DesertCraft: Fishing Pocket Heaven
Chapter 96: The Fraudsters
All choices have consequences, whether it be for others or thyself.
This time, the ones suffering the consequences were…
Kwan Minhwoo stared at the [Sea Water Bottle (White)] item tooltip with an ugly face and almost crushed the other bottle of sandy, salt water in his hand.
His intuition was right. Desperation was wrong.
Still, this wasn’t the worst outcome he imagined. Sea water was still water, just less after distillation.
The frustrating part was getting fooled then... letting the culprits get away with it!
“Die madafacking bug!”
Under the joined force of the baldie and the beast, a spider finally got smashed into motes of light.
That was the summoned beast the other team threw out to stall them while they escaped.
“Madaraka! I’m gonna catch up to those madafacking fraudsters and smash their skulls in!”
“Park dawg, count me in!”
“Brother Tae, Brother Park! Calm down, calm down! Listen to me! This isn’t the time to mess around, oh!”
Kim Sungho did his best to hold his buddy back and signaled to the other thinktank for help, “Mr. Kwan!”
Kwan Minhwoo took a breath to suppress his anger and calmly analyzed the situation.
“You two, please hear me out. I also want to bring those fraudsters to justice, but we have no idea how many monsters that man can summon.”
“So far, he still has at least another skeleton monster card that could be summoned. It’s unknown if there’s any more copies of the spiders.”
“If we can’t find a way to deal with that summoner, recklessly rushing after them will only lead to a meaningless death.”
The mention of death doused the aggressive nature of the pair of musclebrains, but their anger still burned on.
“Madaraka! Four-eyes, do you mean we should just eat this loss?! Damn, you shouldn’t have taken that trade!”
“Yeah! I call bullshit on that! Did your brains get eaten by that creeper, four-eyes?”
The blame game started. The scapegoat’s face darkened.
Normally, Kim Sungho would be happy to watch a possible competitor ousted from power.
However, he remembered how this four-eyes never mentioned a word about his cowardice earlier today...
Anyways, this wasn’t the time to disrupt unity. So, he tried his best to smooth out the situation.
“Ohoho, now, now, we shouldn’t blame each other for this. None of us are at fault. If there’s anyone at fault, it’s those fraudsters. If we want to get revenge on them, we must stay united. Don’t you agree, Mr. Kwan?”
Kwan Minhwoo didn’t expect this slick fatso to speak up for him. Since he was somebody that knew when to bow his head, he gladly accepted the olive branch.
“Indeed. Manager Kim is right. Your angers are justified, but we should save our anger for those that deserve it. What say you, Mr. Park, Brother Tae? Truce?”
Since his second brain supported this motion, Baldie Tae naturally had no opinion.
That left Park Insu. Three against one. The majority rules.
The matter got buried just like that.
“Madaraka! Now what? What we gonna do with all this sea water?”
Park Insu angrily punted a bottle at the wall and watched it roll away down the tunnel.
Kwan Minhwoo shot him a glare. “Mr. Park, please refrain from damaging or losing any bottles. Once we set up a distillery, we should be able to separate salt from water. So every bottle counts.”
That made things a bit awkward for the man. Yet Park Insu still put down his face and went to fetch what he kicked away.
Anything for survival.
“Ohoho, Mr. Kwan, do you have any other plans for these... water?”
“Oh?” That reminder from the slick fatso earned a smile from Kwan Minhwoo.
“I believe this… water should make a decent trade. Does Manager Kim share the same idea as me?”
“Brilliant minds really do think alike. Ohohoho~”
Returning with his bottle, Park Insu sneered when he heard what they were scheming.
The victims of fraud were already thinking about becoming fraudsters themselves! How insidious and shameless!
But since he was part of the beneficiary party, why complain?
Hurhur, perhaps he could even use these bottles to buy a night with that bitch.
“Oi! You three! Are we going to just stand around all day or what?”
“Ohoho, we’re coming, Brother Tae~”
“Right. Let’s get back to looking for coal. Those make the easiest emeralds.”
“Madaraka, we should’ve done that from the start instead of wasting time here...”
The party of four set off in search of ores once more.
But none of them noticed the spider that was crawling in the darkness overhead.
Strangely, this lurker silently tailed after them and even left a tail of web that drifted down to lay a path like Ariadne’s yarn.
A while after Team Four-eyes left, torch light appeared from the opposite end of the cave…
Soon, a party of three closed in. It was the fraudsters led by Sasuke!
When Sasuke saw the spider thread on the floor, a wicked grin appeared on his face.
“Let’s go. They went this way.”
He took the lead to follow after the thread. The other two played follow the leader.
One lackey was happy to follow along, the other dressed like a ronin couldn’t help but complain, “Boss, why are we wasting time to track those idiots? Shouldn’t we go mining instead?”
That earned a slap to the back of his head from the other lackey.
“Idiot Ken! Why are you questioning what the boss does? Don’t you know boss is doing this for our own good?”
“Huh? Our good? How so?”
“Idiot! Think about it! Once we figure out the route to their base, just imagine what we could do!”
“Ah...? What can we do?”
“Plunder! Everything they have is ours! It’ll be even better if we can catch some losers to do the wheat exploit. Then we won’t have to worry about emeralds and can buy whatever we want!”
“Ohhhh!”
“Besides, didn’t you say those toys aren’t enough to go around? If we can kidnap one or two back from their base, we’ll have more than enough to play with, won’t we? Kheeheehee!”
Two men of culture snickered behind their boss’s back, and their boss secretly shared that exact same wicked snicker.
This was a world where might makes right, so plundering the weak… was totally right.
