Delicate Villainess, Desperate Males – A Beast World Reverse Harem
Chapter 481 - 478: They’re All Coming For Her
Chapter 481: Chapter 478: They’re All Coming For Her
Hua Han was a schemer himself, so he naturally assumed this male had taken a liking to Wanwan and was deliberately doing these things to get her attention.
’Hmph, these tricks couldn’t possibly escape my notice!’
Jinying clearly didn’t want to explain, and besides, he couldn’t.
Even he didn’t know what was going on.
His memory was perfectly clear. He remembered how, as if he’d lost his mind, he’d come to this treehouse in the middle of the night, placed all his precious treasures on the table, and even stood there watching Bai Wanwan for a long time...
’Just thinking about it makes me feel ashamed.’
He said no more. Striding forward, he began to stiffly and swiftly gather the gleaming treasures from the table.
He didn’t once look at Bai Wanwan during the entire process.
Bai Wanwan stood within the protective circle of her Beast Husbands, her gaze fixed on Jinying’s back as he collected his things and then quickly turned to leave.
She furrowed her lovely brow.
Even with her quick mind, she couldn’t understand what Jinying was up to.
Her Beast Husbands exchanged glances, their expressions a mixture of emotions.
Yan Lie scratched his head, a look of bewilderment on his face. "What... what’s his game?"
Jin Yi stared at his departing back, lost in thought.
Xin Feng, however, spoke up. "We’re in danger right now. Everyone needs to be more vigilant. It’s a good thing he didn’t do anything to harm Wanwan last night."
Yin Ze was frustrated with himself. "I’m sorry, it’s my fault. I was on watch outside last night and didn’t even notice him."
Xin Feng shook his head. "He was born with a Red Rank Talent. You only just advanced in rank, so it would have been easy for him to avoid you."
That being said, the Beast Husbands were all determined to be more vigilant.
Hua Han stroked his chin. "He’s deliberately pulling these stunts. He probably wants to get close to Wanwan."
A chill went through the Beast Husbands. If that was the case, they couldn’t afford to be careless. ’Wanwan already has enough Beast Husbands...’
Jinying had retrieved his "treasures," but his eyes were filled with an unprecedented mix of confusion and alarm.
He was well aware that while doing all this, he had been driven by some irresistible impulse. His consciousness had been hazy, but his body had faithfully carried out the absurd commands!
He knew one thing for certain: everything had started going wrong the moment he met the female named Bai Wanwan.
***
Two days passed peacefully after the strange incident.
Afternoon sunlight filtered through giant, broad leaves, dappling the clearing in front of the treehouse.
Bai Wanwan sat cross-legged, a piece of beast hide—treated to be exceptionally soft and shimmering with a pearly luster—spread across her lap.
She watched with a mix of concentration and envy as the Shuang Hua Saintess’s slender yet strong fingers guided an immaculately polished Bone Needle. The needle darted with intense focus along the edge of the hide, stitching the hem of a skirt.
Each push of the needle through the hide was accompanied by a faint sound, the stitches tight and even.
"Wanwan, if you sew like this, it’ll be both sturdy and beautiful."
A line of tight stitches grew under her hands, outlining an intricate pattern.
"Aunt Shuang, you’re amazing. When I sew, it comes out as a jumbled mess," Bai Wanwan said, feeling inadequate in comparison.
’The only other person I know who’s this good with their hands is my dear sister, Shi Hua. Once all this is over, I’ll take my Beast Husbands back to visit and see how she’s doing.’
The two chatted quietly, their conversation punctuated by the chirping of birds from the surrounding forest.
Suddenly, the sound of rapid, heavy footsteps shattered the tranquility.
A burly male burst into the clearing.
His breathing was slightly rushed. His sharp gaze swept over the two women, finally settling on Shuang Hua. He placed his right fist over his left chest, performing a simple tribal salute.
"Shuang Hua Saintess, the Clan Leader has given an order. Please come to a meeting immediately." His gaze then shifted to Bai Wanwan. "And this... outsider female, please come as well."
Shuang Hua’s brow knitted slightly, and she set down her Bone Needle. She instinctively shifted her body to subtly shield Bai Wanwan behind her, her voice cool. "Did the Clan Leader say what this is about?"
The Beastman’s gaze flickered. "There have been some... disturbances within the tribe lately," he explained. "The Clan Leader wishes to ask the new female some questions. There is no other motive. It’s just a routine inquiry. If the two of you would please follow me..."
Almost at the same time, Bai Wanwan’s Beast Husbands gathered around her, forming a solid wall of protection.
Jin Yi stared at the messenger and said in a deep voice, "We’re coming with you."
"The Clan Leader only summoned the two females," the Flood Dragon Male refused stiffly, his muscles tensing, clearly prepared for a conflict. "Other Beastmen are not to accompany them."
"If we can’t accompany her, then our female isn’t going with you," Xin Feng said, his gentle eyes filled with unwavering resolve.
The atmosphere suddenly grew tense.
Bai Wanwan remained silent. The Flood Dragon Tribe might have its rules, but her safety had to come first.
If they didn’t agree, she wouldn’t go.
"Since you don’t agree, then Aunt Shuang and I won’t go. If your Clan Leader wants to see me, he can come himself."
Shuang Hua glanced at Bai Wanwan and saw her give a subtle blink. She said nothing more, making it clear they were a united front.
The Beastman obviously hadn’t expected Bai Wanwan to be so unyielding.
His expression wavered as his gaze darted between the two females and the intimidating group of males.
After a tense standoff that lasted several breaths, he finally gritted his teeth in resignation. "Fine, you can come. But only two males at most."
Knowing when to quit while she was ahead, Bai Wanwan glanced at Jin Yi and Yin Ze.
The two men understood immediately. Though Hua Han, Xin Feng, and Yan Lie looked worried, they said nothing more.
"Let’s go."
After Bai Wanwan spoke, she helped the Shuang Hua Saintess to her feet and followed behind the messenger Beastman.
Jin Yi and Yin Ze flanked her, one on her left and one on her right, sticking close behind like her most loyal guards.
Led by the Flood Dragon Male, the group walked a long way, slowly leaving the tribe’s settlement and heading toward the outskirts.
The path underfoot grew narrower and narrower. The dense primeval jungle gradually blocked out the sun, the air became damp and cold, and the only sounds were the rustling of wind through the leaves and their own footsteps on dry branches and fallen leaves.
The further Shuang Hua walked, the more her brow furrowed. She couldn’t help but stop. "Wait! Why would the Clan Leader meet us in a place like this?"
The Flood Dragon Male stopped short. He turned his head slowly. "It seems you’ve figured it out."
The words had barely left his mouth when he waved his hand. "Get them!"
Instantly, like phantoms, seven or eight Beastmen leaped from the dense bushes on either side and the gnarled branches overhead.
Their movements were lightning-fast and their eyes were vicious. Their target was crystal clear.
All the attacks, whistling sharply as they tore through the air, rained down on Bai Wanwan, who was protected in the center.
Bai Wanwan understood one thing instantly: ’These Beastmen are all coming for me!’
"Wanwan!"
Shuang Hua cried out in alarm and, without a second thought, instinctively lunged to push her away.
