Devouring Sword God
Chapter 352: One Sword to Slash Yunhuang
The expression on Li Zhan’s face as he died was one of utter disbelief, for he had never imagined he would fall at Yi Xiaoyao’s hands.
After killing Li Zhan, Yi Xiaoyao proceeded to finish off the rest of the people from Minghuang.
Yun Mengling drifted down to Yi Xiaoyao’s side and suddenly let out a gasp.
Yi Xiaoyao followed her gaze and was startled to see the corpses on the ground gradually melting into the earth as if they were being absorbed.
This bizarre phenomenon put the two of them on high alert. They quickly plucked the Thousand Light Reishi and departed in a hurry.
On their way, Yun Mengling recalled where Qian Yun and the others from Yunhuang had gone. She said to Yi Xiaoyao, “Chi Xiao’s group should be in trouble by now.”
“Perfect. Perhaps we can reap the rewards of their conflict and easily obtain the Blood-crying Poison Lotus,” Yi Xiaoyao said with a faint smile.
Yi Xiaoyao had no goodwill for Chi Xiao. Although the man had invited him to join their team, he was a “laughing tiger”—someone who smiled to your face while hiding who-knows-what sinister plots in his heart.
Just as Yi Xiaoyao and Yun Mengling suspected, the people from Lihuang were indeed in deep trouble at that very moment.
In the dense forest, the Lihuang cultivators had just finished exterminating the venomous pythons. Their faces beaming with excitement, they were about to harvest the Blood-crying Poison Lotus, but in the next instant, their expressions changed drastically as they retreated in a panic.
Where they had just been standing, dozens of barely visible Wind Blades carved a deep trench into the ground.
The Lihuang group stared ahead as if facing a formidable enemy. From within the forest, figures embroidered with wind patterns emerged one after another.
“It’s the people from Yunhuang!”
‘This is bad,’ Chi Xiao thought, his expression turning ugly.
The people of the Eight Desolates possessed Attributes that followed a system of complement and opposition. Among them, the greatest opposition existed between Yunhuang and Lihuang.
As for how this opposition worked, the ensuing clash between the two teams would provide a perfect demonstration.
“Chi Xiao, you’ve got some nerve. The people from Xuanhuang have all been killed by our Yunhuang and Minghuang teams, yet you still have the mind to hunt for treasure here instead of rescuing them?”
Qian Yun appeared before Chi Xiao’s group with her Yunhuang contingent, sneering with a cold giggle.
Hearing this, Chi Xiao’s face changed dramatically. ‘So the trouble Ce Mu and his team ran into was Yunhuang and Minghuang.’
But before Chi Xiao could think further, the Yunhuang cultivators attacked. Vicious Wind Blades instantly filled the air, shooting toward Chi Xiao and his people.
These Wind Blades, compressed from formless wind, were nearly transparent and almost impossible to see with the naked eye.
But one could gauge their power and number just by watching the surrounding giant trees being inexplicably severed and toppled, and by hearing the countless whooshes tearing through the air.
Chi Xiao and his group’s faces hardened. They raised their hands, unleashing a storm of Spiritual Poison Needles. Simultaneously, a vast cloud of poisonous fog billowed from their bodies, and countless venomous insects surged through it toward the Yunhuang cultivators.
“Hmph, petty tricks!”
Qian Yun scoffed. A violent gale erupted, completely dispersing the poisonous fog. No matter how numerous the venomous insects were, they were blown about, flying blindly into one another.
Before the Yunhuang cultivators, who wielded the Wind Attribute, the poison-specializing Lihuang were completely suppressed. They were unable to use any of their techniques and could only watch as the storm filled with Wind Blades swept toward them.
In just a few moments, Chi Xiao and his people inside the storm were already cut to ribbons by the Wind Blades, fighting back with all their might in utter frustration.
On a giant tree not far from them, Yi Xiaoyao and Yun Mengling were quietly watching the scene below, taking in the full display of attribute suppression.
‘No wonder the people from Yunhuang dared to confront Chi Xiao’s group alone. The Wind Attribute’s suppression of the Poison Attribute is immense.’
‘Sometimes, mastering attribute opposition is even more effective than some powerful Spiritual Skills.’
Yi Xiaoyao nodded to himself in understanding. He currently had three Nascent Souls, each possessing a different Attribute Power. If he cultivated the Nine Transformations Nascent Soul Technique to Great Success in the future, all nine of his Nascent Souls would have different Attributes. Then, no Attribute would be able to suppress him, but he would be able to suppress any Attribute.
The thought filled Yi Xiaoyao with a sense of faint anticipation.
At that moment, Chi Xiao and his people were finding it hard to hold on. One Wind Blade after another grazed their bodies, causing sprays of blood to blossom.
“Ling’Er, you wait here. I’m going to go save the people from Lihuang.”
Yi Xiaoyao instructed Yun Mengling before descending.
Chi Xiao was, after all, a clansman of Chong Li and had invited Yi Xiaoyao’s group. Even though Yi Xiaoyao didn’t like them, he was someone who clearly distinguished between favors and grudges.
“Xiaoyao!”
Seeing Yi Xiaoyao appear, Chi Xiao and the others cried out as if they had just seen their savior. With hope in their eyes, he asked, “Where are Ce Mu and his team?”
Yi Xiaoyao gave a faint smile. “Dead.”
‘The people from Xuanhuang are dead? Then what use is Yi Xiaoyao here by himself?’
At the same time, Qian Yun’s expression also changed drastically when she saw Yi Xiaoyao, her eyes wide with disbelief.
‘Why is he here? And why didn’t Li Zhan and the others come with him?’
“Where are the people from Minghuang?” Qian Yun glared at Yi Xiaoyao and demanded.
Yi Xiaoyao still wore that same faint smile. “Also dead.”
“Haha, ridiculous!” Qian Yun sneered. “Don’t tell me you were able to kill Li Zhan all by yourself?”
In Qian Yun’s mind, it was far more likely that Yi Xiaoyao had simply escaped.
“Ridiculous or not, you’ll find out soon enough when I send you to join them.”
As his voice fell, Yi Xiaoyao had already drawn the Bloodthirsty Sword, unleashing a demonic Sword Aura that seemed to tear space itself.
After killing Li Zhan’s group, Yi Xiaoyao still had plenty of compressed Spiritual Power left from the three Refining Spirit Fruits in his body—more than enough to kill the people before him.
When Qian Yun and her group saw this blade of light and felt the terrifying aura emanating from it, their faces instantly changed, and they cried out in alarm.
But they were fully engaged in battle with the Lihuang group. They had no time to mount a proper defense and could only hastily counter, conjuring a massive storm of wind and Wind Blades to intercept the Sword Aura sweeping toward them.
SWISH!
The Sword Aura tore through the storm, splitting it in two. Wherever it passed, the Wind Blades it sliced through let out sharp, piercing shrieks.
Finally, the unstoppable Sword Aura cut through everything in its path and swept across the waists of the Yunhuang cultivators.
In the next moment, the raging wind gradually subsided. The countless spinning Wind Blades slowly dissipated, and silence returned to the dense forest.
Qian Yun and the others stared, mouths agape, in disbelief at their own waists, where a glaring line of blood had appeared.
Then, along that bloody line, their upper bodies slid off their lower halves and tumbled to the ground.
With a single slash, everyone from Yunhuang was dead!
As for Chi Xiao and the others from Lihuang, now that the crisis was averted, they too were gaping, their eyes wide with disbelief as they stared at Yi Xiaoyao in utter shock.
If they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, how could Chi Xiao and his group ever believe that the sword strike that had just annihilated the Yunhuang cultivators had come from Yi Xiaoyao—the very person they had placed no hope in at all?
