbands formed a solid wall with their own bodies to shield her from harm.
And during the beast tide, Yan Lie willingly plunged into a ravine to save her...
The fragmented scenes played in her mind like a movie.
Meanwhile, after she fell unconscious, several males had kept vigil by her bedside for a full day and night.
"This can’t go on. I have to get the Tiger Clan’s Clan Witch to come take a look at Wanwan." Yan Lie stood up, ready to go find her.
"You’ll only cause more trouble if you go. The scent of cubs is all over this place. Chou Rong doesn’t want the Tiger Clan Beastmen to know they exist, which means there must be a powerful enemy who would harm them."
Yan Lie stopped in his tracks. "So what? We do nothing and just wait?"
Jin Yi looked back at him. "Let’s wait a little longer. Wanwan’s breathing is steady, her complexion is rosy, and she mutters our names from time to time."
After pacing around the room, Yan Lie gritted his teeth and said, "Fine. We wait half a day. If Wanwan still isn’t awake by then, I’m going to kidnap the Tiger Clan’s Clan Witch. Worst case, after she checks on Wanwan, I’ll secretly send her off to another tribe."
Everyone else suppressed their own anxiety.
Unable to squeeze in next to Wanwan, Yin Ze sat on a stone stool not far from her.
His gaze never left her, watching for any sign of movement.
This continued until nightfall, but Bai Wanwan still hadn’t woken up.
"I’ve already waited another half-day and Wanwan still isn’t awake! I’m going to kidnap the Tiger Clan’s Clan Witch!"
"Alright. Be careful. Don’t let any other Beastmen see you," Zhu Xiu warned.
With Zhu Xiu’s support, Yan Lie was eager to rush off and drag the Clan Witch back immediately.
But just as he stood up, his robe felt like it had been snagged on something.
He tugged at it, and when he turned around, he saw Wanwan’s eyelashes flutter.
"Wanwan?"
He crouched down in excitement, gripping her shoulders from the bedside. "Wanwan, you’re awake, right?"
All the males had been watching her every move, so the moment Bai Wanwan’s eyelashes twitched, everyone noticed.
Five tall males crowded around the stone bed, blocking it off so completely that it was impassable.
The moment Bai Wanwan opened her eyes, she was hit with the full force of five handsome faces.
She was a bit dazed, matching each face to her memories.
"Zhu Xiu..."
A rare smile appeared in Zhu Xiu’s normally cold and fierce eyes. "Yes, I’m here."
Bai Wanwan managed a smile in return, her gaze shifting slowly until it landed on Xin Feng’s face.
Seeing that she had called him by his name correctly, Xin Feng nodded gently. "You remember now?"
"Mhm, I’ve recalled some scenes, but they’re all fragmented and incomplete."
Yan Lie immediately leaned in. "What about me?"
Bai Wanwan’s gaze fell upon his face, and she smiled weakly. "You fell off a cliff for me. How could I not remember? Yan Lie!"
Yan Lie grinned, revealing a row of perfectly straight, snow-white teeth in a dazzlingly brilliant smile.
Jin Yi didn’t say a word, but joy was clearly overflowing from his reddened eyes.
"Jin Yi, come here."
"Mhm."
Though reluctant, Yan Lie still made a little room for Jin Yi to get closer.
Bai Wanwan lifted her other hand.
He grasped it when it was only halfway up.
"I remember now. I said I would give you a happy home."
Jin Yi pressed his lips together. "Mhm. As long as you remember."
While the atmosphere here was warm and joyful, Yin Ze, standing in the corner, looked somewhat desolate.
Even the smile on his lips seemed bitter.
She shared so much history with the other males. From their conversations, he knew Wanwan had borne cubs for each of them.
Only he... had taken advantage of her amnesia to enter her life.
’Now that Wanwan’s memory is back, will she still agree to be with me?’
His heart was in his throat, and for a selfish moment, he thought...
’If only Wanwan hadn’t remembered them back in the Peacock Tribe, he and she could have lived there happily ever after...’
The Beast Husbands chatted with Bai Wanwan for a while, but seeing she was getting tired, one of them spoke up. "Wanwan, who do you want to stay with you tonight? One of us will stay, and the rest will go rest in other rooms."
This was a classic no-win question. Bai Wanwan had learned her lesson and refused to answer.
She simply rolled over, clutching the animal pelt. "I’m so sleepy..."
The Beast Husbands stared at her back, not knowing whether to laugh or be exasperated.
Yin Ze silently turned and left the room.
He tilted his head back, looking at the enormous full moon in the pitch-black night sky.
’If I hadn’t fallen for Wanwan, I could just turn my back and walk away without a second thought.’
’But now... can I let her go?’
Back in the room, none of the Beast Husbands were willing to yield. In the end, they tacitly agreed to take turns based on the order in which they had met Wanwan.
Everyone finally agreed. Xin Feng stayed behind while the other three males left the room, looking back with every step.
Bai Wanwan soon felt someone sit down on the edge of the stone bed.
"How long are you going to keep pretending? They’re all gone."
Bai Wanwan rolled over gently, opened her eyes, and gave him a playful grin. "I couldn’t choose. No matter who I picked, the others would have been upset. It’s better to let you guys decide things like this yourselves."
"Mhm, I know."
Xin Feng was dressed in a snow-white robe, looking gentle and refined as jade.
Just looking at him was calming.
She threw herself into his arms, burying her head in the crook of his neck. "Xin Feng, I missed you so much."
Her soft, sweet voice felt like a fierce tug on Xin Feng’s heartstrings.
All the anxiety from the past few days melted away.
He wrapped his arms around her, holding her gently.
"We missed you so much, too. Thank goodness... you’re alive."
Seeing the state Zhu Xiu, Yan Lie, and the others were in before...
He was certain that if they had found out Wanwan was gone for good, they would have likely ended their own lives.
And he... would have done the same.
A world without Wanwan held no meaning for him.
