Chapter 84: The Survivors From the Other Side

  • Next Chapter

Seeing that the backs of the four-man team disappeared at the other end of the cave, a sleazy, gangsta-looking man sidled up to the spiky-haired leader donning a dusty white trench coat.

“Boss Sasuke, should we…”

The man made a cutthroat gesture.

Dexterously flipping around the card imprinted with the image of a spider, the leader named Sasuke shot his lackey a glance. “Iruka, how many times do I have to tell you? Call me Kaiba.”

“Ah?” The gangsta Iruka quickly corrected himself, “Oh, right, right… CEO Kaiba… that… like I was saying...”

Sasuke frowned. “Iruka, how many times do I have to teach you? To do big things, you must be patient. We still haven’t probed their depth. It’s best to scout them out first. I’m sure they’re thinking the same.”

At this, a dude cosplaying as a ponytail ronin that looked like he’ll shout hasagi spoke up.

“Um… but Boss, with your amazing duel monster card summoning, what do we have to be afraid of? Can’t we just cut them down?”

Sasuke shot the swordsman that looked like he didn’t have a brain an annoyed look.

Does everybody really think his cards can be summoned infinitely with no cooldown? A bunch of idiots!

He used up so many cards to lure away that swarm of spiders earlier and was on his last leg! It was a miracle they could escape unscathed from that bunch!

These two idiots are still thinking about robbing others? Idiots! A bunch of idiots!

Still, he wasn’t about to leak his own weaknesses and just brushed these two idiots off with an excuse.

“Ken-kun, do not underestimate others. Since we can gain powers, so can others. It’s better to play our cards patiently. Besides, doing so, isn’t without benefits.”

What benefits are there? Ken didn’t know and could only scratch his head dumbly.

On the other hand, Iruka was much more clever and spoke his true worries, “But Boss, are we really going to establish trade with them? Our supplies are running low…”

Sasuke sneered. “Don’t we have a water bender? Have her pump out more water from below the quicksand and fill the bottles.”

Ken looked dumbfounded. “Uhh… but boss, isn’t that undrinkable sea water?”

“So what?” Sasuke glared at the idiot that was too honest for his own good. “It’s water, isn’t it? They should be happy they’re getting a bonus of free salt!”

So shameless! But Lackey Iruka quickly raised both hands in support. “Haha! CEO Kaiba is absolutely right!”

On the other side, team four-eyes didn’t know about the shameless scheme getting cooked in the dark and were still celebrating the windfall they got.

“Che. What wimps! Just a little intimidation and they caved.”

“I know right? Madaraka! We should’ve asked for more!”

The pair of brains ignored the two brainless dogs’ barking in front and considered the bigger picture.

“Ohoho, indeed, I didn’t expect we managed to trade for precious water so easily.” Kim Sungho gave credit to the most resourceful man in their bunch. “Mr. Kwan, you really know your way with words.”

Kwan Minhwoo adjusted his glasses and acted all humble. “Manager Kim, you overpraise me. I wouldn’t have done so without all of you backing me up.”

“Ohoho, like Mr. Kwan says, all for the greater good! Since we got a number advantage, why shouldn’t we stick together and use it? Hoho.”

“Indeed, all for the greater good.” Kwan Minhwoo echoed, but inwardly, he sneered.

He really didn’t expect that one day his slogan was adopted to benefits others!

All for the greater good? Then why did most of the water and fat pour into this fatso’s pockets?

There’s nothing to say about the bald idiot, but he really can’t believe why that Park dog was willing to go along with it!

He didn’t even know how this fatso pulled that dog to his side so fast.

Then again, he himself was also forced by the situation.

This fatso manager was damn slick when it comes to these matters.

Somehow, he went from a character in the background to taking the lead.

Kwan Minhwoo was definitely dissatisfied with how things turned out, but he could only forbear for now.

Anyways, it’s not like there’s no chance to turn things around. As long as he acquires pen and ink…

Those inky-black, scheming eyes of his were deep like a bottomless abyss, but those glasses kept his image as a standard gentleman that was willing to bend and stretch.

That got everybody fooled.

At least, Kim Sungho seemed to not notice anything suspicious and even confided with the man, “What does Mr. Kwan think about those players from the sakura country?”

Kwan Minhwoo frowned. “They look easy to bully, but I’m afraid they won’t be so honest next time.”

“Ohoho, indeed.” Kim Sungho patted his belly and snickered. “But it’s not like we’ll be taking much of a loss. Isn’t it just a few raw fish? We can get more easily, can’t we?”

Here, Kwan Minhwoo similarly smiled. “A bottle for a fish. We’ll trade a bottle for two when we get back.”

“Make that three.” Kim Sungho slyly smiled. “I’m sure she’ll have no choice but to agree, isn’t that right, Mr. Kwan?”

The four-eyes still put on the mask of a hypocritical gentleman.

“Hey, we don’t want to push Miss Yoona too hard. What if she goes crazy?”

“Ohoho, isn’t that even better?”

“It’ll be even better if we can monopolize the source in our hand. For the greater good and all. What say you, Manager Kim?”

“Mr. Kwan is really a like-minded fellow, ohoho...”

Two masterminds started cooking up their evil scheme to rob the poor fisherman for the greater good…
