Chapter 52: We Meet Again.

In the end, he sighed and left.

Silvester returned right after. "Well, that didn’t go as I expected."

"Think nothing of it. To think he came here simply to waste my time."

"I doubt that’s the reason he came here."

"What do you mean?" Roseline asked.

"There are countless other teachers in the Marché. I find it hard to believe he couldn’t find someone else. Since I met him, I don’t think he’s a greedy young man either."

"And your point being?"

"He came here to ask for you to teach him—the same person who hasn’t been attentive to him all this while. Even inside the hall, I could tell the both of you weren’t exactly close."

"My guess is, the young man simply wanted to grasp an opportunity to spend more time with you."

"That’s preposterous. There’s no reason he could want to be near me. In the limited time I’ve spent with him, I doubt he has any such feelings whatsoever," Roseline said dismissively.

"Look at you being all tactical. I always tell you, life isn’t a fierce battlefield. Not everything has an underlying meaning."

"I won’t deny the fact that he wasn’t fond of you at first. I could only imagine how you must have dragged him here and gotten him to agree to be with you." Silvester laughed a bit.

"And yet, he seems like someone who would do anything to take care of those he cherishes. He might not like you, but that doesn’t mean he won’t try to. In order to make sure those he cherishes are safe, I don’t think it’s unreasonable for him to try to get into your good graces."

Roseline turned silent, glancing at the door for a moment before looking back at Silvester.

"If that was his aim, then I’m afraid he’ll have to try a lot harder than that," she said lightly.

"You really haven’t changed." Silvester let out a quiet laugh.

Osborne walked through the mansion’s hallway alone.

At one point, he let out a light sigh.

’I won’t deny it, I did have my hopes up.’ He was really hoping Roseline would teach his aura, just like she helped him awaken.

Alas, it seemed he underestimated her amicability.

’Well, it’s not a complete failure. There are countless others I can ask to teach me. Although none will be as skilled as her,’ he thought to himself.

"My lord, I just got word from the house. It appears there’s a woman here waiting to meet you. I presume you had her come in accordance with your tutoring." Clawdeth emerged at his side and said.

’Look at you playing your part so soon.’ Osborne let out a quiet laugh inwardly.

"An instructor? I don’t recall acquiring one though," he mumbled.

"I see. Then would you like me to dispose of her, my lord?" Clawdeth asked.

Osborne turned silent for a moment as if thinking it over.

"No... Whoever she is, I’d like to meet her in person and see if she’s truly capable. I’d also like to learn of how she knew that I was in need of an instructor," he said.

"Where is she?" Osborne asked.

"I had some vassals escort her to our previous meeting point. She’s currently waiting there, my lord."

"Splendid. Let’s go see her," he said.

Clawdeth accompanied him all the way to the patio.

There, Julie could be seen hugging a small bag while glancing around nervously.

When she saw two people approaching from the distance, she let out a breath of relief, thinking to herself that they were finally here to meet her. But on seeing who one of the figures was, her face paled, not expecting to see him here.

"I presume you’re the one who’s come to apply for a job as my instructor..." Osborne took a seat opposite Julie.

"Y-Yes, my lord... I might not look it, but I’m skilled in the arcane and quite knowledgeable if I might add."

Julie didn’t know why she was meeting him again. Learning that he was the one she needed to teach, she grew worried, but recalling her current situation, she still felt hesitant to give up this opportunity.

"Then I take it you won’t refuse when I ask you to prove your capabilities." Osborne leaned back in his seat.

"While we have crossed paths prior to this, you needn’t worry. I’m not so foolish as to hold a grudge, especially towards a commoner." He waved his hand in a carefree manner.

"You need only show me how capable you are so I may consider you for the job opening," he said.

"W-What would you like me to do, my lord?" Julie asked.

"How about a show of knowledge? What circle are you at currently?" He said.

"The fourth circle, my lord," she said.

"Tsk~!" Clawdeth clicked her tongue in dissatisfaction.

"I’m sorry if my current level is unsatisfactory, my lord." Julie quickly bowed her head.

"Please raise your head. There’s no reason to apologise." Osborne said before looking at Clawdeth. "I believe this discussion would proceed smoother if we had some refreshments. Be a dear and go get us some, alright."

Clawdeth’s expression creased up for a moment, but in the end, she nodded. "I’ll be back shortly, my lord," she said, though in an unsavoury tone.

Julie unconsciously felt more comfortable after she left.

"Please pay my servant no heed. She has a knack for failing to control her emotions," Osborne apologised.

Seeing him bending his head towards her, Julie became flustered. "It’s completely fine, my lord. I don’t think she meant any harm in it. My level is indeed unsavoury for someone seeking to work in such a place."

"Humble and brilliant. Two wonderful attributes to have in a person."

"Your praise is wasted on me, my lord." Julie smiled nervously.

She didn’t know why, but the more time she spent with this man, the better her impression of him got.

Especially when he sent his servant away, she couldn’t help thinking he did it for her sake. Of course, she didn’t let such thoughts dwell long in her head, instead focusing on the matter at hand.
