“Uncle Sun! There’s nothing inside!”

Red Swan’s figure blocked Sun Shisan’s view, but Sun Shisan’s expression grew increasingly suspicious.

What kind of “there is no silver here” statement is this?

“Really, there’s nothing!”

Red Swan’s expression was indistinguishable in the dim light, but Sun Shisan always felt this little girl was lying to him.

“Forget it, Old Sun, you’re not her dad, why bother so much.” Li Mao said.

Sun Shisan snorted, withdrew his gaze, and said, “Forget it, you’re not a little girl anymore, let’s talk about this statue.”

“The stewards in the city definitely won’t come here. It’s filthy and dangerous. Although those people share the same blood as us, they’ve never looked up to us.”

“To convert this thing into Contribution Points, we’ll need to find a way to transport it into the city.”

“But by doing so, we’ll face two unavoidable troubles.”

“The hunting group.” Red Swan whispered.

“Exactly,” Sun Shisan nodded, “Those scum guard the only road to the city, something big like this can’t be hidden from them.”

“Maybe we can call more people?” Li Mao suggested, “Although those guys in the hunting group are fierce, they are just like us, scavengers. There are more than ten roads leading from the junkyard to the city; dispersed, there won’t be many of them on each road.”

“We have a Holy Blooder here, and we can get a few good guns from Old Huang, share some meat, there’s a chance we might break through.”

“Yeah,” Sun Shisan nodded, “It might be a way, but before that, we have a bigger problem to solve.”

He patted Chu Xiu’s face: “How can we ensure this thing fetches a good price.”

With these words, both Red Swan and Li Mao were troubled.

For scavengers like them, even if they luck into high-value goods, selling it off is a huge challenge.

Sometimes a piece of jewelry worth fifty thousand Contribution Points might be pressed down to five hundred when in the steward’s hands! You have to sell it, or the thugs they keep won’t go easy on you.

Of course, the stewards also care about reputation and influence; they rarely press so harshly on goods with confirmed value, but for something uncertain like this sculpture, they won’t be courteous.

After pondering for a long time, still, Sun Shisan said, “Let’s go to Steward Xue then, after all, I’ve worked with him for over a decade, it’s better than others…”

“Cough!”

Suddenly, a cough echoed from the depths of the cave, interrupting the conversation among the three. Sun Shisan and Li Mao’s faces changed dramatically, and with a flip of their clothes, two short-barreled Explosive Bomb Guns were already in their hands!

“Wait!”

Red Swan, cold sweat on her forehead, stepped between the two men and chuckled dryly: “Our, our own.”

Facing Sun Shisan and Li Mao’s unfriendly gaze, Red Swan sighed, turned on the cave’s only xenon lamp.

Instantly, bright white light illuminated the space inside the cave.

It was filled with junk, various discarded metals, interwoven wires, and many little gadgets of unknown purpose. Amid the clutter lay a bed made of stacked cardboard, upon which lay a bandaged, pale-faced boy.

“…”

Sun Shisan seemed too shocked by the scene before him to speak.

“Red Swan, who is he?” Li Mao asked solemnly.

“I, I don’t know,” said the girl haltingly, “Picked him up nearby a few days ago, I saw he was injured so…”

“Red Swan!” Sun Shisan abruptly cut her off, his face dark as he stared at the boy, “This guy heard our whole conversation. If he’s truly a stranger, a scavenger, I’d shoot him right now!”

“No!”

Red Swan cried out in alarm, then realized she’d exposed herself before this old hand, Sun Shisan. She lowered her head, and after some time, softly said, “He’s from the ‘Clear Space Sect’.

With those words, the cave fell into a deathly silence, broken only by Red Swan’s uneasy breathing.

“Clear, Clear Space Sect?” Even the steady Sun Shisan’s voice was shaky now.

The so-called Clear Space Sect was once the ruling class of this world.

They worshiped a god known as the Bright Venerable, those with the Bright Venerable’s blood were called Holy Blooders, often possessing special abilities, the noblest group in this world.

However, fifty-eight years ago, alien warships changed everything, and people calling themselves the ‘Survey Group’ destroyed the entire ruling class of the Clear Space Sect with unimaginable power, purging nearly all powerful Holy Blooders.

Now, the once mighty sect could only struggle on as an underground resistance.

“Are you insane!” Sun Shisan’s lips quivered, “Do you know what happens if you’re found hiding Clear Space Sect members?”

“They’ll publicly execute you in the most terrifying manner…do you want to turn into stone?”

“Aren’t you indignant?” Red Swan’s voice grew louder, “Those invaders turned our planet into a junkyard, banned our culture, deprived us of our human rights! I am obviously Holy Blood yet they brand me a polluter, anyone they fancy is taken to their mansion even if they’re just ten years old!”

“I want to drive them away! So that my kin can live on this land again!”

Sun Shisan looked at the angry lion-like girl before him and realized something in a daze.

“You didn’t know he would be here before, or you wouldn’t have agreed to bring the sculpture here.”
