Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era
Chapter 1050: Ancient Ruins
The ancient ruins are the reason why those alien visitors invaded.
The investigation team, the investigation team, what they’re investigating is the ancient ruins that might have traces of the Gods!
Over the past fifty-nine years, these outsiders have almost turned over every piece of land on this planet. With their advanced technology and incredible power far beyond the remnants, they have discovered numerous ancient ruins buried deep underground, which the remnants haven’t found in thousands of years.
Some say that the investigation team found the Secret Treasure left by the Bright Venerable among them, which is why they’re so mad, having shown no sign of retreat over the fifty-nine years but instead been constantly adding manpower.
“We’ve run headlong into the enemy’s main base,” Li Mao showed a bitter smile, but at this moment he found that Sun Shisan and Red Swan had already stepped forward towards that giant city.
“Hey! Are you looking to die?”
“What’s there to fear?” Sun Shisan snorted, “So what if it’s the investigation team’s main base? They still need the remnants’ support—do you really think those lords are washing their own clothes and making their own meals?”
“Besides, if we don’t go and try our luck, we’ll starve to death in the desert.”
Red Swan said, “Perhaps the Bright Venerable guided us here; there might be something He wants.”
Li Mao rolled his eyes; Sun Shisan was at least a bit pragmatic, whereas Red Swan was truly getting mystical now.
However, deep down in Li Mao’s heart, he couldn’t help but feel a bit shaken. Until now, he hadn’t figured out how the three of them survived that great tribulation, could it really have been the Bright Venerable’s protection? Could it be that Li Mao seemed like an utterly useless middle-aged man but was actually the chosen savior?
No man can resist such fantasies, but the hardships of early life had made Li Mao more aware than anyone of the harshness of reality.
“Lord Bright Venerable, you might have to endure a little inconvenience next.”
Just as he was lost in thought, Red Swan suddenly stopped walking. She crouched slightly, speaking softly, “Could you temporarily hide in my arms?”
Blue Boy seemed to understand, turned around, and with an expression like he was asking a statue something, after a while he suddenly turned and jumped into Red Swan’s embrace as if he received a reply.
This scene made the three somewhat surprised. In fact, during the past seven months together, the reincarnated Bright Venerable often showed such behavior, causing the three to wonder if this statue was alive, especially since they survived under its protection.
However, Red Swan once secretly leaned against the statue at night to listen, but there was no sound inside; it truly was just a lifeless object.
After discussion, the three could only attribute it to being some Artifact or sacred object that the reincarnated Bright Venerable brought.
Red Swan did not dwell on it much, used her coat to cover, and Blue Boy hid inside. Blue Boy had a strong Concealing Ability when suppressing its breath; unless checked deliberately, it wouldn’t be discovered.
From the outside, there was no noticeable irregularity, given that every wanderer was bulky; Li Mao carried a mess of deadly devices that occupied space twice as much as Blue Boy.
Red Swan felt a bit pitifully and said, “Lord Bright Venerable, you’ve gotten thinner again. If you’re too hungry, ignite my Holy Blood and eat me! To contribute to Lord Bright Venerable’s return to the world is the lifelong glory I seek.”
Blue Boy gurgled twice, covered himself with his tail, and ignored Red Swan.
Sun Shisan looked at him and silently sighed.
Thus, the three continued in the gale, with their Physical Strength nearly exhausted, not knowing when they might fall, finally they arrived at the grand city’s entrance.
They realized that the city expanded entirely around that central tower.
The tall city wall used special Mana to block the wind and sand; through the city gate, you could see fresh fruits and vegetables planted in fertile fields, making Li Mao unconsciously move his throat, yet his mouth had no saliva, making his throat painfully scraped.
“How strange, wanderers who came seeking themselves.”
As they approached, they heard a voice from the city gate.
Red Swan looked up, immediately becoming wary; there were two standing on the city wall, seemingly human like themselves, but their figures were more slender with skin not white but showing jade-like luster, like the phenomena appearing after cultivating to the seventh layer of the Holy Blood Secret Scripture.
Those humans from alien warships were born this way; once they matured, their bodies became incredibly powerful, capable of crushing rocks bare-handed even without cultivation; they called themselves Molten Steel People.
And Red Swan could sense these two had a much stronger aura than herself, yet such powerful individuals were only assigned to guard the gate.
“This is the investigation team…”
Red Swan once again had a clearer understanding of the behemoth they faced, the despair rising when facing an unbeatable opponent, even forcing her to admit they were more advanced higher-class Human Race, and being ruled by such was right, reasonable.
Before she regained her composure, a husky voice came from the side, “Honorable sirs, we’ve been traveling through the desert for half a year, may we enter the city to get a meal? We can do many things—farming, cooking, smithing, anything! Once we earn money, we’ll surely return to repay you sirs!”
