Delicate Villainess, Desperate Males – A Beast World Reverse Harem
Chapter 579 - 576: It’s Time to Go Back
Chapter 579: Chapter 576: It’s Time to Go Back
After a few more peaceful days in the Fox Clan’s territory, Xin Feng confirmed that they were, for the moment, untouched by the turmoil outside. He then walked over to Bai Wanwan, who was sitting by the window, basking in the sun and gently stroking her belly.
"Wanwan," he said, his voice gentle but tinged with a subtle worry. "Things in the Fox Clan seem stable for now, but we shouldn’t stay too long. Let’s leave for the Tiger Clan in a couple of days. I can’t rest easy with you giving birth out here."
Their territory had better facilities and was more secure—far safer than the Fox Clan’s.
Bai Wanwan nodded, but her gaze lingered on the Fox Clan cubs playing outside and the busy clanspeople. "Yes, we should go back," she mused. "But..."
"What is it?" Xin Feng keenly sensed the hesitation in her voice. He didn’t press her, simply taking her hand gently and waiting in silence.
Bai Wanwan was silent for a long moment before speaking again, her voice heavy. "Xin Feng, I can’t shake the feeling... that the situation outside is far more serious than we can see or imagine. That Dark Energy just hasn’t spread here yet. I have a bad premonition. If we do nothing, the Fox Clan... could become the next Leopard Clan. The Fox Clan excels at Illusion Techniques and agility, but their direct combat strength is relatively weak. I’m so worried that Hua Han will lose his family and his people..."
A thoughtful look flickered in Xin Feng’s eyes. He knew Wanwan’s fears were not unfounded.
"Then what are you planning to do?"
After a slight hesitation, Bai Wanwan boldly stated her idea. "I want to... try to persuade the Fox Clan to temporarily relocate their entire tribe near the Tiger Clan. With the two tribes looking out for each other, it would be safer."
Hearing this, Xin Feng’s brow furrowed slightly. "I’m afraid that will be very difficult. A clan’s sense of identity and territory is deeply ingrained. They would never decide to leave the land they’ve inhabited for generations unless they were truly desperate, with their homes already destroyed."
"I know it will be," Bai Wanwan agreed, fully aware of the potential resistance. "That’s why I want to wait for Hua Han to wake up. I’ll discuss it with him properly and have him present the suggestion to the Fox Clan’s Clan Leader. He’s a Beastman of the Fox Clan, after all. They’ll be more likely to listen to him."
She was doing all of this purely for Hua Han’s sake. Her affection for him extended to his people, and she didn’t want to see his home and family suffer a terrible fate.
But if the Fox Clan was truly unwilling, she couldn’t just forcibly drag them all away. She had neither the power nor the right to do so.
She was just doing what she could.
’I just need to focus on increasing my own strength and my Beast Husbands’. Once they all become Red Rank Powerhouses, and once I have enough Points to handle a crisis, we can make the Tiger Clan our base. Perhaps we can create a relatively safe zone to protect the Beastmen I care about.’
Just then, Zhu Xiu walked in from outside, happening to overhear the end of their conversation.
His dark eyes swept over Bai Wanwan’s thoughtful face. "Yes, you can have Hua Han try proposing it. But if they refuse, Wanwan, we must leave immediately. The situation outside is uncertain, and you’re about to give birth. We need to get back to the safety of the Tiger Clan as soon as possible."
"Alright." Bai Wanwan nodded in agreement. It was the most logical plan.
However, the wait for Hua Han to awaken this time felt exceptionally long.
Bai Wanwan patiently cared for Hua Han, washing him, changing him into clean clothes, and talking to him every day, even though he gave no response.
That night, as she gently wiped Hua Han’s hands and face with a damp cloth, she whispered, "Hua Han, we have to leave soon. There are so many things that need your decision."
The next day, Hua Han’s Mother, Hua Yu, came to visit. Seeing the son she was so proud of in such a state, Hua Yu couldn’t help sighing as her eyes reddened with tears.
Bai Wanwan had to offer some gentle words of comfort.
Hua Yu grasped Bai Wanwan’s hands, her expression a mixture of gratitude and heartache. "Wanwan, this Mother can see that you are truly good to Hua Han, that you dote on him and protect him. It makes my heart both happy and sad. This has all been so hard on you. If Hua Han ever does anything to displease you in the future, don’t hesitate to scold him—you can even hit him! But... please, never ignore him. That is this Mother’s only wish, that you and Hua Han will always be happy together..."
Bai Wanwan squeezed Hua Yu’s cool hand in return, her voice both firm and gentle. "Mother, don’t worry. We will always be happy together."
She paused for a moment, then took the opportunity to voice the idea she’d been mulling over. "Mother, the situation outside is truly chaotic. The Leopard Clan is a cautionary tale. What do you think... would you and Father Beast consider coming with us to the Tiger Clan for a while? You can return after this turmoil passes."
Hua Yu hadn’t expected Bai Wanwan to invite them. She was stunned for a second, but seeing the sincere concern in Bai Wanwan’s eyes, a warmth spread through her heart. She agreed with barely a moment’s hesitation. "Alright! If Wanwan wants this Mother to go, then I’ll go with you! It will be a good chance to see where you live."
Bai Wanwan secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
’Even if I can’t persuade the entire Fox Clan to move, it’s good that I can at least get Hua Han’s immediate family out of this potentially dangerous area.’
"Then what about your other Beast Husbands... should they come along as well?"
"Well... I’ll have to ask them what they think," Hua Yu replied, not committing immediately. After all, her Beast Husbands were all males with important duties in the tribe.
Bai Wanwan knew she couldn’t push the matter. She had only meant to plant the seed. The details would have to wait for Hua Han to wake up so he could handle the discussions and make the final decision.
By the fourth day, Hua Han still showed no sign of waking.
She stroked her ever-growing belly, the sense of unease in her heart intensifying.
Thankfully, that evening, Hua Han’s eyelashes finally fluttered, and a few mumbled words escaped his lips.
Bai Wanwan immediately leaned closer, watching him anxiously.
"Wan... Wan..." Hua Han slowly opened his eyes, the initial haze in his gaze gradually giving way to clarity.
Seeing Bai Wanwan waiting by his bedside, he pushed himself up into a sitting position and gently pulled her into his arms. "I’m sorry, I made you worry again... How long was I out this time?"
"Four days..." Bai Wanwan replied, leaning into his embrace. Only then did the knot of worry in her chest finally begin to loosen.
Hua Han’s brow furrowed. "That’s too long... I thought I was starting to be able to resist that force, but this time... I had a faint feeling that the Dark Energy controlling me... it seems to be growing stronger."
Bai Wanwan’s heart sank at his words.
’It’s like a ticking time bomb, and it’s only getting more powerful.’
She subconsciously touched her belly. ’I have to give birth as soon as possible, get those Points, and free Hua Han from this!’
"We’ll look into that more carefully later," she said. Not knowing how long Hua Han would remain conscious, she knew she had to get straight to the point.
