Chapter 550: Chapter 547: Are You Sure?

Bai Wanwan’s expression darkened. Her voice was quiet, but it held an undeniable chill. "Yin Ze, separate them. If anyone makes another move, throw them out of the tribe to cool off!"

Yin Ze was gentle by nature and had been raised to protect females. He had never imagined laying a hand on one.

But he didn’t want to disobey Wanwan’s command. After only a moment’s hesitation, he stepped forward.

He was agile, his strength perfectly controlled. He quickly and forcefully separated the two who were clawing at each other, pulling them apart.

The two females, forced apart, were stunned for a moment before their rage intensified. The one named Bai Zhi, a female of the Tiger Clan, glared at Bai Wanwan and shrieked, "Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to throw us out?"

Bai Wanwan’s calm gaze swept over her. Her tone was indifferent, yet it carried an unseen pressure. "On the authority of my Beast Husband, who is a Red Rank powerhouse. I can deal with anyone who makes trouble here and disturbs the tribe’s peace."

In the Beast World, strength commanded respect. If you couldn’t be convinced, you could be beaten into submission.

The two words "Red Rank" landed like a heavy hammer, instantly extinguishing the females’ arrogant fire.

They glared at Bai Wanwan, seething with unspoken anger. Their chests heaved, but ultimately, they didn’t dare make another move.

Bai Wanwan looked away from them, turning to the crowd of onlooking Beastmen. Her voice softened slightly. "What exactly happened here? Did anyone get a clear look?"

Most of the Tiger Clan Beastmen recognized Bai Wanwan. They knew she was the Clan Leader’s treasured Holy Female mate, and several eager Beastmen immediately started talking all at once:

"Holy Female Bai Wanwan, here’s what happened! A Deer Beast from the female Qian Hong’s household, one they had just prepared and hung up to dry yesterday, went missing. She searched all over and saw that the female Bai Zhi’s household happened to have a new Deer Beast today, so she assumed Bai Zhi had stolen it!"

Hearing the onlooker’s form of address, the female named Bai Zhi finally realized this was the Clan Leader’s Wife. Her attitude immediately became much more respectful.

She didn’t dare yell at Bai Wanwan, so she turned and cursed at Qian Hong instead. "You’re just an outsider female who came to us for shelter! The Tiger Clan Tribe is already being generous just by taking you in. How ungrateful! And now you dare slander me, accusing me of stealing your Deer Beast? For all we know, you didn’t store it properly and a wild animal dragged it off!"

Bai Wanwan looked toward the female named Qian Hong. She appeared a bit younger, and right now her eyes were rimmed with red. She was trembling from a mixture of anger and indignation.

When she heard Bai Zhi, Qian Hong snapped her head up. Tears welled in her eyes, but her choked voice was fiercely defiant. "That’s right, I’m an outsider! But my fertility isn’t low! I genuinely wanted to join the Tiger Clan Tribe and build a good life here! What gives you the right to bully me? What gives you the right to look down on me? Do all outsiders just deserve to be framed?"

Just then, Qian Hong’s two Beast Husbands heard the commotion and rushed back. They were both tall, powerfully built males. When they saw their female crying her heart out, saw the scratches on her face, and heard Bai Zhi’s xenophobic remarks...

They instantly assumed their female was being ganged up on by the Tiger Clan Beastmen. Their eyes grew fierce, and threatening growls rumbled from their throats as they moved to shield Qian Hong. The situation was about to escalate from a spat between females into a conflict between two families—or even two different clans!

"Quiet, all of you!"

Bai Wanwan’s clear voice rang out again, carrying a peculiar mix of soothing calm and authority. "Who says we in the Tiger Clan bully people just because they’re outsiders?"

Her gaze swept over all the Beastmen present before finally resting on Qian Hong’s face. She spoke, each word clear and deliberate, "I’m an outsider, too. I come from a distant land, a place you’ve probably never even heard of. By your logic, should I also be ostracized and bullied?"

Qian Hong was utterly stunned. Her tear-filled eyes went wide as she stared at Bai Wanwan in disbelief, stammering, "But... but I just heard the other Beastmen say... you’re the Clan Leader’s Wife... Your status is so noble. How could you be like me...?"

"Being the Clan Leader’s Wife is my current status, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m an ’outsider.’"

Bai Wanwan’s tone was gentle, yet it held an unquestionable resolve. "In my eyes, you are both simply females, and I knew neither of you before today. I will not play favorites based on who arrived in the tribe first or who is a native-born Beastman. I judge right and wrong based on facts alone. Qian Hong, if you want me to get you justice, then can you now calmly tell me the entire story from the beginning, in detail?"

Her gaze swept over the two disputing parties, her voice carrying clearly to every Beastman’s ears. "You two. One at a time. And tell me everything."

Seeing Bai Wanwan’s impartial attitude, Qian Hong felt as if she’d found a pillar of support. She sniffled, trying hard to compose herself, and began her account cooperatively.

"Okay, I’ll tell you. Yesterday evening, my Beast Husband went out of his way to hunt a very fresh Deer Beast for me. I helped him clean it, rub it with salt, and hang it in a breezy spot behind our home to air-dry. When I woke up this morning, the Deer Beast was gone! I looked all over, and then I saw a Deer Beast hanging in Bai Zhi’s yard. Its size, and even the knot in the vine it was tied with, were identical to mine! That’s why I suspected she’d taken it."

Her account was clear and orderly. She spoke at a steady pace without any hesitation or pauses, sounding highly credible.

After she finished, Bai Wanwan nodded and turned to Bai Zhi, whose expression had become somewhat unnatural. "Your turn. Tell me, where did your Deer Beast come from?"

Bai Zhi’s eyes darted away, avoiding Bai Wanwan’s gaze, but her tone was one of feigned indignation. "I... I didn’t even know her family had hunted a Deer Beast! This one was hunted by my Beast Husband, of course! Is her family the only one allowed to eat meat? Can’t mine?"

"Oh? Which of your Beast Husbands hunted it? Call him over to have a word," Bai Wanwan said, her tone still level.

Bai Zhi seemed unprepared for such a persistent line of questioning. A flicker of guilt crossed her face, but she jutted her chin out, attempting to deflect. "Holy Female Bai Wanwan, what are you implying? Are you accusing me of theft? And all for an outsider?"

"The item in question is in your possession. If you claim it’s yours, you naturally need evidence to prove it," Bai Wanwan said, her pace unhurried.

"Evidence?" The word was foreign to Bai Zhi, and most of the surrounding Beastmen looked just as confused.

Seeing his female being cornered, a Tiger Clan male standing beside Bai Zhi couldn’t bear to watch. He stepped forward to take the blame, saying in a gruff voice, "I hunted it! I got it yesterday afternoon!"

Bai Wanwan’s gaze shifted to him, the corner of her mouth curling into a smile that wasn’t quite a smile. "Are you sure? You killed it with your own hands?"

Her stare made the male’s skin crawl, but with everyone watching, he could only bite the bullet, press his lips together, and nod. "Yeah. I’m the one who hunted it!"
