Chapter 483: Chapter 480: What a Lively Scene

The surroundings fell deathly silent.

A moment later, Bai Wanwan’s calm and steady voice broke the silence. "Kill them."

"But you clearly said you wouldn’t kill..."

If not for the fact that her companions were stronger, she would have already been killed by these Chameleons.

Furthermore, if she hadn’t been transmigrated here and bound to a system, the original owner of this body would have been trapped in the Female Cave for life, used as an outlet for those old and crippled males.

’So on what grounds should she forgive these perpetrators on the original owner’s behalf?’

SCHLICK!

CRACK!

The moment the words left her mouth, Jin Yi and Yin Ze finished off the remaining Beastmen.

They lost their lives before they could even scream.

The smell of blood filled the dense forest.

Standing nearby, Shuang Hua’s face was pale. She was clearly stunned speechless by the successive shocks and the bloody scene.

She looked at Bai Wanwan in disbelief. "Wan... Wanwan? Are... are you really Clan Leader Jiao Yuan’s daughter?"

Seeing the shock and concern in Shuang Hua’s eyes, Bai Wanwan felt a pang of guilt.

She walked over and gently steadied Shuang Hua’s somewhat cold arm, saying in a low voice, "Aunt Shuang, I... I’m not one hundred percent certain myself. I just gradually pieced it together from some clues after arriving here."

She paused, then said sincerely, "I’m sorry, Aunt Shuang, for hiding this from you all this time."

Shuang Hua was stunned for a long moment before she took a deep breath, trying to process the earth-shattering news.

She gripped Bai Wanwan’s hand in return, her expression complex, finally letting out a sigh. "Aunt Shuang doesn’t blame you... It’s just so unexpected, so sudden. I... I never thought that Coral... that she isn’t Jiao Yuan’s daughter, but you are..."

Then, her dim eyes suddenly lit up with astonishing brilliance, as if grasping at a lifeline. She looked at Bai Wanwan eagerly. "If you’re Jiao Yuan’s daughter, the true bloodline of our Flood Dragon Clan, then doesn’t that mean the Life Tree can be saved?"

Feeling the strength of Shuang Hua’s grip and the hope in her eyes, Bai Wanwan nodded solemnly. "If I can reawaken the Life Tree, I will definitely help."

"But not now," she said, turning her gaze to Jinying, who had been standing silently nearby. "Jinying, I need you to keep this a secret for me. Let me be the one to reveal the truth."

Jinying’s gaze fell on Bai Wanwan’s face, almost greedy, and didn’t waver for an instant.

It churned with intense emotions that Bai Wanwan couldn’t comprehend.

But when she looked closer, those emotions vanished like a gust of wind.

Hearing Bai Wanwan’s request, Jinying nodded almost subconsciously. "Okay."

As he spoke, his eyes remained fixed on her.

Noticing this, Jin Yi and Yin Ze subtly stepped in front of Bai Wanwan, blocking Jinying’s gaze.

Jinying’s head snapped up, and he looked at the two tall males in front of her.

The corners of his mouth twitched, forming a cold smile.

Meanwhile, deep within the Flood Dragon Tribe’s territory, the atmosphere was just as heavy and oppressive.

"Every time she tries, Coral has to come back and lie in bed for half a month, weaker than the last. How many more times can her body take this?" Lan Yi grabbed Jiao Yuan’s arm, her beautiful face stained with tears. "Are you going to watch your only daughter die? Jiao Yuan!"

Jiao Yuan squeezed his eyes shut, his thick brows knitted tightly, his face etched with exhaustion and conflict. "Coral is my daughter! Don’t you think my heart aches for her? But Lan Yi, look at the Life Tree! Its light is growing dimmer and dimmer! If we can’t awaken it, our entire Flood Dragon Clan... we’ll be completely wiped out before long. Do you understand?"

His voice was low and pained, weighed down by the inescapable burden of a clan leader.

"Wiped out? How could we be wiped out! Other clans live just fine without a Life Tree. There must be another way! In any case, you are not taking Coral again!" Lan Yi blocked him obsessively, like a mother beast protecting her cub, shielding Coral with her body.

"Mother, I’m fine. I am Father Beast’s only daughter. It’s my responsibility to try and awaken the Life Tree."

Jiao Yuan’s eyes also filled with helplessness and heartache. "I... I’ll think of something else. Coral, you stay here and take care of your Mother."

With that, he turned and strode away.

「That night.」

While Lan Yi was fast asleep, Jiao Yuan knocked on the door to Coral’s quarters.

"Father Beast?" Coral opened the door and saw the solemn expression on her father’s face. Understanding dawned on her.

There was no surprise on her face, only a calm resolve.

"I’m ready, Father Beast. For the tribe, I’m willing to try one more time."

Her voice was soft, yet it carried an unshakeable determination.

She knew her body might not be able to take it, but as the Clan Leader’s daughter, she had no other choice.

Jiao Yuan looked at her pale but resolute face, his heart aching. But what he felt more strongly was the responsibility of a clan leader.

He gave a silent nod and turned first, leading his daughter silently toward the tribe’s forbidden grounds.

Jinying had been waiting for a long time. When he saw the two of them, his feelings were incredibly complicated.

’The scene of Bai Wanwan interrogating the Chameleon Beastman was still vivid in his mind. He didn’t know why he had such an uncontrollable urge to get closer to that female, as if something deep within his soul was roaring and pulling him toward her.’

’Every time he came to his senses, he felt bewildered and even frightened by this intense, unfamiliar emotion. Yet the complex throbbing that remained in his heart was like a maggot gnawing at his bones, constantly affecting him.’

He forcefully suppressed the turmoil in his heart, his gaze turning calm as he looked in Uncle Yuan’s direction.

At that moment, Coral was walking step by step toward the massive, ancient tree, which emitted a faint light that couldn’t conceal its aura of decay...

Jiao Yuan stood not far away, his fists clenched, his eyes filled with hope and tension.

Jinying’s lips moved, wanting to stop them.

However, Bai Wanwan’s words echoed in his ears. He had promised her to keep the secret and let her be the one to reveal it.

Pressing his lips together, he ultimately chose to swallow his words.

In the valley, Coral’s eyes were shut tight, fine beads of sweat forming on her forehead. A faint, soft glow began to emanate from her body as she struggled to communicate with and call upon the dormant origin power of the Life Tree.

Jiao Yuan clenched his fists, ready to rescue his daughter at a moment’s notice.

Just at that critical moment,

"Stop!"

A female’s voice shattered the tense atmosphere of the forbidden grounds.

Lan Yi charged recklessly toward Coral at the center of the altar.

She threw her arms wide, hugged Coral tightly, and cried out to Jiao Yuan:

"Stop! Jiao Yuan, you bastard, you’re going to kill your only daughter!"

’She knew better than anyone that Coral wasn’t Jiao Yuan’s daughter; trying again and again was useless.’

’The daughter she had given birth to was fated to be separated from her, and she didn’t know if she would ever see her again in this lifetime.’

’But Coral was the daughter she had raised with her own hands. She couldn’t just stand by and watch her suffer the backlash from these repeated attempts.’

"Lan Yi, listen to me. Leave for now." Jiao Yuan tried to persuade her, but Lan Yi wouldn’t listen at all, starting a scene with him right there in the forbidden grounds.

Just then, Bai Wanwan’s voice drifted over. "How lively. It looks like I’ve arrived just in time."
