Chapter 364: Holy Pill Hall

  • Next Chapter

Yi Xiaoyao was going to the Red Wilderness for one reason and one reason only: the person the Cyan Emperor had mentioned was from there.

Therefore, before he could head to the Cyan Wilderness to complete the great responsibility the Cyan Emperor had entrusted to him, he first had to travel to the Red Wilderness and obtain the Cyan Emperor Order.

When Yan Shang Huowu heard Yi Xiaoyao’s question, her eyes lit up. She glanced at Yun Mengling, then pouted.

“Of course,” Yan Shang Huowu agreed with a nod. “You possess the Fire Attribute. With your talent and strength, you could make a name for yourself in our Red Wilderness.”

Ji Hao smiled. “In that case, Xiaoyao, if you ever come to the Cyan Wilderness, be sure to look me up.”

Yi Xiaoyao agreed, taking the two Teleportation Talismans from Yan Shang Huowu and handing one to Yun Mengling.

Although Yun Mengling didn’t know why Yi Xiaoyao was going to the Red Wilderness, she didn’t ask. As long as she could be with him, that was all that mattered.

In a flash of light, the group vanished from the skies above the Sea of the Dead.

…

“The Great Yu’s Eight Desolates are comprised of the Great Yu Dynasty, the Red Wilderness, the Cyan Wilderness, Heihuang, the White Wilderness, Xuanhuang, Yunhuang, Minghuang, and Lihuang.”

“These nine major powers represent nine Attributes: Earth, Fire, Wood, Water, Metal, Light, Wind, Thunder, and Poison.”

“Of the nine regions, the Great Yu Dynasty is the central power, with the other Eight Desolates distributed around it.”

As she walked through a bustling city, Yan Shang Huowu gave Yi Xiaoyao and Yun Mengling a general overview of the layout of the Great Yu’s Eight Desolates.

“We’re now in Red Flame City, which is the holy land for Alchemists in our Red Wilderness.”

“Our Cultivation bases all saw a huge increase, so I brought you here to buy some Elixirs to solidify them.”

With that, Yan Shang Huowu walked into a Pill Tower.

Yi Xiaoyao and Yun Mengling followed her, taking in the crimson-themed city as they entered the Pill Tower.

The next moment, the conversation between Yan Shang Huowu and the Pill Tower’s Shopkeeper left the pair stunned.

“Shopkeeper, I need three Six-Stripe Solidification Pills.”

“Of course. That will be three hundred thousand Fire Origin Stones.”

After the Shopkeeper produced three Jade Bottles, Yan Shang Huowu winced as she handed over a Storage Pouch filled with crimson Crystal Stones that emanated an extreme Fire Attribute Spiritual Power.

Then, Yan Shang Huowu handed one Jade Bottle to Yi Xiaoyao and the other to Yun Mengling.

‘Six-Stripe Elixirs really exist?!’

The pair stared at the Elixir inside the Jade Bottle in utter disbelief. They thought they must have misheard, but the pill before them undeniably bore six Pill Patterns.

“Of course they’re Six-Stripe Elixirs!”

Yan Shang Huowu pouted. “Even I can usually only afford Five-Stripe Elixirs. But since you’re my guests and we had a great haul on Sunken Spirit Island, this one’s on me.”

‘Can *only* afford Five-Stripe Elixirs… and that’s it?’

Hearing this, Yi Xiaoyao’s heart skipped a beat. “Isn’t the highest quality for an Elixir Five Patterns?”

Yan Shang Huowu gave Yi Xiaoyao a funny look, seeing his lack of worldliness. But then she remembered he came from some small place outside the Great Yu’s Eight Desolates, and it all made sense.

“How could the highest quality for an Elixir be just Five Patterns? Above Six Patterns, there are even Seven Patterns!”

Yan Shang Huowu pursed her lips. “However, I’d guess only one person in all of the Great Yu’s Eight Desolates can refine a Seven-Pattern Elixir.”

Yi Xiaoyao finally gave a slow nod. ‘No wonder Dan Jiu once told me that the ultimate quality for an Elixir had to be higher than just Five Patterns.’

“You must find me amusing, Miss Huo Wu,” Yi Xiaoyao said with a smile. “Where I’m from, a Five-Stripe Elixir is known as a Perfect Elixir, and even then, only one person is capable of refining one.”

Yan Shang Huowu didn’t seem to mind. “That’s perfectly normal. The higher an Elixir’s quality, the more powerful the Flame required to refine it. The people of the Red Wilderness are a race that cultivates the Flame, after all. We have countless Alchemists who possess powerful Flames.”

With that, the three of them left the Pill Tower.

“I need to head back to the Saintess Hall now,” Yan Shang Huowu said. “What are you two planning to do? Maybe I can help.”

Yun Mengling also looked toward Yi Xiaoyao, knowing he must have had a reason for coming here.

Yi Xiaoyao thought for a moment. “Miss Huo Wu, do you happen to know a senior by the name of Red Butterfly?”

‘Red Butterfly. The very name the Cyan Emperor had carved into his rib bone.’

“Red Butterfly?” Yan Shang Huowu frowned, then her expression shifted to one of shock. “You can’t possibly be looking for the Red Butterfly Saint Witch, can you?”

“Saint Witch?”

Yi Xiaoyao sounded confused, but deep down, he was almost certain this was the person he was looking for. ‘After all, for someone who knew the Cyan Emperor and had lived for at least five hundred years, how could her status not be high?’

Then, Yan Shang Huowu whispered, “The Saint Witch is the highest-ranking person in our Saintess Hall. This Red Butterfly Saint Witch is said to be over five hundred and twenty years old and has a very eccentric personality. And… the person I mentioned earlier, the only one who can refine a Seven-Pattern Elixir? That’s the Red Butterfly Saint Witch!”

Yi Xiaoyao was inwardly amazed for a moment before asking, “Miss Huo Wu, is there any way you could take me to meet her?”

“The Saint Witch isn’t someone you can just go and see.”

Yan Shang Huowu gave him a strange look, but she didn’t press for details, simply shaking her head in resignation.

Yi Xiaoyao smiled. “Aren’t you the Red Wilderness Saintess, Miss Huo Wu? And since the Red Butterfly Saint Witch is also from your Saintess Hall, it shouldn’t be too hard to get a meeting, right?”

“There are different ranks of Saintesses. I’m just a preliminary Third Generation Saintess, which is the lowest rank.”

Yan Shang Huowu pouted and added, “Besides, even though the Red Butterfly Saint Witch originated from the Saintess Hall, she never shows up there. She lives in seclusion year-round in the Holy Pill Hall, right here in Red Flame City. Even I can’t get an audience with her.”

“Huowu, please help Xiaoyao,” Yun Mengling pleaded. “I’m sure he has a very important reason.”

Yan Shang Huowu’s eyes flickered. Seeing Yi Xiaoyao’s troubled expression, she let out a soft sigh. “Fine. I’ll take you to the Holy Pill Hall to give it a try. Just don’t blame me when you can’t get in!”

“Thank you!” Yi Xiaoyao’s face lit up.

And so, the three of them made their way toward the Holy Pill Hall.

The Holy Pill Hall was one of the Red Wilderness’s Overlord Powers, and it was also the foremost institution for alchemy in the Great Yu’s Eight Desolates.

After all, Elixirs were a necessity for all Cultivators. A single Alchemist could win over countless experts if they so chose, to say nothing of the entire Holy Pill Hall.

As such, the Holy Pill Hall’s influence extended far beyond the Red Wilderness; it was enough to make even the Master of the Red Wilderness wary.

But because this power was so unique, it had remained an unshakeable behemoth for thousands of years, regardless of any turmoil.

And now, Yi Xiaoyao and his two companions were walking right into this very behemoth.

And just as quickly, they were thrown back out.

“I’m a Saintess! Why won’t you let me see the Saint Witch?”

Yan Shang Huowu took out a Token and glared at the guard who had just thrown them out.

The guard glanced at the Token, his expression remaining stern. “A Third Generation Saintess does not have the qualifications to meet the Saint Witch.”

Seeing that a mere guard dared to look down on her status, Yan Shang Huowu became even more enraged.

At that moment, however, Yi Xiaoyao frowned and stopped her.

“What’s he doing in the Red Wilderness?”

Hearing Yi Xiaoyao’s question, the two women followed his gaze. Yun Mengling’s brow furrowed as well.

“Ce Mu?” Yan Shang Huowu asked in confusion. “His brother, Ce Yuan, is with him. Judging by Ce Mu’s condition, they must be here at the Holy Pill Hall to request an Elixir.”

At the same time, Ce Mu seemed to notice their stares and looked over in Yi Xiaoyao’s direction.
