Delicate Villainess, Desperate Males – A Beast World Reverse Harem
Chapter 613 - 610: A False Alarm
Chapter 613: Chapter 610: A False Alarm
A frantic female suddenly burst from around the corner of the Cub Garden’s wall, charging straight toward Bai Wanwan!
"Watch out!" Jiao Yuan reacted in a flash. He let out a low shout as his strong arm shot up like a solid barrier, firmly stopping the reckless female a step away.
He broke out in a cold sweat, his expression instantly darkening. Anger brewed in his eyes as he glared fiercely. "What are you doing?"
’She almost ran into his Wanwan!’
The female was startled too. When she looked up and saw Bai Wanwan, she ignored Jiao Yuan’s anger. Her eyes instantly reddened, and she blurted out, her voice choked with tears, "Holy Female Bai Wanwan! I didn’t mean to! It’s my cub—my cub is missing! I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find him! What should I do?"
Her Beast Husband hurried over, comforting the female while anxiously explaining, "We’ve been searching for a long time. Our cub is usually so well-behaved, he wouldn’t just run off..."
Hearing this, Bai Wanwan immediately glanced at the sky. The sun was already beginning to set; it would likely be dark in another two hours, which would make finding the cub even more difficult.
The cub’s Mother had chosen not to enroll him in the Cub Garden. That was their choice, and Bai Wanwan wasn’t angry about it. At this moment, she was far more concerned about the cub’s safety.
"Don’t panic. Calm down. When did you realize he was missing?"
She asked steadily, then motioned to Hua Han. "Hua Han, go get Yan Lie and Zhu Xiu. Then, notify the patrol team and have them immediately begin a thorough search of the tribe!"
In an instant, the entire tribe was mobilized.
The males split into several teams, practically turning the tribe upside down. No stone was left unturned.
However, to everyone’s growing anxiety, there was still no trace of the missing cub even as dusk began to fall.
"It’s almost dark... What are we going to do?"
"Could he have run out of the tribe’s territory?"
"Impossible. We’ve asked all the Beastmen on patrol at the entrances and exits. None of them saw a cub leave alone."
Everyone murmured amongst themselves, their voices filled with worry.
Just then, it was time for the Cub Garden to close for the day. The gates opened, and the other cubs’ Father Beasts were lining up to pick up their children.
Bai Wanwan’s gaze swept over the Cub Garden, and an idea suddenly struck her. "Wait!" she exclaimed. "We haven’t searched inside the Cub Garden yet!"
She immediately had Hua Han and Xin Feng go into the Cub Garden to search.
The Cub Garden was quite large, filled with play structures that Bai Wanwan had redeemed from the system.
Before long, the meticulous Xin Feng found the missing cub in the semi-enclosed box beneath the slide!
"Over here!"
All the Beastmen hurried over.
The little one had apparently played himself to exhaustion and curled up inside to sleep. His breathing was even and his little face was rosy, completely unaware of the frantic search that had turned the tribe upside down for him.
It was all a false alarm!
Seeing this, the cub’s Mother and Father Beast let out a sigh of relief, so emotional they were on the verge of tears as they thanked everyone profusely.
They only had two precious cubs in their family.
The female, holding her recovered cub, said to Bai Wanwan, still shaken from the ordeal, "Holy Female Bai Wanwan, we were wrong before. Now I see you were right. In the Cub Garden, the cubs can play with others, and they’re safe and won’t get lost... Can I... Can I bring him here tomorrow?"
"Of course. The Cub Garden is always welcoming," Bai Wanwan said, nodding with a smile.
The incident, though unexpected, ended up showing more of the tribe the benefits of the Cub Garden.
With the matter perfectly resolved, the group headed back.
Perhaps it was due to the emotional rollercoaster, or maybe she was tired from the walk, but just as they reached her doorstep, Bai Wanwan suddenly clutched her heavily pregnant belly. Her brow furrowed, and she slumped slightly.
She was going into labor!
"Wanwan!" Jiao Yuan was the first to notice something was wrong. He instantly panicked, the color draining from his face as his voice cracked. "Quick! Quick! Go get the Clan Witch! Hurry!"
The terrifying, painful image of Wanwan’s Mother giving birth flashed through his mind. Fear washed over him like an icy tide. He absolutely could not let his own daughter experience that kind of danger!
Seeing him so panicked and helpless, as if facing a mortal enemy, Bai Wanwan felt a little exasperated. In a lull between contractions, she managed to say, "Father Beast... don’t worry. I’m fine..."
She turned to Xin Feng and said, "Xin Feng, talk to Father Beast. Tell him I’m in good health and that nothing will go wrong. Hua Han, help me back to my room first."
Xin Feng understood and stayed behind. He tried to explain in a steady voice to the nearly hysterical Jiao Yuan that Bai Wanwan had a special constitution and her births were always smooth, so there was no need to worry so much.
But how could Jiao Yuan possibly listen?
The trauma of the past ran too deep. He didn’t believe a word of it and practically dragged Xin Feng along, demanding to be taken to the Clan Witch at once, as if his presence alone could ensure Wanwan’s safety.
"Quick, where’s the Clan Witch?"
Seeing how anxious he was, Xin Feng simply decided to go out with him.
The moment Jiao Yuan spotted the Clan Witch, he let go of Xin Feng and grabbed him instead. "Quick! My daughter is about to give birth! Come with me!"
The Clan Witch was practically carried back by Jiao Yuan, not even getting a chance to catch his breath.
"Let me catch my breath."
"You can breathe when we get there!"
Jiao Yuan simply threw the elderly Beastman over his shoulder, rushed back to the stone house, and charged toward the door of Bai Wanwan’s room.
"All of you, move!"
Jiao Yuan waved his large hand, intending to shove aside all the males blocking the doorway.
But he had forgotten that Wanwan’s Beast Husbands were all of the Red Rank Talent!
His push was no different from a tickle; the males didn’t even sway.
"Move it! The Clan Witch is here."
Jiao Yuan’s words had barely faded when Bai Wanwan’s voice came from inside the room—clear, steady, and even tinged with a hint of ease:
"The cubs have been born. You can come in now."
Jiao Yuan froze on the spot, unable to believe his ears.
’How long has it been?’
He stiffly pushed the door open. Inside, Bai Wanwan was sitting up against the headboard, her face a little tired but graced with a gentle smile. And beside her lay four tiny bundles, each wrapped in soft animal hide!
Yin Ze, who had been standing by the bed, moved away to make room.
Jiao Yuan was in disbelief.
’She... she’s already finished?’
The Clan Witch was also stunned. He then went forward to check on them, a smile of amazement spreading across his face. "The Holy Female and the cubs are all fine, very healthy!"
Jiao Yuan stared blankly at his unharmed daughter and the four wrapped snake eggs. He then glanced at the other males, who all looked calmly unsurprised, as if they’d known all along. The tension that had gripped him suddenly dissolved, and immense joy slowly spread across his handsome, mature face.
"Father Beast, you should come take a look too."
Jiao Yuan gave a dazed response. As he looked again at the four snake eggs in their swaddles, a goofy, loving smile threatened to overflow from his face.
