Chapter 1073: Chapter 502: Who Awakes First from the Grand Dream (Second Update, Monthly Ticket 300+)
Mr. York stared at his phone with a blank expression, pondering the decision throughout his journey.
However, when he drove to the community and saw the lights still on in Miss Thomas’s house, he couldn’t resist parking outside her garden gate and ringing the doorbell.
Miss Thomas was still awake.
She was sitting on the sofa in a bathrobe, holding a cup of hot milk in her hand, her face slightly pale.
Upon hearing the doorbell ring, she placed the hot milk on the coffee table, got up, and walked to the window, pulling aside the curtain corner to look at the person at the gate.
There was a small path leading from her standing spot to the fence at the garden gate.
With a streetlight at the gate, she squinted and knew it was Isaac York who had arrived.
She pressed the remote switch for the fence gate at the garden entrance.
The fence gate opened, and Mr. York walked in.
It didn’t take long for Mr. York to arrive at the entrance of the grand house’s living room.
Miss Thomas opened the door and stepped aside to invite him in.
Mr. York didn’t miss the primrose-colored bathrobe Miss Thomas was wearing.
This robe was very conservative, straight and tubular from head to toe, like a cover over a person.
Normally, this type of clothing wouldn’t show any curves on an average person, but Miss Thomas gave this cylindrical robe a form-fitting look.
And because it was securely wrapped, nothing could be seen, further adding a layer of restrained allure.
Mr. York’s Adam’s apple moved involuntarily.
He sat down on the sofa in the living room and saw the hot milk Miss Thomas had placed on the coffee table.
"Miss Thomas is still awake so late?" Mr. York, having worked overtime all day, was quite tired.
His tie was already loosened, hanging slanted around his neck.
The shirt buttons that had been fastened up to the neck were now undone to the top two, the straight collar decadently open, revealing his collarbone.
Mr. York was indeed aging, but wearing an age-defying suit, he was instantly filled with mature charm.
Miss Thomas remained silent, quietly observing Mr. York.
The dazzling crystal chandelier in the living room was more about casting light than illumination.
Just like the lighting used by cinematographers to enhance complexion and features.
This light cast on Miss Thomas’s face made her fair, delicate skin resemble a freshly peeled boiled egg, tender and mouth-watering.
Mr. York rested one hand on his forehead, watching the beauty sitting opposite under the dreamy light of the crystal lamp, hearing the sound of his heart skip.
He had always liked beauties like this; his first love, Diana Thomas, looked identical to Emily Thomas, except for the difference in demeanor, their features and figures were extremely similar.
Even his wife, Anna Wright, was a beauty of this type.
Yet, married for twenty years, the allure between them had faded.
Moreover, Anna Wright had put on weight in middle age, tarnishing her looks.
Miss Thomas picked up a cigarette from the coffee table, lit it, exhaled a puff of white smoke, then crossed her legs, scrutinizing Mr. York, and said, "Mr. York, why are you coming home so late?"
"Is Miss Thomas concerned about me?" Mr. York raised an eyebrow, his teasing words effortlessly emerging.
Miss Thomas smiled slightly, "Of course I care about you. With Mr. York’s charm and success, what could be more tempting for a young girl like me?"
Mr. York smiled relievedly, crossing his legs with graceful elegance, said, "Really? But earlier when I wanted to be with Miss Thomas, she rejected me..."
Miss Thomas’s smile faded.
She took a deep breath, her face suddenly changing, placing one hand on her chest, as if restraining the anger brewing inside, said, "Mr. York, my mother was your first love, and you actually want to keep me?"
"Why describe the fondness between two people so unpleasantly?" Mr. York laughed, "Besides, your mother is your mother, and you are you. You’re not my daughter, we have no blood relation, nor any familial ties, so if we’re together, no one will gossip."
Miss Thomas stared at him, seemingly having underestimated the extent of this person’s hypocrisy.
After a long time, she finally exhaled that breath, slowly said, "...Are you serious?"
Seeing her attitude finally shift, Mr. York was simply ecstatic, quickly said, "Of course it’s true! Solid gold! If you’re willing, I’ll immediately help you move out. I’ll rent you another apartment, and you just need to wait for me there."
Miss Thomas’s raised leg had a satin slipper dangling from her dainty, sculpted ankle, swaying leisurely.
