Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era
Chapter 1047 - 457: Cultivation Technique Completed
The words of the Venerable Supreme put the Martial Extreme King and Longevity King into deep thought.
The third Path to Divinity, no one knows the significance of this great event better than they do. The last Path to Divinity forged the power structure of the eight Celestial Kings. Now, twenty-two years of silence later, what changes will the upcoming third Path to Divinity bring?
More importantly, considering all intelligence from various sources, this time it’s not just a conflict within humanity. The Outer Realm Demons will also deeply participate... one could say this is a must-win moment, even one concerning the fate of the Human Race.
Even the two Celestial Kings cannot make up their minds for the moment.
As for the King of Slaughter, he seems to have known all along, merely closing his eyes to rest and waiting for the other two to respond, which is not surprising; the government and military always stand together.
After a long time, the Longevity King slowly spoke: "If we can truly gather enough support for the Path to Divinity, offering some benefits doesn’t matter."
"But the problem is, as you mentioned before, alliances formed by benefits are the most fragile. How can you ensure that our investment will yield the expected returns?"
The Martial Extreme King also said: "The issue of consensus remains unresolved. If the guardianship consensus among the Celestial Kings collapses, no one will be willing to fight for us."
The Venerable Supreme said calmly: "Even without the Dark Night Monarch incident, something else would eventually happen. Do you, as stakeholders, think others are fools? As long as society enters a high-pressure wartime state, similar situations are bound to occur. This time, someone just gave it a nudge."
"By uniting the forces of the four of us, we can isolate individuals in society as lone islands. They have no other choice and will eventually quiet down under the control of public opinion."
"Of course, as I’ve said before, this consensus won’t disappear due to the suppression by public opinion; it will merely be temporarily suppressed, resulting in a stronger backlash in the future, but... it should be enough for us to endure through the third Path to Divinity."
The Longevity King snorted coldly: "These plebeians do not understand our sacrifices. Without our protection, do they think they can live on this land with their meager power? A bunch of ungrateful beings."
The Martial Extreme King chuckled: "If Brother Li feels he has given too much, he could hand over the Cause and Effect Points he’s earned to me. I don’t mind taking on this burden for Brother Li."
The Longevity King turned his head, not bothering to pay him any mind, just continuing: "The benefits we allocate should not only go to the military; our consortiums also need them. Economic stability is equally crucial."
"Of course, our guild shouldn’t get less," the Martial Extreme King laughed, "Good things should definitely be reserved for our own people!"
Their proposals seemed to be within the Venerable Supreme’s expectations; he responded without a moment’s thought: "No problem, but each of you, at least all three of you, must allocate a quarter of your resources to be managed by the government."
"Ah, does this balance things out? It does seem fair." Laughed the Martial Extreme King.
"The government holds quite a lot of resources itself," said the Longevity King.
"The government’s expenditures are substantial as well. I believe you both understood this before coming here, so there’s no need to haggle like village women." The King of Slaughter said coolly.
The Martial Extreme King shrugged, indicating no disagreement, The Longevity King frowned for a moment but eventually nodded in agreement.
In the end, this decision that would determine Huaxia’s future national policy was established through the casual conversation of the four.
"If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going. I have a meeting with someone to fight later, and that stone-faced fellow is probably busy mediating between his seventh and sixteenth wives," said the Martial Extreme King, waving as he prepared to leave.
The Longevity King scowled for a moment but clearly didn’t intend to continue bantering with him.
"Oh, and there’s one last thing," suddenly the Venerable Supreme called out to them as they were about to leave, "We have another hidden danger."
The three Celestial Kings turned back, and the Venerable Supreme calmly said, "My assurance to you is that the suppression of the public consensus will last until after the third Path to Divinity. But this is all premised on you retaining your absolute ruling power."
"If a challenger emerges who can rival you, then this suppressed consensus will quickly erupt, rebounding fiercely in unpredictable ways."
"The world claims the Celestial Kings wield absolute, insurmountable power, yet when I bring this up, a few silhouettes inevitably flash in your minds."
The Venerable Supreme’s words caused the three Celestial Kings to change their expressions slightly, even the Martial Extreme King furrowed his eyebrows gently.
The Abyss is vast, containing numerous unanticipated anomalies and opportunities. Perhaps among the natives of a Barbaric Planet lies a secret treasure connecting to divinity.
Certainly, the Celestial Kings monopolize a massive amount of resources, but who can ensure that the challengers exploring the Abyss won’t encounter opportunities capable of crossing the chasm built by monopoly?
The Abyss is the paradise of madmen, gamblers, and the brave; having stayed in Upper Positions too long, the Celestial Kings have more or less lost the ambitious spirit they once had.
After a long silence, the Longevity King spoke first, his gaze colder than before: "That Zhang Zhengdao has been in the spotlight recently, but he wisely opposed us from the outset, so there’s no direct reason to act; however, the forces the four major families have accumulated over the years, it’s time to use them as a form of check, as long as..."
His gaze swept around: "The others don’t oppose."
The Martial Extreme King waved his hand: "I’ll take care of the Lin Family."
The King of Slaughter said: "Any force within our system, no matter how large, poses no threat. The real trouble is the ’lone wolves’."
