Chapter 555: Chapter 552: Uninvited Guest

The female’s smile instantly froze on her face, her eyes filled with vigilance and caution. "Yin Ze, who are they?"

Yin Ze stopped, his attitude polite yet clearly distant. He reiterated, "Ah Lo, I’ve already made it very clear to you. The male you found is one of my Wife Bai Wanwan the Holy Female’s Beast Husbands. Now, my Wife has come personally to bring her Beast Husband home."

Hearing this, the female named Ah Lo immediately pressed her lips into a thin line.

As if she were a mother beast whose territory had been invaded, she abruptly threw her arms out to block the cave entrance. Her voice rose, filled with intense resistance and possessiveness. "I don’t care what your relationship was before, I found him! I saved him! When he was at his most vulnerable and didn’t recognize anyone, I was the one who took care of him. He is my Beast Husband now! He doesn’t remember you at all, and he won’t go with you!"

Bai Wanwan was frantic and in no mood to waste her breath on this female.

Seeing her block the way, she strode forward without hesitation, intending to force her way in.

"What do you think you’re doing?!" Seeing this, Ah Ya shrieked and charged over, trying to push Bai Wanwan away.

But before she could even touch the hem of Bai Wanwan’s clothes, a white shadow flashed past. Yan Lie had already inserted himself between the two with ghost-like speed. With a sweep of his strong arm, he easily blocked all of Ah Lo’s movements, his eyes cold. "Stay away from my Wife."

Taking advantage of the opening, Bai Wanwan quickly sidestepped, maneuvered deftly around Yan Lie, and ducked into the narrow, dark mountain cave.

The moment she entered, a strange smell—a mixture of damp earth, medicinal herbs, and other scents—assaulted her.

The light inside the cave was extremely dim, and Bai Wanwan’s eyes couldn’t adjust, leaving her unable to see anything clearly.

"Hua Han?" she called out tentatively, her voice echoing slightly in the cave.

No one answered from within, only dead silence.

Bai Wanwan stood her ground, blinking rapidly to help her eyes adapt to the darkness.

After a moment, her vision gradually cleared.

It was a small, natural cave. In a corner, some dry grass and animal hides were laid out.

And on that crude "bed," a figure was lying.

Even though the light was poor, even though the man looked much more haggard and thin, with sunken cheeks and pale lips...

Bai Wanwan recognized him with a single glance—it was Hua Han!

However, when her gaze met Hua Han’s eyes, her heart plummeted.

Those foxy eyes that had once looked at her with slyness, with deep affection, or with a mischievous grin, were now staring blankly and emptily in her direction.

They held none of their former spirit, none of their familiar warmth—only a strange, ripple-free void, as if he were looking at a complete and utter stranger.

Her heart felt as if it had been viciously stabbed, a sharp pain shooting through it.

Slowly, step by step, she walked to the bedside and knelt down, her voice becoming incredibly soft and gentle without her even realizing it.

"Hua Han... It’s me, Wanwan. Do you remember me?"

The male just looked at her, not responding.

Bai Wanwan’s heart sank to the depths. His vacant, unfamiliar gaze was like a cold needle, piercing through all her hopes.

Unwilling to give up, she moved a little closer, so close she could almost feel his faint breath, and called out softly again, "Hua Han? Look at me, I’m your mate. Don’t you remember anything at all?"

Lying on the pile of hay, Hua Han’s eyes remained unfocused, as if he were looking through her at the empty air.

He even turned his head away slightly, seeming a bit uncomfortable or confused by this strange female’s proximity, letting out an extremely faint, meaningless breathy sound from his throat.

Just then, the female named Ah Lo struggled fiercely. Unwilling to have much physical contact with her, Yan Lie actually let her break free from his hold, and she rushed into the cave.

Seeing Bai Wanwan practically pressed against Hua Han, she charged forward like an enraged mother beast, trying to shove her away. "Get away from him! Can’t you see he doesn’t know you? You’re scaring him!"

This time, before Yan Lie could act, Zhu Xiu had already stepped in front of Bai Wanwan.

His scarlet vertical pupils looked particularly intimidating in the dim light. He simply stared at Ah Lo, and the pressure of a top predator was enough to make Ah Ya freeze in place, her face paling. She didn’t dare take another step forward, able only to glare at Bai Wanwan’s back with resentment and fury.

Bai Wanwan paid no mind to the commotion behind her. Her entire focus was on Hua Han.

She took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.

’Amnesia? It’s fine. As long as he’s alive, there’s hope.’

She thought of the various Potions with different effects in her system.

She reached out and gently touched Hua Han’s forehead. "System, can you scan Hua Han for me? See if his brain is injured and hasn’t healed?"

"Of course, Host."

A moment later, the system spoke again. "Host, his brain shows no obvious injuries, only some Dark Energy. Host, your Beast Husband was likely affected by an Energy Stone."

Bai Wanwan’s brows furrowed, her fingers gently tracing Hua Han’s face. "Can you cure him?"

"I can, once you give birth to this child."

The blade hanging over Bai Wanwan’s heart vanished instantly.

She let out a long sigh of relief.

Then, at that exact moment, Hua Han seized her hand forcefully.

A muffled, resistant growl escaped his throat. Though weak, it was filled with vigilance and rejection.

"Don’t touch him!" Ah Ya shrieked from outside. "He doesn’t like strange Beastmen touching him!"

Bai Wanwan’s hand froze in mid-air.

Hua Han’s clear rejection felt like a dull knife cutting into her heart.

She slowly turned her head to look at Ah Lo. "You mean you can touch him? But no one else can?"

Ah Lo’s eyes flickered. "I can’t either, but that’s only temporary."

Bai Wanwan let out a soft laugh. "Since you can’t either, you can shut up."

After speaking, she ignored Hua Han, who had become agitated and sat up, trying to distance himself from her.

She extended a hand to him. "Hua Han, I’ve come to take you home. Do you want to come back with me?"

Her voice was incredibly gentle, carrying a soothing power.

Although Hua Han still didn’t move closer, the intense rejection in his eyes seemed to have faded somewhat, and for a fleeting moment, he even looked a little lost.

"Don’t be afraid. I won’t hurt you."

As she spoke, she slowly leaned in, inching closer to him.

Finally, her hand rested on the back of his.

Hua Han instinctively tried to pull away, but Bai Wanwan held on tight, even interlacing their fingers.

She smiled at him gently. "Does it hurt anywhere? You can tell me. I’ll blow on it and make the pain go away."

Hua Han looked at her, his expression slowly starting to calm.

Watching from the side, it was agonizing for Ah Lo. She had found him and cared for him for days, but he wouldn’t let her touch him or even get close to him...
