Chapter 977: Chapter 468: Which Is Closer (First Update)

Local guide James couldn’t help but find it both funny and absurd.

But since he seemed to know the guy, he quickly stood up and said, "William, you’ve got it wrong. These are guests invited by Mr. and Mrs. Zhu..."

The man named William immediately frowned, interrupting James, and pulled out his phone. "James, I’ve already told you my uncle and aunt are negotiating a big deal right now. They wouldn’t abandon that to entertain guests. I think you’re the problem! Did you sneak these people in?! I’m calling the police!"

Lawrence Winters couldn’t take it anymore and stood up, asking, "Could you tell me if you’re the owner of this house?"

William had already noticed Lawrence Winters because she was quite beautiful; he had sneaked several glances at her.

Whenever a beautiful woman speaks, he has to give her some respect.

He held his phone and chuckled, "...Sort of."

"It’s either yes or no. What do you mean by ’sort of’?"

"I mean, my uncle and aunt treat me like their own son..."

"So you’re not their real son, right?" Lawrence interrupted impatiently, "Just tell us if you’re the owner of this house or not. Be a man and be straightforward. Why are you hesitating like an eunuch?"

William’s face immediately looked a bit unpleasant.

Who talks like that?

The smile on his face faded, "...I am, so what?"

"You are? So your name is on the property deed?" Lawrence continued with her questioning.

William was caught off guard and awkwardly said, "No, but what’s the difference? I’m concerned about my uncle, aunt, and my cousin being sick at home, and here you all are barging in..."

"Well, if your name isn’t there, you’re not the owner, and you don’t have the right to call the police." Lawrence stepped out from behind her seat. "Besides, your uncle and aunt are upstairs, and this table full of breakfast was ordered by them. I doubt you’re as close of a relative as you claim; don’t flatter yourself."

"You’re such a weirdo. If you think we’re trespassing, why not just call your uncle and aunt to verify? Why directly call the police?"

William adamantly refused to believe it, "How could they possibly be home?! I don’t believe it!"

Lawrence directly asked the host, "Do you have Mr. and Mrs. Zhu’s phone number? Give them a call."

The host, who had been enjoying the show, replied with a smile, "I just sent them a text."

No sooner had he spoken than Mr. and Mrs. Zhu rounded the corner from the living room.

"What’s going on? Who did you say is here?" Mrs. Zhu’s voice came first.

William was genuinely startled upon hearing that voice.

He whipped around and saw Mr. and Mrs. Zhu standing right behind him; his jaw dropped and stayed that way for quite some time.

Mr. Zhu smiled and said, "William, it’s you."

"Oh, oh, it’s me... But uncle, weren’t you supposed to be... in some faraway place signing a big contract? How did you get back? Could the contract have been signed so quickly? Two weeks ago, you said you wouldn’t be back for at least a month..."

William scratched his head, utterly baffled.

Mrs. Zhu replied coolly, "No contract is more important than Yingying."

"Yingying? Oh, right. But since I’m here, you two don’t have to worry." William looked more anxious than Mr. and Mrs. Zhu, scratching his head, "But I think you should go back to continue negotiating the contract. If it’s finalized, you won’t have to worry for the next ten years, as the company’s income would increase a hundredfold at least!"

Lawrence burst into a laugh, "Mr. William, Mr. and Mrs. Zhu aren’t even worried about the money, yet here you are more concerned than they are. It’s not even your money, so why are you so involved?"

William, snapped out of it, awkwardly chuckled and said, "This lady has a point. Fine, it’s not really my business, I’ll go check on Yingying." As he spoke, he walked over, taking Mrs. Zhu’s hand with one and Mr. Zhu’s hand with the other, "Uncle, Aunt, let’s go together. Yingying misses you the most. Let’s hope she wakes up soon."

Mrs. Zhu turned her head suddenly and said, "Great Heavenly Master Winters, could you join us to see Yingying?"

Lawrence Winters didn’t really want to go.

Although she didn’t like William, after all, he was family, what’s the point of an outsider tagging along?

She had vented her frustration with him earlier and didn’t want to make things more complicated.

Lawrence opened her mouth, intending to politely decline.

But Mr. Zhu also turned back to say, "Great Heavenly Master Winters, our commission hasn’t ended. Your task isn’t just over when Yingying wakes up and is fine."
