Delicate Villainess, Desperate Males – A Beast World Reverse Harem
Chapter 384: You’re Lying
Chapter 384: Chapter 384: You’re Lying
"Hasn’t he told you?" Bai Wanwan asked casually, not quite ready to trust her completely.
The Chi Yu Holy Female shot her son a glare and huffed, "Why would he tell me? I didn’t even know about this until today."
Just as she was speaking, a few cubs ran to her feet.
Her attention was immediately captured by the cubs. "Oh my goodness, Chou Rong, are these your cubs? They look just like you when you were little!"
The Chi Yu Holy Female’s eyes welled up. She had thought she would never see Chou Rong find a mate and have cubs, yet today had brought her one surprise after another.
’That little rascal, hiding this from me for so long and letting me worry for nothing.’
The Chi Yu Holy Female hugged one, then the next, unable to get enough of them.
When she realized she had been neglecting Bai Wanwan, she immediately pulled her down to sit, a cub still in her arms.
"Wanwan... I have to thank you," she said. She was already exceptionally beautiful, and when her gentle gaze fell upon someone, even Bai Wanwan found it a bit overwhelming.
’It was clear she was a very happy female, well-protected by her Beast Husband and cubs.’
’Her eyes even held a purity and innocence that belied her age.’
"Thank you for giving Chou Rong a home and for bearing him so many adorable cubs."
This approach was so different from what Bai Wanwan had braced herself for that she was truly at a loss.
If she had been like Jin Yi’s Mother, Bai Wanwan could have just unleashed a verbal barrage right back at her.
But with such a gentle mother-in-law, she honestly didn’t know how to act.
After all, she had never formally met any parents before, much less been a daughter-in-law.
The role was completely new to her.
"If Chou Rong ever bullies you, just have your other Beast Husbands beat him. Beat him until he behaves."
Chou Rong, who was sitting not far from them, heard this and let out an exasperated laugh.
Seeing his expression, Bai Wanwan couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
"Alright. If he dares to treat me poorly, I’ll deal with him myself."
"Exactly! We females need to show the authority of the head of the house. That rascal has a bad temper and needs to be taught a lesson."
Chi Yu said, holding Bai Wanwan’s hand, looking more and more pleased the longer she gazed at her.
’She had never seen a female more beautiful than Wanwan.’
’So beautiful. Just looking at her was enough to lift anyone’s spirits.’
’No wonder her son, who kept his distance from females, had been won over by her.’
"Are you hungry? I’ve prepared some food. Eat first, and we can talk more after."
A short while later, Beastmen began bringing all sorts of delicacies to the table.
Bai Wanwan stared at the table laden with food. ’As expected of a Super Tribe,’ she thought. ’In all my time in this world, I’ve never seen so many different ingredients in one place.’
"Chou Rong told me you like cooked food, so everything today is roasted. Have a taste and see if you like it. If you do, I’ll bring you some when I visit."
Bai Wanwan was surprised. ’I didn’t realize Chou Rong knew I liked cooked food.’
She picked up a piece of snow-white, glistening meat that Chi Yu had placed on her plate and put it in her mouth.
Though it was meat, it melted in her mouth, leaving a fragrant aftertaste.
Even a picky eater like Bai Wanwan had to admit it was the most delicious thing she had eaten since coming to the Beast World.
"You like it?" Chi Yu smiled. "It’s Snowbird meat. My Beast Husband hunted it a few days ago. There’s half of it left. Take it with you when you leave and have Chou Rong cook it for you."
Throughout the meal, Chi Yu kept piling food onto her plate, watching her eat with a broad, happy smile.
This actually made Bai Wanwan feel a little awkward. The kinder people were to her, the more she felt at a loss.
When the meal was over, Chi Yu’s enthusiasm hadn’t faded one bit.
Giving her a mountain of food wasn’t enough.
Next, she began sizing her up, gesturing at her body and then her head.
"Your clothes are lovely, and so are your hair ornaments. I have many more things here that would suit you. Wait, I’ll get them for you, and you can take them all home."
Before long, two chests filled with clothes and all kinds of accessories were placed beside Bai Wanwan.
Bai Wanwan shot Chou Rong a pleading look for what felt like the fifth time.
Chou Rong had been watching with a calm, unhurried smile, but this time, he finally seemed to register her cry for help.
He stood and walked over to them. "Mother, the cubs are getting sleepy. Wanwan and I will take them home for now. We’ll come see you again soon."
Bai Wanwan let out a long sigh of relief, quickly getting to her feet and smiling at Chi Yu.
Chi Yu clung to Bai Wanwan’s hand, reluctant to let go. "Wanwan, if you’re ever free, please come visit me. We can sit and chat."
Only after Bai Wanwan agreed did she walk them to the door with a smile.
Even after they had walked a good distance away, Bai Wanwan could look back and still see her standing there, watching them go.
"Your Mother is so enthusiastic. It was a little overwhelming."
A faint smile touched Chou Rong’s lips. "It looked like you two were getting along just fine."
"She’s your Mother. It’s called being polite and respectful."
"Even though my Mother is a Holy Female, she never had a daughter. She probably sees you as her own."
’No wonder...’
As they were talking, the tiger cub trotting ahead of them suddenly bounded forward, covering a good distance in an instant.
Bai Wanwan was about to call out to him when she saw him stop near a group of young cubs.
’Oh, he saw his friends.’
"Qiu Guang, what are you doing out? Your Father Beast isn’t keeping you locked up anymore?"
"Yeah! I can come out and play whenever I want now."
Bai Wanwan had promised them they would be able to go out and play freely.
"You’re just lying to us, aren’t you?"
"Yeah, we’ve never even seen your Father Beast. Do you even have one?"
The cubs were just being naively blunt, probably without any real malice, but their words were still hurtful.
"Of course I have a Father Beast!"
He had said those words before, but never with any conviction.
Today, his voice was loud and clear, and his heart pounded with excitement.
"Who’s your Father Beast? We’ve never seen him."
Qiu Guang turned, lifted a paw, and pointed toward Chou Rong. "See him? He’s my Father Beast, and the female beside him is my Mother."
The cubs all turned to look, and when they saw the faces of Chou Rong and Bai Wanwan,
shock was written all over their little beast faces.
"Qiu Guang, you’re a liar! We’re not playing with you anymore!" a little female cub huffed, turning her back on him.
"I’m not lying! He is my Father Beast!"
"He’s obviously the Young Clan Leader. I’ve seen him once before, and my Mother said the Young Clan Leader isn’t even mated. How could he be your Father Beast? You’re just a liar!"
Bai Wanwan, who had just walked up, heard every word the little female cub said.
Qiu Guang was so anxious he was practically squirming, his little mind not knowing how to prove he was telling the truth.
Just then, Bai Wanwan walked over, crouched down beside Qiu Guang, and wrapped him in an affectionate hug, giving him a kiss.
"Sweetheart, why don’t you introduce your friends to your Mother?"
Bai Wanwan was already stunningly beautiful, and she intentionally softened her voice, making her as warm and inviting as a preschool teacher.
Qiu Guang squirmed, his aggrieved, tigerish eyes welling with tears. "Mother, they don’t believe I have a Mother, and they don’t believe Father Beast is my Father Beast."
A pang of guilt hit Bai Wanwan’s heart. ’This is all my fault!’
