Seeing him just standing there foolishly without saying a word, Bai Wanwan waved a hand in front of his face.

Without a second thought, Yan Lie reached out and grabbed her wrist.

When he came to his senses, he realized what he’d done. His palm felt as if it had been scalded, a tingling, numbing sensation spreading through it.

He knew he should let go, but his damn hand just wouldn’t obey him.

Bai Wanwan’s gaze shifted down, staring at the hand clamped around her wrist, and she slowly raised it.

"What do you think you’re doing?"

"I... That’s not..."

Yan Lie stammered out a few words, his hand finally letting go.

Bai Wanwan shot him a look and turned to leave.

Yan Lie anxiously followed after her.

Bai Wanwan’s expression immediately became wary. "Why are you still following me?"

"You don’t remember, do you?" Yan Lie was so anxious that beads of sweat formed on his forehead. "On the snowy plains, you saved an injured leopard. That was me."

’Saved an injured leopard?’

Bai Wanwan thought for a moment and finally recalled that something like that had happened.

"You’re that leopard?"

Seeing that Bai Wanwan remembered, Yan Lie broke into a wide, sunny smile. "That’s me."

Bai Wanwan nodded. "You were lucky to have survived."

"You saved me. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have the chance to be standing here right now."

’This leopard seemed a bit foolish with his one-track mind,’ Bai Wanwan thought. She hadn’t even used the life-debt to ask for anything, yet he was still so eager to repay her.

"Then when can I see you next time?"

Bai Wanwan crossed her arms over her chest, suddenly understanding a bit of what he meant.
