Chapter 1708 - 133: The Strange Cardinal (Part 3)
Although this certainly has something to do with the artificial intelligence "David" within the Cardinal, it’s also clear that the technology of the angels from millennia ago is significantly different from the Cardinal technology Nali is currently using.
Fisher looked at the dazed Cardinal in front of him, thinking that there was some malfunction with Elizabeth’s side, so he was temporarily unable to operate the Cardinal and decided to disregard its reaction. He simply embraced the dazed Cardinal and carried it back to the bedchamber, closing the window along the way.
No one knows if Elizabeth suddenly used the Cardinal to steal a moment of leisure during a meeting with those ministers discussing state affairs. For now, it’s best to put back this seemingly malfunctioning Cardinal; he’s not an expert in repairing such things. They can wait until Elizabeth returns to address it.
As for now...
He should go see what Alicia and Emhardt are up to, and see if he can gain any progress regarding the "treasure" research without using Extraordinary Power, even if it’s just a little.
Fisher placed the seemingly malfunctioning Cardinal on the breakfast table behind him, while he himself felt the newly changed clothes didn’t fit well and proceeded to take off his shirt to change into another.
He didn’t notice that as he removed his clothes, the camera on the surface of the seemingly faulty Cardinal on the table continued to swivel, following his sound, watching him remove his clothes, revealing toned muscles... and the pink kiss marks covering them.
After changing his clothes, Fisher prepared to head out to find Alicia and Emhardt. He turned off the lights in the bedchamber and walked towards the door, only to hear a "beep beep" sound from behind.
Looking back, the malfunctioning Cardinal had somehow floated up again, slowly following behind him.
"Elizabeth? Have you fixed it?"
"..."
It remained silent, not even moving, just following Fisher from behind.
No, the Cardinal was getting stranger by the minute. What exactly was going on?
Fisher frowned, increasingly feeling that the Cardinal in front of him was bizarre, and was about to step forward to investigate, even considering dismantling it for research. But outside the door, Emhardt’s voice was getting closer,
"Oh no, something happened to Alicia last night! Ouch!"
"Mr. Book..."
Alicia had another incident?
Fisher halted his move towards the Cardinal, turned around to open the door of the bedchamber, and saw Alicia standing outside, unharmed, holding the frantic and anxious-looking Emhardt.
"Shh... what’s the matter?"
Fisher raised a finger to make a gesture of silence while cautiously observing the environment to confirm that the Chief Maid named Dianne wasn’t nearby. Only after seeing no one behind them did Fisher look at Alicia standing in front of the door, pursing her lips, and Emhardt wanting to say something to him.
"Last night... ouch, you don’t know, she seemed to have had that strange dream again! You wouldn’t believe what I saw?! I personally saw her body undergo transformation in her sleep! It was like... oh, it’s hard to say, in short, all sorts of bizarre, non-human things grew out of her body! Growing while mumbling in her sleep..."
Emhardt nervously shared with Fisher, mimicking Alicia’s sleep talking at the time,
"Saying things like... ah, ’time is running short,’ ’about to descend’... isn’t it terrifying?!"
"Big brother..."
Fisher looked at Alicia, who also lowered her head in distress, evidently unable to control herself, and if not for Emhardt telling her, she wouldn’t even know what happened last night.
And just as Fisher had fully focused his attention on Alicia in front of him, behind him, the bizarre Cardinal floating in mid-air continued to use its camera to watch Fisher’s back.
Not long ago, hundreds of miles away in the isolation of the Northern Realm, within the Wutong tree, inside a secret spacious office, or rather a kind of workshop, countless threads of faint blue Cardinal light surged within, illuminating the many stacks of Cardinal components inside.
And at the end of those large data cables threading through the components, they linked to a simply assembled metal chair.
At this moment, a tall, white-haired woman with distinct Sardinia Female Country characteristics but bearing the elegance of a prince sat on that metal chair. She wore Cardinal headgear, which was attached to a thick data line below, seemingly watching something through these glasses.
As she watched, the Sardinia Female Country woman sitting on the chair couldn’t help but grip her pale fingers tightly, causing her snowy skin to pinch into an abnormal blush.
At this moment, what appeared in the glasses was the image of her beloved person revealing their body after undressing.
Yet on that robust muscle, prominent pink lip prints and kiss marks left by someone domineeringly covered everywhere, making her heart almost stop, barely able to breathe.
She certainly remembered the situation when she was by Fisher’s side; she cherished Fisher, wishing to infuse her inner love into him with the gentlest means possible.
Afraid of hurting him, making him uncomfortable, even when touching him, she proceeded with caution, worried about harming his body, afraid of breaking him...
But why, why under other women’s hands, they could be so willful?
"Fisher, what exactly have you gone through over there..."
Alagina felt a bit distressed for Fisher, thinking that he might have been forced into this situation, after all, Valentina said he was captured by the Nali Empress...
She longed to speak, expressing her longing and concern for him, but the connected Cardinal lacked any way to communicate. She could only watch Fisher and listen to "herself," and voicelessly express her confusion and speak,
"Didn’t you just leave, and now you’re missing me again? Moreover, how did you do this, what method did you use to operate this Cardinal so agilely?"
"..."
"Elizabeth?"
"..."
Alagina couldn’t speak, but her fingers clenched tightly on the steel chair, displaying increasingly visible vibrations because of the name Fisher murmured.
Yet she still couldn’t express anything, only follow him, continuing to watch his every move within the Golden Palace.
Fisher likely doesn’t realize the one watching him now is me?
It’s understandable...
I’ve already changed from before; not only have I secretly learned so much Cardinal knowledge from that person named "David" in the Spirit Realm Sanctuary, but I can also apply them in reality.
Furthermore, the network connecting Cardinals was shut down for so long, so he probably still thinks these Cardinals are under the control of that pesky Elizabeth? Alagina took forever to reboot this network link, and it’s only this one unit...
It also shows Fisher is constantly monitored by Elizabeth, to the point he’s forced to accept it, still putting up a brave front and playing along when faced with Cardinal surveillance...
Can’t imagine, what kind of hard times Fisher is enduring over there...
Alagina bit her lip, yet still couldn’t express anything through the monitoring Cardinal, only able to play the role of the "strange Cardinal" in Fisher’s eyes, expressing her distant longing and concern across the miles.
