Chapter 592: Chapter 589: Never Be Apart Again

Warm sunlight fell on Bai Wanwan, dispelling some of the soreness and weakness in her body.

Seeing Chou Rong leave in the distance, she remembered what he had said that morning, and her legs grew a little weaker.

"Let’s go see the cubs at Aunt Shuang’s place."

Only a few young cubs were at home; the half-grown ones had all been taken to Shuang Hua’s house to be looked after.

Before she even got close, she could hear the tender sound of "AWOO, AWOO," interspersed with a female’s gentle, cautioning voice.

"Slow down!"

"Oh dear, you can’t eat that!"

A gentle smile unconsciously bloomed on Bai Wanwan’s face, and she quickened her pace.

As soon as she entered the courtyard, she saw three chubby leopard cubs with glossy fur tumbling and fighting on the grass. They pounced on and pawed at each other, having the time of their lives.

Nearby, a few tiger cubs and lion cubs had also taken on their beast forms and were chasing each other playfully.

"Mommy!" One of the sharp-eyed little tiger cubs spotted Bai Wanwan and immediately abandoned the "battle" with its siblings, rushing toward her on its short, stumbling legs.

The other two reacted as well, scrambling to pounce at her feet. They rubbed their fluffy little heads against the hem of her dress, letting out dependent, aggrieved whimpers, as if complaining that their mommy had taken so long to visit them.

Bai Wanwan’s heart instantly melted into a puddle.

She squatted down and pulled all three little ones into her arms, feeling their warm little bodies and soft fur. She bent down to kiss one, then nuzzled another.

"My darlings, did you miss Mommy?" Her voice was so gentle it could melt hearts.

"We did!" the little cubs scrambled to answer in their high-pitched voices, sticking out their tongues with their tiny barbs to enthusiastically lick her cheeks and palms, tickling her until she couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

"Mommy missed you, too."

She sat on a nearby stone bench, holding the cubs, and turned to Shuang Hua. "Aunt Shuang, thank you for all your hard work during this time."

"It was no trouble. Yin Mei often comes over to help, and Chief Chou Rong also arranged for some males to watch over things. I’m not tired at all."

On the contrary, these fulfilling days have left her feeling quite content.

"You’re finally back," Shuang Hua said, walking over and sitting down beside her.

She took Bai Wanwan’s hand and looked her over carefully, her eyes full of concern. "I heard things are a mess out there. I’ve been so worried about you. I’m glad you’ve returned safely."

"I’m sorry for making you worry, Aunt Shuang." Bai Wanwan’s heart felt warm. ’The familial love I could never experience in modern society... I have it all here.’

"Zhu Xiu and Xin Feng were there to protect me, so I was fine. Are you getting used to living here?"

Shuang Hua’s ears turned slightly red, as if she had thought of something. She averted her gaze unnaturally toward the cubs tumbling on the grass and nodded lightly. "It’s very nice here. Everyone takes good care of me. And with so many adorable cubs to keep me company, I like it here."

"As long as you like it, that’s what matters." Seeing the genuine peace in her expression, Bai Wanwan also felt relieved.

Just as she was speaking, she caught a glimpse of Yin Mei passing by on a distant, tree-lined path.

Bai Wanwan was about to call out a greeting when she noticed that Yin Mei was surrounded by several unfamiliar males. Yin Mei seemed resistant; her pretty brows were slightly furrowed, and for someone usually so gentle, she actually looked a little angry.

"Aunt Shuang, have there been a lot of males from the tribe pestering Sister Yin Mei recently?"

Shuang Hua tilted her head and saw the situation outside. "Those aren’t Beastmen from the Tiger Clan. They’re Yin Mei’s clansmen, sent here by their Clan Leader."

’I remember Yin Mei and Yin Ze left the Phoenix Clan. How did their people find their way to the Tiger Clan?’

She gently placed the cubs in her arms onto the soft grass and said to Shuang Hua, "Aunt Shuang, please watch them for me. I’m going to go have a word with Sister Yin Mei."

"Alright, go on."

Bai Wanwan stood up. Hua Han was standing just outside the gate, his eyes following her every move.

As Bai Wanwan walked out, she naturally linked her arm with Hua Han’s sturdy one. "Come with me to take a look."

Feeling the female’s soft, trusting presence against him, Hua Han’s lips curved into a smile. "Alright."

It happened to be his turn to guard Wanwan today. For him, this was the thing he loved most, the happiest duty he could have.

Bai Wanwan noticed the wide smile on his lips and couldn’t help but ask, "What are you so happy about?"

Hua Han squeezed her hand, which felt as soft as if it had no bones. He loved the feeling of her small hand enveloped in his own.

"I get to be with you all day today, and I’m even conscious for it..."

’That’s it? That’s all it takes to make him happy?’

Bai Wanwan sighed, stood on her tiptoes, and kissed him on the cheek. "There will be plenty of time in the future. You’ll be with me every day."

A somewhat simple-looking smile appeared in Hua Han’s amorous, peach-blossom eyes. "Wanwan is right. In the future... we’ll be together forever."

As they spoke, they gradually approached Yin Mei.

Yin Mei noticed them and looked up. Bai Wanwan immediately broke into a bright smile and greeted her, "Sister Yin Mei, you’re back?"

The last time she had returned, it was in a hurry. Yin Mei and her Beast Husband had been away for two days, and upon their return, they only exchanged a brief greeting before Bai Wanwan had to leave again to find Hua Han.

Hearing her voice, the vexation on Yin Mei’s face instantly turned to delighted surprise, as if she were looking at her savior. "Wanwan! You’re back!"

Bai Wanwan tugged at the hand Hua Han was holding so tightly. He seemed reluctant but let go, though his eyes continued to follow her.

Bai Wanwan walked step by step toward Yin Mei, her calm gaze sweeping over the rather handsome males beside her.

As her gaze fell upon them, the tall males actually took an unconscious step back, moving to either side. Though she was a petite female, she possessed a natural air of authority.

"What’s going on here?" Bai Wanwan’s voice wasn’t loud, but it carried clearly to the ears of every male standing near Yin Mei.

Yin Mei, as if she had just found her pillar of support, quickly explained, "It’s my clan... Some clansmen came to the Tiger Clan last time and found out that Yin Ze and I are living here now, and that I’ve even had cubs. So they... they sent some males over, wanting them to become my Beast Husbands." Her tone was laced with a hint of helplessness and distress.

"And do you like them?" Bai Wanwan asked directly.

Yin Mei’s gaze subconsciously and very quickly swept over one of the males. He was tall and slender, his face the most striking of the group, and he carried himself with a cold, stern air.

However, Yin Mei immediately and resolutely shook her head. "I don’t."

Bai Wanwan precisely caught the momentary linger of her gaze, as well as the light that suddenly dimmed in that male’s eyes after Yin Mei said, "I don’t."

"Since you don’t like them," Bai Wanwan said decisively, "then have Yin Ze and the others drive these males away."

Yin Mei clearly hesitated for a moment, her fingers unconsciously twisting the corner of her clothes. She turned her head away, deliberately not looking in that direction, and said in a low voice, "...Alright."
